But it sucks that I managed to keep him alive for some 10 minutes, without getting injured at all, and nothing worked on the tentacles. Not the Kayran Trap, not the Yrden enhanced with Petri's Philter, nothing! Is there something wrong with this fight in Insane difficulty?

Then you just frankly suck if you couldn't figure that out. the middle two tentacles cannot be trapped, and they can one shot you.

Edit.: (At least I didn't reduced diff for the fight. And yes, I hadn't figured that out. Nor that the trap has a fixed spot on the map. I actually thought that was the armed trap! =)

I was #1 USEast Diablo classic HC Ladder for a long while in 2001 before moving to LOD and then it was 100x Mephisto runs a day, Hell diff. And a power shortage or HD crash killing my lvl 90+ toon hurted more than the kayran killing my Geralt because I hadn't figured out the exact mechanics of that fight but now I have.

SCREW HARD DIFF. (that would be like going D2 vanilla softcore when dying in HC)

I'm restarting Insane! =)  Hardcore FTW!

And lastly, I've been playing The Witcher 2 the last week and well, HOLY CRAP what an awesome game. It's so ridiculously gorgeous, and it's great to see towns really fleshed out, and the combat system is incredible. That is all

I read that Destructoid review of TW2 and was pretty outraged the way it reviewed DA2 vs TW2.

I just got to chapter 2, started out on Hardcore, and I've been slaying Harpies left and right getting practice with Heliotrope. The beginning of Chapter 2 had me sit up straight in my seat it was so cool.

The only fight that really pissed me off was the Kayran fight. That was the only time I felt like thrashing my computer.

The fight with Letho on the other hand, was extremely fun, and was challenging in the good way

That review is just terrible and he gave Modern Warfare 2 a 9.5. I could care less what he thinks.

The magic tree! heliotriop is badass. But it does feel overpowered the Quen sign at rank III. I had an easy time in the game on Hard with the magic tree.

Cheater.. You can't get Heliotrope sign just at the beginning of Chapter 2.

There'll always be magazine reviewers that either have agendas or simply aren't that much into RPGs.

Or, the younger crowd reviews, which are more used to instant gratification, and are appalled that you die in a game without adjusting strategy and improving your tactics.

The game IS receiving general critical acclaim, great user ratings and has sold 220k units in the first week (nearly topping DA2 PC sales after 10 weeks).

TW2 does have some (obvious) flaws  - the rushed Act 3 for example, but overall, outside of Origins, I can't think of any RPG on par with it since BG2/KOTOR.

Lol, I actually have no idea how to cheat on TW2 yet. The only thing I've done that would be considered "cheating" is I took the mod that lowers the weight of the crafting diagrams.

No, I actually spent like 3 hours grinding in the waterfall cave in Chapter 1 outside of Flotsam because I wanted to get used to the new combat mechanics and get a perfect control over combat mobility. And I ofcourse did every sidequest.

But yeah, I spent a ton of time on Chapter 1 just wandering the forest killing every creature in sight and then selling all the lesser mutagens and nekker alchemy items for gold.

yeah, no cheating was involved to get heliotrope. I'm only level 18

Yeah, I have this nasty habit of starting video games on their hardest difficulty possible My first playthrough of ME2 was as my canon femshep Adept. I *hated* the collectorship that first time around

Personally, I don't think BG2 or Kotor hold a candle to TW2 simply on the basis of fun combat that is a great straddling-of-the-fence between a number crunching game and player skill.

Act 3 may be a little short but it is not rushed. I got a nice closure from it and great wish for what's next.

I hear people saying that their imported saves from TW1 gave them lots of Orens at the start. I have some 14,000 orens in my save and I'm always starting with 200 orens. Is that right? grrrr

I had like 30k Orens and remember not having much to spend.

@javierabegazo3 hours?! And you managed to get the Heliotrop sign. I know the enemies don't give much experience...damn:mellow:
