One of the best RPG game ever made. There is only one bad side and it is just game length.
Other than that, DA2, compared to this game, just lol. I cant even call it a RPG.
BioWare should learn from CD Projekt.
Depends what you like I guess. I enjoy the story, the action and seeing the world. With Dragon Age etc I played through the game, enjoyed it and was sad when it came to an end.
With the Witcher I started it, died, died, and kept dying. I died being chased by a dragon repeatedly. I died killed by guards, I died being whacked by an aquatic boss monster. And each time I did (on easy by now) I also died a little bit more inside.
I'm not a very good player - I just enjoy the experience rather than the painful 'oh god' sensation of having to collect hundreds of ingrediants from every pot in the world and make them into potions or mines so I can balance a fight. Disliked Morrowind etc for the same reaons. The world felt fiddly, undirected and I just ended up stumbling around in it and switching off.
Not saying that that's everyone's reaction - I'm sure lots of people will love this. But its worth remembering that this kind of open ended, downright hard gameplay is offputting to lots of people

Download is at 33%. It should be interesting playing as one of the least likable and worst acted characters, though I hope Geralt can redeem himself in time.
Ya know, if the most important thing to you is voice acting, I think you may have missed out on some great RPG's over the years.

Geralt is a character I can relate with, so I rather enjoy playing as him in these adventures.

I hope they release a decent toolset because I'd love to make a module with this game's engine.ErichHartmann wrote...
I just beat it. I hope CD Projekt already has a sequel in development. So many unanswered questions!
Edit: if you're going to be over-sensitive about spoilers, don't visit threads with lots of pages; they're bound to fly off in spoilerish directions. You have nobody to blame but yourselves.

I'm so slow compared to some of you. I'm still finishing chapter 1 and taking my time. Absolutely in love with this game so hoping to make it last as long as I can.

Lol, same here. I can't believe i'm saying this, but...CDP Red has made something I enjoyed more than BioWare has released since BG2: Throne of Bhaal

You shouldnt worry too much about that because if you choose a different path (unlike other games i could mention) everything changes, its like playing a different Witcher game

You're on to something there, I think that may have been the last Bioware game, aside from the modding of NWN I was involved in. That I've enjoyed as much as I am TW2.

Perhaps, though that is more-so influenced by age as well. I was 11 when Baldur's Gate came out, 12, when Planescape:Torment came out, 13 when Baldur's Gate II came out, etc.CoS Sarah Jinstar wrote...

As I said before, I'm not a "hater" like many here (including yourself, sorry to say) hoping that a game fails: I do honestly hope it gets better. Not only because I paid for it, but also because I only stand to gain if it does. That said, I have a feeling this game will be carried by its atmosphere, graphics, gameplay, and supporting characters rather than the protagonist, his involvement in the story, etc.
This in and of itself is not terrible, as the protagonist does not need to be the most active, lively, and compelling character (Nick Carraway vs. Jay Gatsby?), but it only works if done on purpose, which I do not believe is the case here. No, I think the designers (the original author?) simply tried to make Geralt too hardened and stoic and hit the other end of the spectrum: flat and boring.
Though I dislike numbered reviews, I have said in the past that I'd give DA2 an 8, subtracting one point for large, unforgivable issues (the re-used environments) and subtracting various fractions for various other grievances. I suspect I will give TW2 roughly the same, as Geralt will likely net the game one lost point as it stands, and depending on whether or not the gratuity I have already seen continues, perhaps another full point as well. I will not abide by fan service.
But, again, I'll wait to confirm these inferences until after I have played.

Just did the hangover quest...awesome. I'm so glad the humor and camaraderie from the first game is still there. And Ves, I just lover her and her no-nonsense attitude.
Oh gawd, yes! That quest was so funny!
Geralt ends up in the fetal position, and the tattoo!

There's a major difference between TW2 and DA2. TW2 has actual choice and consequence. DA2 has neither.

Just finished the game. *Big Spoilers at the end* Skip over my post unless you've beaten the game
I saved Triss instead of helping Roche secure Temeria's future. So without me, he goes in hot-headed as always and massacres the kaedweni camp, and is now an outlaw. He rescued the princess without me, but until she is of age, the barons are going to run amuk, bickering over each other.
Dethmold got away, and I let Sile blow herself up by not switching out the crystal. You can't monologue like a big bad, and really expect me to help you, can you?
I let Letho go. He outsmarted everyone, and his death meant nothing anymore. Geralt lost the game, except the one thing that truly mattered to him; he still had Triss (the sneaky withholding-information sorceress that she is). Yennefer doesn't even matter anymore.
End spoilers
Spoilers:
I wouldn't say Yennefer doesn't matter anymore since it looks like she will be Geralt's motivation in TW3. Also does Triss die if we don't go to save her? Or does she show up later on her own?
Letho saves her.

The Witcher 2 is the best RPG I've experienced since Throne of Bhaal. Lets just say the path I chose presented real choices that definitely left me wanting more in a good way. I really, really hope CD Projekt allows us resolution for major decisions in the future. (I'll definitely replay to see different paths but my first run is canon.)

In the best scenario, TW2 trades the choice of defining the protagonist as a character with the choice of affecting the outcome of the story. In the worst scenario, it trades the choice of defining the protagonist as a character with the illusion of affecting the outcome of the story. I'll have to see for myself how extensive these "consequences" are.CoS Sarah Jinstar wrote...

Not that you just keep bring up the same thing. You asked a question before and we answered what else is there to say? Unfortunately CDProjekt can't go hiring the best voice over talent and localize it in as many languages as they do. Bioware has always had their games in English, CDProjekt at least doesn't suffer from a bad translatin job like "All your bases are belong to us" I play sometimes in English but I usually switch to Polish. No big deal I usually read the subtitles anyways.
