Well I still prefer music like this for the game:

The original only had snippets of heavy metal, and even then it sounded misplaced. With all due respect to Poland's love of death metal, it doesn't fit in a medieval setting. The Witcher already has enough modern mannerisms. Too much, and immersion is compromised.

Yeah. Me too.

Well, in my opinion as opposed to yours, it could get cool or at least please my tastes. It wasn't the case of that song on the video. I'm a lover of symphonies, orchestra and heavy metal, when done right and I didn't like that one too.
Some good examples here, from the right bands ;)

Black Mages version of One Winged Angel kicks ass too.

Love this one on Starcraft 2

Better stop. I could go forever lol.

And getting medieval, talk about Blind Guardian.
Back on subject, what happens in my opinion is this: CDPRed, hire a better guitarrist, lol. The song in TW1 credits had the same problems, generic harmonies and drumming. Get one person who is able to play some melodies and in more than one rythim. I myself from my few years of guitar playing got with better ideas of playing that song. A drummer would help too.

Hopefuly they've ironed out the bugs that plagued the original. I loved the Witcher but the number of times the stupid thing crashed on me was appalling :-(>

The soundtrack of TW was a good mix of celtic folklore with some slavic tones and I am sure we will get more of that in TW2. However, that type of music is good for exploration, with combat you need something that has more momentum, and I think electric guitars do the job nicely.
I'm curious, what would you consider a more fitting combat music?

I beg to differ :) There is wide range of metal sub-genres such as power, fantasy or ethnic metal that are commonly associated with fantasy and mythology. Not a big fan personally, but can't deny the correlation.
As for the "modern mannerisms" I believe you are referring to the numerous anachronisms such as "terrorism" "ecology" or  "intelligence", these are a reflection of Sapkowski's writing style, an integral part of the witcher universe.  Personally I'm rather happy about the games fidelity to source material ( the screenshot of the poster I posted earlier is an example of that)

I know of the anachronisms, I've read one of his books. But Sapkowski didn't flood the reader with this type of stuff and I would hope the game won't either. In the vid Geralt gets called an emo, he says 'sh*t you stink!' to a Nekkar. Thats cool, I like that. I don't like the death metal.

I just prefer TW1 battle music (not boss music which had electric guitar) simply because I feel it had momentum and didn't break immersion.

Yes it's good but not enough blood in the scene.

Hmm, as I've said before, I could do without the cinematic cutscenes. I'd rather they keep it in the normal camera view. That isn't to say a sword through the cervical vertebrae is a glorious thing to see. :wizard:

....I was born in the wrong century.

The problem with those cutscenes is if they happen too often, but I don't think that's gonna happen because we're able to see finishers in-battle on normal camera view.

Well, if that's the way you played him, then he is.

Here's why I like CD Projekt:

"In the demo I played, Geralt was approached by a woman in distress. She asked him to sort out a "problem" with her husband. Y'know, the usual side-questy stuff. Until he opened his mouth that is.
'Did you find his entrails strewn on the porch and his head a few paces away? Because those are the kind of problems I solve.'
And that was it. There was no side quest. It was just a ironic riff on RPG design. And maybe, just maybe, a cheeky swipe at Bioware. Commander Sheppard sorts out a domestic dispute on the Citadel in Mass Effect 1, right?"

Fair enough. I only mentioned the anachronisms because they are a vivid example of how TW differentiates itself from the usual high fantasy setting. To me metal music is just part of the package, I never considered it immersion-breaking.
Had this been Dragon Age I would fully agree, electric guitars would feel out of place, but with TW its to the contrary. A matter of opinion I guess.

'Did you find his entrails strewn on the porch and his head a few paces away? Because those are the kind of problems I solve.'

I like it. Its humorous, whilst staying true to the character.

Dude sounds a bit douche-tastic.

Geralt does not concern himself with trivialities, his a freakin monster slayer, not a marriage counselor, how does that make him a douche?

Actually I find every line of dialog (of what I've seen so far) pure gold.
This might be my wishful thinking on my part, but it seems we will get a proper english translation this time around.

On a different note, a short video taken from some seminar. The 2 CD Projekt co-funders talking about their philosophy of "thinking different". They discuss TW and their little stunt with gog.com.
I found it rather amusing, plenty of awkward english:

They seem to be doing well, for high school dropouts :)

Considering there is a side quest like this in just about every RPG ever made I doubt it was a swipe at Bioware.

However that is a bit concerning since it means I can't play the character the way I want to play it it.

He doesnt sound like a douche for not helping her, he sounds like a douche for the way he rejected her.

Good point. Still from my perspective the witcher universe is one filled with crude language and insensibility. That particular response fits the picture. It doesn't make Geralt any less likable.
Calling him a douche seems to be missing the point, perhaps the women had it coming.

The poster might never have played the first Witcher, so the quote might actually have made him less likable to him/her.

Evenif the woman demanded help or did something outrageous, that doesnt make him acting like a douche towards her excusable.  He still sounded like a douche, and if it was, in fact, a response towards the woman's actions, I would call it petty as well.

^This.

He sounds absolutely self-absorbed (from that one quote, anyway), and seems to put himself above others. Hence, douche-tastic. One could just as easily say "No, that's not my thing."

EDIT: And just to clarify, douche-dom does not make a character a BAD character. It simply means that he is a douche. I find Dr. Gregory House to be an absolutely fantastic character. Still, dude's a douche.
