Started a new game without using the imported saves and wow, Geralt's default gear sucks arse. A crappy leather jacket and 2 wooden sticks as weapons to boot.
Go with it! Craft better stuff as you reach Flotsam. If feels better than using imported or bonus item! And they kick azz too. Soon you'd drop them all. I loved my run with nothing but what game gives from start. Loved the crafted low level items. I was tempting to repeat it but at Insane diff that's not really appealing. =}

I had lost my TW1 save and really missed Sihill (wished Zoltan gave us a new one again), Lady fo the Lake SS and Raven armor. Geralt looks much better with them.
I could send you mine but he starts with D'yabl instead. I liked the other one I had better. But Raven and Aerondight are still there. (sided with squirrels and Triss... going to continue the Shani run sometime. Halted In Act 3. =)
But the Robust Cutlass is my favorite early steel sword. Can craft it right away and good damage, until I can make the Jagged Blade.

These should still work.

I really loved the lower vampires in TW1 and was looking forward to seeing Fleders, Garkains, and Bruxa. Ah well. I hold out hope for dlc. I actually liked the monster killing quests myself.
I too like the monster killing, but in TW1 it was just kill x ammount of monster or get an ingredient, in TW2 monster contracts have a real quest behind, like for example Nekkers where we explode lairs, to Gargoyles where we have the rune puzzles, it would be awesome if they would come with many more of these its brilliant.

First endrega I met on the way gave me a trophy! (+3 AC). First Nekker gave me a Greater Critical Mutagen. I ain't dying... I ain't dying... *repeat to self* ... now to the mother-in-lay b-day party and then win a troll's head in a poker game!

the 'problem', for some, is that one (or some? or all?) of those saves carry over a LOT of cash (I personally didn't mind
We're talking around 245,000 orens when you start your The Witcher 2 playthrough.
(did a quick check, and the link above is one of those. I used the Neutral, Triss one)

I bought this game and its ok. I think there are good and bad aspects about it. But I don't see what all the hype's about.
It's not hype, it's been a positive reception.
Your assessment doesn't surprise me, given how you have constantly expressed Skyrim's superiority.

Gosh... I'm a chicken! Still didn't need to use the reload-before-death trick but I'm avoiding combat like a vampire avoids garlic or a crucifix! Done all the non combat quests before venturing in the forest, went for the troll for the "notice board" contract (actually I want the damn hunter's armor asap. Best act 1 armor, imho) and I was so scared of dying before making him yield that I almost pissed my pants when he started hitting... damn thing hit hard in Insane! hehe

Like you said, there is a bug regarding sign casting. This alone would keep me from trying insane difficulty. I would wait till more stuff is patched Rage.

Problem is I can't get myself to play any other diff but Insane. Well, there's the reload-before-death trick if the bug attacks, cheap as it may be, until game is patched and issue is fixed, it's the least we can do. Dying on Insane due to a bug is like losing a level 90+ D2 Hardcore due to power shortage! Hurts a lot!

I cringed at that one. It was horrible imo. The ones in the mine in Vergen were far more tasteful.

Aw, c'mon! It was great! I'd pay to see Geralt as Frodo, running barefooted to the top of Orodruin!
PS.: Huzza for my first Insane Nekker's Cave. I should have made a video of it. My best fight ever with this game. Too bad that fraps kills my FPS making combat even harder so no, no vids... heh

Ty to GvazElite for providing the links.
"Yep, you can email some automated emails and get them all automatically
those are the links from said emails. They also have no drm on it. unlike originally."
Hmm... I'm trying to download each of these but when I try to run it, I get the error: "Not enough privledges to patch the game"
Any tips here? I have the Steam version, and to my knowledge it's already patched (It redownloaded already).
EDIT : Maybe change the download folder it's put in (To the TW2 one)? If not I'll just go through the emails, but don't they just link you to the above links anyway?

What are the consequences of how Geralt ends his relationship with Henselt?
SPOILERS BELOW!!!
I allowed Roche Kill Henselt.
Anytime a King goes to war or personally commands his armies in battle, he takes a huge risk. He risks defeat, or being accidentally killed.
I let Henselt get unlucky this time. All that talk about keeping sorceresses and Nilfgard in check is not relevant to the fact that he miscalculated and paid a heavy price
What now are the consequences?

Well, kaedwen probably destined for civil war, Temeria and Redania united under the king of Redania and foltests daughter. I allowed on the Roche path for him to kill Henslit, and conclude above from what I did.
