This is my second playthrough. Flotsam IS Act I. :happy:First one worked like a charm. Now this happened. Loading saves before DOES bring it back but the Saves involving that mission are corrupted, either Dialogue or Ambiente Sound & Music will disappear suddenly. I hope that restarting the mission might do the trick.

I know! I meant you're opening a lap difference (if it were a race) =) You'll probably end your second run while I'm still in act 2 of my first! hehe

Let us know if restarting the mission fixed it! Hope it does!

Sadly it's still happening at some point during that mission. (Same mission everyone at GOG reported)

As for racing through it...No. Doing every sidequest I can find etc. Also.......I may not have slept much since the 17th. Ahem........

But this bug.......I dunno where it came from. And there are no solutions on GOG either, except the Stereo switch. I want to keep my Surround experience...:crying::crying::crying:

Almost did. But being a fierce witcherette, I battled my sound system like a veteran monster slayer. After a thorough trashing with various settings, it's working again. Take that, Realtek!! *Wearing Realtek trophy*

I know. I was kidding. (Even though the term witcherette is right out of TW1....it's used as a slur though)

She does not.
All she got was the sword training, but no mutations or signs, so yeah, no female Witchers.

Guys.. if you are experiencing crashes most of the time is DUE to your system. What comes to my mind is a couple of things. Do check the following:

1. Ensure your CPU fan is clean. Not dusty. Usually people tend to forget to maintain their PC hence dust collected in the heatsink and fan hence cooling is compromised. RPG game like Witcher2 tends to used up alot of CPU power. So without proper cooling your CPU will overheat and hence your system crash.

2. RAM. If you have value RAM or performance RAM, ensure they are not faulty. Some RAM may run properly WHEN all the memory was not fully utilize. But a heavy RPG like Witcher2 tends to eat up alot of memories. So when the faulty memory segment was used, hence your system crash. Check your RAM with memory utility tool to ensure your RAM is not faulty. Also, do yourself a favor buy some RAM heatsinks that can reduce the heat from your memory.

3. Sames goes for your graphics card. Maintain it.

4. Ensure your CPU casing has good airflow and do install bigger 12" FAN for better cooling.

5. Your PSU. You may not know that your PSU is actually underpowered for your graphics card. When on heavy load and the PSU couldn't take it, your system crash.

6. Ensure you have the latest drivers installed and no other software applications like antivirus software is conflicting with the game.

Now i'm done. Someone pin this :P

Kayran on Insane Difficulty.

As for game crashes. I shall quote something from gog.com

To everyone with CTD after getting to Floatsam:

Seems this is a game optimization issue on cd projekt's side, they prob didn't cap the memory allocation or smthin.

Try this:

You want to enable the 3GB switch on the Windows Vista™ or Windows 7 operating systems.

To enable the 3GB switch on Windows Vista™ or Windows 7:

Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072"
Restart the computer.
To disable the 3GB switch:

Right-click on Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /deletevalue IncreaseUserVa"
Restart the computer.

No more crashes for me since I enabled this.

There is no aspect of Witcher 2 that doesn't shame BioWare's current efforts. It's graphically leagues beyond anything BioWare has ever achieved. It simulates an immersive, uncannily believable, blood-sweat-and-tears-world. The complexity and gameplay depth are on a level I at this point expect never again to see from BioWare.

Just in terms of the scope of everything. We get multiple kingdoms and kings (crucially many of them are actually shown and directly influence the events, and aren't just vague describtions in a codex), and in depth politics and great wars - not just some guy running on errands in a bland, repetative stage set. Everything feels like it actually exists within the game, not just in exposition. Where Dragon Age would have had some random text show up saying "there's a peep hole in the wall", Witcher 2 actually lets the player look through the peep hole.

With Dragon Age 2 I had to constantly rationalize and dampen my expectations. "Of course we can't have armies clash, BioWare wouldn't model something like that. Of course there wouldn't be actual consequences in using magic near templars, it would be too much work for BioWare." With Witcher 2 I truly don't know what to expect. I feel that everything is feasible for CD Project.

They can have kings and entirely new settings and plot twists and visual flavours pop up midway through the game if it suits there purposes. They can have stunning castle sieges and grand monstrosities, they can have mutually exclusive grand decision, and I can just relax and enjoy, and breath in the experience without having to constantly temper and restrain my expectations. I don't have to make excuses for the game, since it requires none.

The production values dwarf Mass Effect 2, the voice acting is superb and easily BioWare's level, I'd argue even higher. Choice and consequence are true and actual - the experience actually changes based on one's choices. The writing is truly adult and doesn't pander or underestimate the player's intelligence. The game defines dark and gritty - no subject is diluted by politica correctness. Things are shown as they are in all their glory/grime. The setting feels like a world, not like a scene from a play or a level from a game. It does nigh everything right - it sets the bar so high that I doubt BioWare will ever reach it.

There are two in Flotsam. One in the house of the guy where you go once you've fulfilled a monster contract (Go there first) and the other is at the Commandant's estate.

Question. How do you do group finishers? I have combat acumen and everytime I do it, when surrounded by enemies, I kill only one instead of three. Does it work only against humans (trying it vs specters)? I tried against humans once , it didn't work but maybe the positioning was bad.

Unless we weet him again sometimes later, pretty sure, because he distracted the guards for me at the end of the prologue.

If you're having a lot of crashes to desktop once you hit Flotsam, you should try to enable the 3GB switch on Windows Vista or Windows 7.

1. Right-click Command Prompt in the Accessories program group of the Start menu. Click Run as Administrator.
2. At the command prompt, enter "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072"

Well as far as graphics go, I must say DA2 beats TW2 when it comes to spells. You need to play on DX11 but spells look fantastic at that setting.

That was actually not bad, but you've lost your momentum already, so there's no point.

I'm having exactly that issue. I was wondering what I was doing wrong, or if it was a glitch.

Also, watch out for bombs. I found a seriously game breaking bug. I had a type of bomb in my quick slot but they were all used up. I tried to throw a non-existant bomb and it totally screwed everything. I could no longer swing my sword, or use R. It followed me when I reloaded. Yeeek. (Don't throw bombs you don't have.)

well every ability have 2 levels... you probably on level one... when you will be on level two you will can kill up to 3 enemies. And this ability on 2 level works only for humans/nonhumans.

As far as I can tell, group attacks is a swordsman skill in the latter part of the tree.

Do you mean restarting or reloading? Reloading isn't such a big deal. Restarting is.

I should have said - I mucked around and fixed it by reloading to an earlier area, remapping the keys, and back again, with both swords unequipped. (I don't know what actually fixed it, but it seemed to be everything together, which doesn't make a lot of sense.)

@Zcorck I have a (mostly) maxed out swordsman tree, but I can't get the group finisher thing to work on more than one person/monster. You get an adrenaline (?) bar that you fill and then press x.
