In fact I had expected HIM to be behind the King Slayings when I first encountered him in Act 3.

I thought I would throw this idea out regarding Ves. There is a possibility that she was not raped. Geralt said he did not believe her story, that she lied. After all she was not hanged with the rest.
Earlier in the game when you talk to dethmold as Triss, he says the king has no heir and that Sile was working on a potion so he could have a child again with a strong woman, at least I thought he said strong. Could Ves had been given an offer she would not refuse, such as having the kid with the King? Just a thought after listening on my second run.

BTW Duke Nukem doesn't hold a candle to the baddassery of Roche or Ioverth.

Hmm... I'm trying to download each of these but when I try to run it, I get the error: "Not enough privledges to patch the game"
Any tips here? I have the Steam version, and to my knowledge it's already patched (It redownloaded already).
EDIT : Maybe change the download folder it's put in (To the TW2 one)? If not I'll just go through the emails, but don't they just link you to the above links anyway?
It install with a patcher but you need to run them as administrator if you don't have complete administrator privileges in your account (which is not default for Win 7 with UAC on). Right click and "run as administrator".

Excuse to use this

And now I really want to start my 2nd playthrough and see what's all the fuss with Iorveth.

Agreed. Iorveths VA makes my hetrosexual sack tingle a bit.
Roche gets the bro love.

I'm going through another playthrough siding with Roche.
As for Ioverth, it's his personality and take-no-****-from-anyone attitude. His entrance to the War Council at Vergen, his reinforcements in the battle, and his dialogue which is oddly philosphical (which is awesome).
Oddly enough, when I began the playthrough I liked Roche alot (still do) but when I finally met Ioverth (the actual meeting with Zoltan, not the introduction in Act 1) I took an instant liking.

Well, I'm getting an average of 45 FPS now with these settings since the patch.
if you can do that, edit your user.ini in your witcher 2 folder in your documents with this (replace the rendering section)
[Rendering]
TextureDownscale=0
AtlasTextureDownscale=0
DetailTextureDownscale=0
MaxTextureSize=1024
MaxAtlasTextureSize=2048
TextureMemoryBudget=500
TextureTimeBudget=10
MaxCubeShadowSize=512
MaxCubeShadowCount=2
MaxSpotShadowSize=512
MaxSpotShadowCount=2
FoliageDistanceScale=0.9
MeshDistanceScale=0.9
CharacterLodGameplayDownscale=0
AllowBloom=0
AllowShafts=1
AllowAntialias=0
AllowBlur=0
AllowDOF=0
AllowDecals=1.0
AllowVignette=1
AllowSharpen=0
AllowRain=1
AllowSSAO=0
AllowMotionBlur=0
AllowScatterDOF=0
AllowCutsceneDOF=0
DanglesLimiter=0
ShadowQuality=2
ShadowedLights=2
Fullscreen=1
VSync=0
UberSampling=0
and set that file to read only so the game doesn't overwrite it.
Tell me what that does for you, it should increase the graphics either subtly or nicely with a minor to no fps hit.
edit: This forum really needs to drop this ****ty layout and WYSIWYG editor. It all sucks.

I think Henselt offered her the choice of sleeping with him in exchange for her life. Not technically rape, but not exactly consensual sex either.orbit991 wrote...

One question, I went with Iorveth's path. In act 3 does Triss die if you don't save her?

Dunno if we're supposed to talk about The Witcher 1 here, but does anyone think we'll find out what happened to Alvin? I know people think he is the Grandmaster, and many signs point to it, but I dunno, my Geralt and Alvin were on good times, I can't see him turning against me, I was pretty much his father. If Alvin was the Granmaster, why was Salamandra after him?

Stable Time Loop
Surely though the Grandmaster wouldn't have wanted to kidnap Alvin in Chapter 3, otherwise Alvin wouldn't be around Murky Waters to have got the Dimerterium Amulet and teleported out in the battle?
I think time travel is very high fantasy and inappropriate in the Witcher's realm, but it's one of the most perplexing mysteries of the first game. I couldn't stop thinking about it when I finished, even more than the Witcher assassin at the end.

Time travel is appropriate in the Witcher lore. Ciri teleported herself numerous times at one ocassion and saw different timelines and universes.
