You're a special case, Persephone.

One of those mythical creatures who likes both games.

:P

Yup. You gave the game a chance and look what you got a great game that you like.

Seriously people on DA forums bash on each other if they like DA2.

:D

As for Geralt, he sounds reserved, in some cases flat, but he does have a bit of snark depending on the dialogue. It may sound underwhelming but it's reasonable considering his character.

Sounds like I missed a couple quests, Don't think I found fight club, or hang over.

You will not regret hang over.

Why do WE have to provide YOU with material? Go ask CDPR. It is their baby. Or just google for it! And somehow I'm pretty sure that you will dismiss any material we could provide you with your "this actor sucks" attitude. Nothing in the whole world will convince you otherwise, not even if he was awarded an Oscar. I'm sure of it. Well, enjoy LA: Noir! Cya next great Bioware game!

Because you (figurative "you" e.g. TW2 fantaics) have proclaimed that it will be an amazing game and superior to DA2 in every way possible for the past half a year. I am asking you to provide examples to refute what I find to be a large, immediate flaw of the game: even from a cursory glance, the protagonist's voice actor is quite bad and is given equally poor lines to deliver. The protagonist appears to be the worst character in the story, which is quite unsettling.

And you mistake me for one of your camp, sir. See, I don't fervently wish for games to fail and arbitrarily seek out poorly conceived flaws. On the contrary, I would want nothing more than to love TW2. I want to be proven wrong, but from every video I can find, I'm just not seeing it.

And it's not even so much of a "his voice is bad," (though I would prefer something more original than "standard gruff and stoic warrior") but instead "the way in which his voice was recorded and layered into the game sounds like a mod, not a professional job." It stands out compared to every other voice actor so far. It is jarring, to be honest.

The game IS better than DA2 in every way imo. You know it's real funny the same group of people that moaned the most about DA2 bashing, are just about all here in this thread doing the same thing to TW2.

I almost missed hangover also. You need to go to the blue stripes HQ, building on the left of the inn(one humorous quest). Fight club happens after you fight in the inn and win 3-4 fights, then a man asks you if you want to fight for real dough or some such. Maybe you knew this maybe not, gl either way.

I'm desperate with Melitele's Heart quest... how many wraiths are we supposed to kill? Is there a trigger to end the fight? I knew they will always respawn and be in groups of 3 but I thought that after klilling some 10-12 it would end! I'm on 21 and still counting... a whole night and almost a whole day of fighting (in game time)... that's exhausting! =)

While you're at it, do explore the whole Inn... I've read people saying that they didn't notice a very delightful place in the Inn because they thought it had only two doors!

Ok good, glad it helped, the fights were on the bottom floor of the inn
at the left corner. Hope you made it to the bottom floor, well you had
to if you did the dice quest.

Actually, that's quite false. I think Geralt looks great. I think the overall demeanor is fine. It's simply the sounds part I don't like. I didn't like Meer either, but I was thankfully able to choose a different, amazing voice in ME.

Really if it's a game breaker for you then it is, how can anyone change your mind?

Because I understand the potential misinformation of small sample sizes. I was asking people who know more about the game - particularly knowledge of specific sceens - if it gets better. I can hand pick a few lines from ME, ME2, DAO, and DA2 that sound awful no matter who delivers them, but that hardly means that, overall, the voice acting and writing is bad in those games - quite the contrary, in fact. After asking this, I was called a ******. But this is a Witcher thread on the BioWare forums, so I shouldn't be surprised at what sort of ilk I find in here.

Fair enough, we just have a difference of opinion. I actually really enjoy this edition more than the first game to be honest.

Bioware's does best with VO work that's were Witcher can't compete. It's not like your playing Two Worlds two Witcher Voice acting is no where near that bad and a lot of the VO work has improved.

But if you can't handle it don't get it.

I pre-ordered the game a long time ago, but wasn't able to play it on release. I had no sound at all, but I fixed that by buying another headset. I also didn't have a monitor aspect ratio that was properly supported, so I had to buy another one. After all the problems that TW1 had I expected that CDPR has learned from that, but apparently not. BTW: I don't care whether the fans agree with me or not. I've just spend a lot of money on a single game and it pisses me off.

Anyway...

I didn't have much sleep this night. I am fiddling with TW2 and setting up the controls for it (I use a Logitech G13 and a mouse). Exploring the game, looking at how it compares to TW1 and the DA franchise. Things like that.

Compared to TW1 the controls behave differently and I need to get used to that. But TW2 is much better in that respect than TW1. TW2 is a bit easier to control, but certainly not dumbed down. The combat is much better than TW1. Compared to DA:O/DA2 the combat is different and shouldn't be compared. They aim to achieve different things.

The game looks great. It has stunning little details all over. The world feels more alive than DA2. The characters walk, talk, work, and feel like they actually do things. They fit in the world. The world isn't as tidy as DA2. It's dirty. It has soul. It feels like a lot of attention and love was put into the game.

The environments are stunning. I don't feel I want to run in this game. I want to walk and look at it. As a graphics freak I've noticed a minor annoyance, though. The shadows are dithered. Too bad. It certainly doesn't distract from the the game's beauty, though.

I don't like TW2's sterile interface. It's just as out of character as DA2's. It works great, though. Nothing wrong with that. You have lots of information at your finger tips: From background info to how the game controls work.

The TW2 VA is a clear improvement of TW1. Compared to DA it is not about how things are said, but more about what you do. You need to think what you select, because, unlike DA2, in TW2 things do have impact. That impact can be right now or at some time in the future. I like that. A lot.

These are just my impressions so far (which is not much). I still have a lot of things to figure out, but so far this game is a blast. I am loving every minute of it.

What Ringo said. It's not the best ever, but it's improved over the first game, and it isn't your typical badly translated title. It's actually not half bad really imo anyway.

Yes, Geralt's voice work is not the best out there. He does show emotion from time to time (usually snark), but for the most part he is reserved. It's his character but I see why it's seen as flatness. I personally rank him below the Shepards, and FemHawke when it comes to voice acting but above MaleHawke who I felt just didn't fit with the character and Michael Thorton, who was the embodiment of flat. IMO.

So, not the worst, not the greatest.

Come to think of it too, I liked him more in TW 2 than TW 1.

@AngryFrozenWater But the 16:10 will be supported in a future patch! Hopefully you enjoy the game enough I'm one of the lucky people who had no problems whatsoever be it with registering or playing.

I play at 1920x1200 and well I'm kind of used to the black bars.

I like both DA2 and TW2. Both are disappointing in some ways and are better in others.

TW2 is beautiful in the graphics department and has a good story but the gameplay feels a bit awkward and not as fun. The inventory system is also a pain in the butt to deal with and the prologue was crappy in getting us introduced to the combat system and to learn how to fight. Other than that, I found the game to be pretty fun.

I don't see how interpreting hostile words as hostility is a delusion.

Did you intend for you insults to serve as evidence to the contrary?
