well she help Geralt,Yen and someone else(not spoil story) but not in a way that Yen was expected. How Triss help them?... Wait for last book ;).

And one thing... Triss maybe is selfish in some way but she's not someone who doesn't care about Geralt, Yen and specially someone else ... I hope I'm not spoil too much.

New preview!

http://www.destructo...gs-198746.phtml

Overall, my 7 hours or so with The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings left me very impressed. Again, I didn't play The Witcher as much as I would've liked, but the difference between the two games feels like the difference between Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. Everything from the gameplay to the consistently high quality of cutscenes and the voice acting just feels like a labor of love by CD Projekt RED.

I looked back on my experience with Dragon Age II afterwards, and BioWare's fantasy RPG now feels like it's in almost every way a mere toddler in the shadow of The Witcher 2. That's not to say DA II sucked, but a single village in The Witcher 2 already has more personality than all of Kirkwall. Moreover, the politics now run deep without treating you like a child for once. Characters feel human and treat you like an adult, the player is expected to deal with temporal jumps in narrative to keep up with the story, choices actually carry weight, and oh my god the breast textures!

Not that it's a male-oriented or misogynist game in any way, just because it deals with adult content matter. There's plenty of manflesh and pretty boys to admire as well, and the female characters are strong, confident, and don't take any **** or act like girly caricatures. Triss Merigold in particular already feels like she's going to be a fan favorite of gamers regardless of their gender; which is how it should be.

I knew I should keep my eye on The Witcher 2 even before I first saw it in action last year, but now that I've finally played it I feel confident enough to say that as a PC owner you're not likely to find anything like it all year. Sorry Hawke, but your cardboard persona is about to be witched in half. And Shepard? I still love you and I know you star in a different kind of RPG. But I'm really, really glad that your third space adventure is scheduled six months away from what will inevitably be Geralt's assassination of our social lives.

I can say only this... the one who pirates this game is trully deserving public castration...devs can't do any better for PC players in this case...

Actually I´m waiting to see if the last book will get an edition that is not divided in 2 tomes<_<. If the hardback due in a few months isn´t in a single tome I guess I´ll get the normal edition.

I know who the someone else is. Hope to see that one in game too. After reading the saga the game feels incomplete without its big 3.

My inner feminist had quite a knee-jerk reaction seeing that..

I can't say that I blame you Chaos-fusion. (great Signature BTW)
My purely Animal Hetero-Male reaction is: Wow!
My Higher-Thinking, "Man-who-supports-Women's-issues" reaction is: What the heck are they thinking?
And my Gamer reaction is: Thanks for setting the image of Gamers back decades!
So, I'm obviously slightly conflicted...but the two-thirds of me that's using my mind to think on this doesn't like it at all.

Good to see characterization tossed out the window for the sake of sexually charged marketing. <_< That is an almost total disconnect with the Triss in that recent gameplay video that freaked out when a guard stumbled in to interrupt her and Geralt. I would not have expected someone so concerned with modesty to pose for Playboy.

On a vaguely related note, I prefer Shani. I never played the Witcher, but based on what I read on its Wiki pages and pure physical appeal, Triss is not as pretty and does seem manipulative. Maybe I would feel differently if I played the first game. Doubt that will ever happen, though.

This is hilarious. I don't mind DRM but CDP has annoyed me to no end with its bashing of every other developer, especially Valve, for using it and now look what The Witcher 2 has.
And people still worship CDP.

They never did bash anyone. Fans and internauts do it all the time - ergo, people think and receive this as if CDP is looking down on every other dev.... which is not true. They may dissagree with politics but never said that some other dev/publisher is ****...
People should stop make up false accusations without proper quotes to back'em up. <_< and that goes for all the haters out there.

Modest sorceress is an oxymoron
C'mon Gloom, its a promo - I rather look at it as a intriguing thing - for the 1st time I see a made up character on the cover of a real T&A cult magazine. And in pixels! :D
Whether you like it or not Triss will be objectified. Besides sorceressess were always very sexual in the books - they liked to parade before men to drive'em crazy and to show off something they can never have - as twisted as they were.
I dont see the problem here.

Not a false accusation. I read a long article about a year ago by one of the high-ups that was filled with lies about Steam. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it today; else I'd have linked you right now.

It would be good if you could quote that. Some versions of W2 will feature DRM (thankfully not a pain-in-the-ass one) but on GOG and perhaps somewhere else too, you can get it DRM-free.

Right, I've decided I need to do another playthrough with going with Shani this time. Went with Triss before because I couldn't work out which one was best (Triss was better able to deal with the mage stuff but even then I thought she was a bit too dodgy) and so went with Triss because she seemed to be the 'expected' choice and canon romance from the books. Then I read the two books in english and discovered that she wasn't, and was even more manipulative than I realised (cunningly done in Witcher 1 I must say), and figure that the default no-import will probably assumed you went with Triss anyway and so need a import that doesn't just to see the differences. :D

I hope this gives Bioware a run for it's money. Considering the job they did with Dragon Age 2.

Wrong. I destroyed my altar just yesterday. :P

Seriously though, I was pissed when I heard this. They sort of led people on, and then WHAM...Securom! I don't like it. I also know, however, that their deal on GoG is still better than what any other major publisher offers today. Clearly this is where they want the fans to buy their game as all the cash goes to them. Planned all along? I doubt it. Pissing off your fanbase never works. Maybe they weren't able to hash out the kind of deal with Atari they had originally wanted.

They told us that the physical copies would have DRM, but I wasn't expectng this.

Oh, and on Triss posing nude: you guys, they have always had a nonchalant attitude toward nudity and sex and I believe they did this for TW1 as well. Its just a promo, not the in-game Triss. And a pretty cute Idea actually. I chuckled when I saw it.

the DRM consists of downloading 50 MB file and being online once. You can always get the GOG version...but wait ...you'll have to be online while downloading the game is that supposted to be the reason to not to buy or be pissed off now? If you want to buy the retail version you'll have to order it online or actually GO to the gameshop no?...

come on guys this is nitpicking...

I've heard Securom installs nasty stuff on your pc. That's all I want cleared up. The rest of the DRM package doesn't bother me. But I'd like to know what they will do for customers without internet connections...

It's a lame ass promo. If Triss was an exhibitionist in the actual game, I would not care. It would befit her character. I am also nonchalant when it comes to sex and nudity. I think sex and nudity is great and should be enjoyed and appreciated; not balked at.

I *also* think it should be used sensibly outside pornography. Triss being showed off that way is blatant pandering. There is nothing else to it. Everyone is free to react however they wish. That does not mean CD Projekt's attitude towards sex and nudity gives them a free pass on criticism.

There are versions of SecuRom...in this particular case it requires the aforementioned...download 50 MB file...case closed...and those who doesn't have internet connection...I don't think that there are too many individuals without inet which could be deemed as possible customers as this game is advertised mainly throughout the net...and to tell the truth...everyone that can afford decent PC that can run TW2 should have a decent connection by now...

Clarification:
retail copies wont have to dl anything. You only need a few minutes of inet connection to ACTIVATE the game by entering product validation key - this is the SECUROM that is present on hard copies of the game.
GOG version - you pre-download 90% of the game, wait til may 17th, then dl the missing 50MB or so and play :)

AFAIK - if somebody have a quote on that please correct me if I'm wrong ;)

I agree, it was not one of the good decisions by CDPR.

I'd rather have one poster of Triss looking hot then a character who talks abou sex through the entire game like Isabella.

If the game is as good as the advertisement makes one believe, noone will pirate it anyways. People want to support good developers.

EVERY promo that consists of more than actual gameplay videos played without cheats or special modes is lame.

That is to say, EVERY promo with no exceptions.

Being sh!t and giving a wrong impression of the product is the entire POINT in marketing.

Honestly, that's as cute as it's naive. Maybe, I'll give you that, will it convince a few more then usual, but people can and will pirate anything. Any game, any movie, even before they are released. It's refreshing that you still believe in some good in people, and I really hope TW2 get's a huge success (so it could, maybe, work as a role model, even for BioWare).
But it could be the best game ever made, and people will pirate it.
