Hahaha- This is kind of awesome- Obama is visiting Europe and stopped in Poland. So what did the Polish PM give as a gift? The Collector's Edition of TW2!

Imagine if they could get Obama to say it's a great game and highly praise it, plaster that quote on the reviews sites, president of the United States endorsing TW2.

Fox News report: Obama endorsing a game with full frontal nudity!!

Headlines:

~Obama voted out of office, result of spending too much time playing Witcher 2 and not enough running the nation.~

~Mrs Obama filing for divorce, replied when asked as to why; "He's spends too much f***ing time playing that video game and not enough attention to my needs."~

The Witcher saga, both books and games are real highlights for Poland, keep in mind the country is still young. It's not surprising, though I wonder what kind of media the US is going ot do if Obama endorses the game. Another Fox news fiasco just like Mass Effect?

Poland? young? lack of knowledge is great

Any information on sales chart this week for Witcher 2?

Well as it's only been out a week and that figure of 212k is the first weeks sales not including digital copies, will have to wait a week to find out 2nd weeks sales.

Witcher 2
Format ~ PC (not including digital sales)
Week 1
Americas 45,282
Japan N/A
EMEAA 166,947
Worldwide 212,229
Running Total 212,229

Dragon Age 2
Format ~ PC (not including digital sales)
Week 1
Americas 89,198
Japan N/A
EMEAA 54,632
Worldwide 143,830
Running Total 143,830

Most of sales for DA2 are for consoles, when and if TW2 comes on consoles which is their intent I believe then expect a simular pattern to follow there with TW2 outselling DA2 there too.

That's not very good for America.  The Witcher is a bigger force in Europe, especially Poland.  But those numbers in the Americas are about half of DA2.

Sales being what they are, I suspect it will have the same traditional fast curve downward.  So I'm not sure if it's going to be a success in the US.

Who cares about what's popular in America?

Keep in mind thats not counting digital sales like GoG, Steam, D2D. I'm sure the actual US sales are far higher.

Half of all games sales are in America. Heck, CDPJ focused on the english vo in their foreign presentations. They definitely want to have a hit here.

That's the same with DA2 sales as well.  Remember, those charts also don't include steam and the digital downloads either.

I'm just speaking plainly.  I like TW2 but I doubt it's going to be DA2's sales now.  A game never has an uptick from the previous week unless there's some huge special condition or if it's a holiday season.  So opening at 45,000 in the US probably means it's going to be a niche title.  We'll see.

That's why CDPJ wants to be on XBOX and PS3, because without that it might not be a break-even success.

I'm thinking digital sales in the U.S. push that number a lot higher. (I knew from day 1 I wanted the GOG version over a boxed copy.)

Now here's what i dont get about Henselt; the apparent ease for him to dismiss all of those and spit on Geralt's face. Geralt wasn't involved in any conspiracy, yet the King opted to act otherwise. (Dethmold has a huge role in this ofc). And he wouldn't change this outlook (evident at Philippas room when he had no intention of letting Geralt out alive) It was even implied that the Blue Stripes themselves weren't involved in the conspiracy (no evidence to this however). Also outright hanging without due process is sick, so i guess it was personal :D.
It made him a douche (CDP was outright successful in making him so. Good work). So yes I let Roche gut the fellah. "You wouldn't dare" my arse. :D
Anyway we all have our own experiences and outlooks in the game and that's what made it successful.

The Kaedweni troops aren't after Geralt when he comes back, they are after Roche.

Thing is Geralt is helping Roche, fighting side by side killing Henselt's troops, some of his top mercenaries etc. What is Henselt supposed to do? Stand aside and let him get away with it?

Well, people who said that in the VGChartz thread about DA2 sales were ignored when this was brought up. If people are going to analyze sales charts, they should be done as neutrally as possible and with the same measurement criteria. Since Digital Sales don't have the same kind of charts, we can only compare TW2 with DA2 using those charts. We can't add in digital sales because we don't know the figures for either.

I'm just pointing out the simple fact that--as much as I like TW2 and think the game is a more pleasant experience than DA2--I'm a little hesitant to think sales will be huge for this game. Based on what I've seen for all the games on that chart, "Word of Mouth" has very little direct impact. We'll see how quickly the curve slopes down, but I am more or less interest to see how it does in the long run.

Ok, I really do want to get the Witcher 2, but my laptop is kinda crappy.

I am primarily a console gamer, so should I get it now for the PC, or should I wait to see if they will announce the game for Xbox?

It's pretty likely that they'll be announcing an XBOX version pretty soon (it has an ESRB rating and everything) so it might be worth waiting. I've got a pretty good laptop and Witcher 2 makes it cry on anything above low settings haha.

Yeah, I think you should wait a few months. If nothing is announced, then go for the PC version.

Well at the end of the day TW2 is still a far better game anyway so its somewhat moot. Often times crap titles sell huge numbers based off hype, franchise alone, and marketing.

I don't blame CDP for wanting some console sales sucess, but unlike Bioware I'm pretty sure CDPR will do their best to make the PC versions of their games actually feel like a PC version and not a half assed port ala DA2.

Now if you're done trolling the TW2 thread, I'm sure there's a BDF meeting going on somewhere.

Yeah true, but Europe is the the biggest pc market in the world and Sapkowski's books are more popular than Tolkien's in  Continental Europe. ;)

Kaedwenis attacked Geralt first (i tried to watch but meh some ****** attacked me first), so there would've at least been something behind the scenes going on. Maybe I assume too much?  Or maybe the Kaedenis did too, since I was with Roche at the time. And since they we're the ones blockin him and Sile, he had no choice but to cut them down. Henselt didn't see this though and saw him immediately as a threat, which is I dunno a bad move for him.

Anyway I'm off to bed and you're welcome to any other comments, as i will look to them the next day.

They didnt specifically focus on English, they did English,German, Russian and French VO's. The games popularity is bigger in Europe, console games sell well here in the US, but in most of Europe it's PC games.

It's a pity that anybody who has even a slightly negative opinion is automatically called a troll.  I just said that I liked TW2 more than DA2.  (And I have no idea what BDF means).  I notice there's a lot more criticism on the GOG forums regarding TW2.  I'm just wondering now if TW2 will end up having TW3 if the sales doesn't match up to the hype.  (Or at least not seeing the sequel in America and it being European release only).

Yes, I know, but I was pointing out a presentation in Poland speaking the native language showed demo code using the english langugage with Polish Subtitles instead of Polish, which I thought was a bit weird.

If you can't really upgrade, I'd wait on the announcement of the xbox version. It may not look as pretty but I think the gameplay should be fine with a controller unlike the first Witcher game.
