the DRM consists of downloading 50 MB file and being online once. You can always get the GOG version...but wait ...you'll have to be online while downloading the game is that supposted to be the reason to not to buy or be pissed off now? If you want to buy the retail version you'll have to order it online or actually GO to the gameshop no?...
come on guys this is nitpicking...
I've heard Securom installs nasty stuff on your pc. That's all I want cleared up. The rest of the DRM package doesn't bother me. But I'd like to know what they will do for customers without internet connections...
mdr, slimgrim costumer without internet connection do you live in 1950 no, in 2011 and around 99 % people have internet or have acces to it.the only people who yell about drm is the pirate and the drm in tw2 isn't as worse at dragon age 2 which you have to be connect at internet all the time

There are versions of SecuRom...in this particular case it requires the aforementioned...download 50 MB file...case closed...and those who doesn't have internet connection...I don't think that there are too many individuals without inet which could be deemed as possible customers as this game is advertised mainly throughout the net...and to tell the truth...everyone that can afford decent PC that can run TW2 should have a decent connection by now...

The Witcher 2 is a single character action RPG whilst DA2 is a party focused realtime with pause affair. Comparing graphics, plot, character development and such is certainly possible, but the games' core combat is dissimilar enough to feel forced. The only way it could be farther off is I were comparing DA2 combat to something like Deus EX: Human Revolution.
I just think the inevitable comparisons to TW2 and specifically DA2 (not DAO) in part stem from DA2 willfully veering into the more action RPG direction- sure the party is still there, but in my experience at least, combat and encounters are such that you generally don't need to get down and dirty with micromanaging party members unless you're on Nightmare or maybe only certain encounters on Hard. Thats one of the problems with DA2 IMO, it doesn't have a strong identity as a party based pause and play affair, when you can rather easily get through the game without pausing and without having to utilize your party members- at that point, you may as well be playing an unabashedly action RPG like TW2.
And then of course the improvements that TW2 seems to be making in terms of graphics, setting, being a PC game- basically, its seems CD Projekt is more in tune with what their audience wants from a Witcher game as opposed to DA2's marketing and appeals which turned off a good number of people to DA, I think. Beyond that, TW2 just seems like a more polished product- we won't know until launch, but given their track record with not abandoning TW1 after its buggy launch as opposed to the relative lack of support with some of BioWare's recent titles, thats something else to take note of.
and mdr seagloom it's bioware fan who begin before the release of da2 because saying dragon age 2 will be the best .. ect and now after finish it as me remind what's they says and take time to think at that period we were a little too optimistic ( now i say that's if there is a dragon age 3 i wait io buy it in ""occasion") ip ray that me3 don't to the same thing

I avoid RPGs without an option to play as a female character.
I think you should just stop to look at Witcher as an RPG. Imo it´s not one. It has a predefined character, to start with....
Personally, I quite enjoyed the first one, but I never saw it as a real RPG. Rather an action game with RPG elements. One could say, actually, it is what DA2 tried to be and failed.

That is so wrong. Pirates don´t have a reason to complain about it because in their games it doesn´t exist anyways.
Like all so-called "anti-piracy" measures, DRM only harms those who actually buy the game, whereas the pirates arent affected.

"Planescape: Torment" had a predefined character too. I consider it one of the best RPGs ever made. I see "the Witcher" games as action-RPGs. Belonging to a subgenre still qualifies in my eyes.

HUZZAH!!
Edit - I should clarify. The boxing minigame still uses them, but all others will be disabled. I assume this goes for boss fights as well, which was my concern.

Quick Time Events. They are purely optional it's for finishing combat quicker or something i believe. Good move though!

An example of Quick Time Events:
So if I understand correctly, QTE means "click when sign says to insta-win". right?
Seems stupid I think.
But then, if it´s optional it´s a good thing.

Correct. They should never have been invented.
And man, I had no idea God of War had that many QTE's in the boss fights. It looks ridiculous.

But come on God of War is a button masher for a game like that it's fine. Rpg's not so much.
