So.....I just got to see TW2 being played on my sister's high end killer machine of a gaming PC.
I wept.
No game should be allowed to be this gorgeous.
I need a new Lappy, darn it!!!
Yep it is bloody gorgeous. It is like you can get lost in woods, if it weren't for the maps because it is so dense and plush... When you actually change to walk instead of a run, and you die a few times because you are too busy looking at the tree tops and sky to realize there is a nekker or some such critter biting your arse, that is a pretty game
I have always, always loved characters. Everything about them. This game makes me love the environments because it made me see just how MUCH it brings to a game. It doesn't just have to be about SETTING but also it can be a HUGE deal about mood.
What I also loved was how some of the junk-npc's ( by that i mean, largely irrelevant in the grand scheme of things) have some quirks. I click one person and they are snooty, another and they are bigots, another and he is a big lunatic, and one more and he starts screaming melodramatically about the mutant staring at him.
Cool was putting out the fire a scout was using to warm his hands, to have him realize the fire went out, have him rub his hands and walk away to begin scouting again. The NPC *knew* the fire went out. Cool.
A good bit of fun was sitting around the campfire outside of Flotsam late in the evening and listening to the witcher story being told by the story-teller dude. Then pulling out your sword and having someone scream and yell "RUN!"

and people scatter. Come. on. That is great. lol
Details. Details. Success is in the details.
