Thanks :) puh just completed my third playthrough, TW2 is really a fantastic game.
My favorite one after BG2 + Addon. Wish Sapkowski would write some new books which are settled in the witcher world.

It's good to see the mods are piling up over at GoG. I recomend the hud tweaks one, personally. I encourage everyone to post their impressions of any mod they try out so we can all be informed. ;)

Thanks for the link.

I was seriously happy someone made a mod to remove 3 of 4 of those startup clips of the logos.

It´s still chronologically the first. Sword of Destiny (no idea what the English title will be), another cllection of stories is next. Then the full lenght novels.

No the short stories are not chronologically^^ sure the stories are placed before the events of the novels but you dont need to read them before. But for example you cant start with tower of the swallow (4 book i think) cos you wont understand a thing. Its like Silmarillion and Lord of the Rings

so between the collections of different witcher media, TW2 is the most chronologically recent?

Just clarifying.

you should start with the short stories --> 5 novels --> TW1 --> TW2 cos the short stories explain the world, how Geralt thinks about various things such as the elves (Toruviel) or "monsters" like the bewitched man in the wood.
The story of the game is acknowledged by sapkowski, dont know if the story is canon or not.

I don't really care about the game's canonicity; the whole Geralt dying and coming back with amnesia thing is not canon so what happens in the games stays in the games. I really enjoy the Witcher universe though. Have read the two books translated to English and played both games, and never get tired of it all.

AFAIK, he got paid anf answered CDP questions about world and characters when they were making the game. While it seems he will write about Geralt again, I read he wasn´t going to change the end, so the games won´t become alternaty universe.

The question is what is he doing about the various endings? so he can pick a canon ending of the games or he can ignore the game and start with geralt coming back from the fog.

More likely he´ll write more tales set before Ciri´s saga.

I´d like one of the final game endings to be "Something ends, Something Begins", or close.

I doubt it has anything to do with the patch, but after updating to Patch 1.1 last night I reached Flotsam and it seems that in many areas the sound mixing needs adjusting.

The dialog volume is too low compared to atmospheric sounds like church bells, etc. Is there no way to increase the dialog volume?

Not sure if anyone mentioned this already, anyway latest The Witcher 2 review:

It got a 3.5 out of 5. It's the same reviewer who gave Dragon Age 2 a 5 out of 5. That will teach CDProjekt to not recycle environments and make button pressing more awesome.

Lol. He admits that he gave it a low score because he is a terrible player. ;)

The thing that confuses me the most is these reviewers act as though they weren't given a game manual or journal tutorial to explain everything they complained about. It's disappointing as hell that we've reached a point where having to read something to learn how to play the game is considered an inconvenience.

Wow. I'm a very casual (ie Easy mode or get out) player and I didn't have nearly the trouble he had figuring the game out. Also the options we are allowed to select while Geralt's being interviewed are listed TOP DOWN the same way we're taught to read at a young age. Therefore it was obvious that I should start at the top of the list and work down. The ability to select different options was apparently meant for people on their second or better play-through. However, there's always someone who will go against common sense, and then flame the developer for their bad experience. :P

The inventory is a bit tedious, but a zero weight mod fixed that for me. I don't like inventory limits when the game throws truckloads of items my direction. The Witcher was more bearable in this regard.

Regarding the prologue dragon - the only complaint I have is when I'm supposed to lead Foltest away from the charging dragon. The interface is flipped 180 degrees so it took me a few deaths to figure out I had to use the backward key to move away from the dragon. Everything else is easy and fairly obvious, especially if you read tooltips, journal information, and the user guide.

Anyway, I love the game and would give it 5 stars easily, and I'm something of a critic about most things.

Everything apparently has to hold your hand.

If you don't like a game because you're bad at it, you're not allowed to review it.

The reviewer didn't have enough sense to adjust the difficulty down? Horrible excuse to lower a score. There is no shame in going easy considering the storyline is best reason to finish the game. :D
