Question- is TW1 an "easy/ hold my hand/ shape my dumb story for me" game?konjusina wrote...
Yes your opinion is valid that the game is complex. Here is some words of wisdom for you, the complex games/rpg's are 1 in a million. Easy/hold my hand/shape my dumb story for me games are dime a dozen.
My point is you have plenty of easy games where you dont have to think for yourself just like DA2 so go play them. For the rest of us there is always Demon Souls and TW2.

Only Bethesda games have made me upgrade my computer so far. TW2 would have joined them if I didn't already have a beast in my office.

I jest, of course, but just imagine how beautiful it would be - entering Ostagar and it feeling so alive, just like castle siege in Witcher 2. Or wondering through Brecilian Forest and other great places from DAO.
Ahh.. one can only dream.

TW1 is fairly easy comapred to TW2. Both being on normal settings.

So all those people touting it as a great RPG didn't really like deep, complex RPGs?konjusina wrote...

THIS
Might I just add, that games for those of us who enjoy some, and I don't even mean lots of, complexity in a game are becoming like diamonds in a desert.
There are plenty of games a person can play for hours pressing/drooling on an awesome button. To want to subvert and destroy every genre of gaming until everything is simple and boring and awesome is to my mind a bit.. selfish.

Much more demanding. My 9500 GT can barely handle it while it can run DA2 like a champ.

We are not talking about other peple. We are talkign about you wanting an easy-mode game. I provided that answer for you. Also, you answering questions with a question does not make you witty, it just makes you look like you have no idea what you are talking about.
Anyway, im gonna stop so as to not derail the topic. Bye.

Nothing the combat rebalance mod can´t fix. Potions and oils become really necessary. The "half-witcher" without potions comment is true.
TW1 gets quite easy around chapter 4. In mook fights I didn´t even need to watch the screen, Group style and by the sound I knew when to click and you were so powerful signs were unnecesary. Geralt´s movements were often beautiful to see however.

My criticisms, and those I'm seeing at other forums, come from enjoying TW1 and expecting the sequel to be much in the same vein with some minor improvements, and not to take the things that people criticized about the first game (twitchy action elements) and make them the centerpiece of the combat system. Or to mess up things that actually functioned well, like the inventory system.

It's a real question. You said if I didn't like TW2 I should just go play DA2 or another "droolingly easy" game, and leave the complex RPGs to the big kids. I would just have preferred TW2 play much like TW1. It's you who are assuming all criticisms of the game are because people don't like "real" RPGs.konjusina wrote...

I personaly think Igni sign was so unbalanced in TW1. You could max it out and just run around casting it at MOBs while the DoT from it kills them. Worked on majority of bosses too. Good luck trying that in the TW2 though, you will be dead before you know it.

I linked it earlier. It's really great and useful since having too many saves can slow Witcher 2 on startup.
@konjusina My 3 run WItcher 1 playthroughs I made for Witcher 2 all had maxed out Igni and that is how I blzaed through the entire game. Funny the ifrits are fire genies and yet they can die to igni. Witcher 2 is much more balanced game.

Easy is not easy, and doesn't solve either the awkwardness or the intended design changes that make it into a twitch game. I'm not the only one who's saying this- it's in the official reviews as well.slimgrin wrote...
Addai, I still say it's worth trying the game on easy for the story. On medium it starts out quite difficult. I died about 30-40 times in the prologue.
I'm sure the story is great. If they can patch the game to make it more playable, maybe I'll go back to it and just put up with the things I dislike that are intended. Otherwise, no amount of story is worth it.
For those who like the game- quit trying to wave away real criticisms of it as Biowarism, laziness or dumbing down. The fact is that this sequel has divided its fandom just as DA2 did here, though for different reasons.

If you loved the first one.. this is The Witcher as it should be and perfected! Inventory in TW1 was a joke. In TW2 can and will be improved. At least the lousy save games staking without any player management is almost the same. Quick saves overwrite each other and not create new huge files instead. Well, that's one improvement.
All the rest, it is fraking perfect. Even the "non-responsiveness" some people claim, yeah, must end an action before start another one. Sweet lord... look at that troll! I spared him. First time my witcher spared a monster since TW1.
