A couple of Geralt of Rivia/Witcher questions:

How old is Geralt and how long do witchers live for before they start to decline physically? I'm curious because when Geralt suggests he'll wait until Cedric is sober, Cedric retorts that with his mutations he might live long enough to do so. As to his age I would guess late 30s to early 50s but I'm not sure if this is covered in the lore.

How superhuman are witchers? They don't get sick, are fairly resistant to poisons, heal quickly and have very fast reflexes, but how strong are they? It seems like a human arm wrestling a witcher would be a very bad idea from some of his fights. If Geralt could cut through the Kayran's tentacle in 3 or 4 sword strikes, I would guess an arm wresting match would be reminiscent of the arm wrestling match in Cronenberg's the Fly remake.

Witchers have heightened senses and reflexes more than anything. They aren't super strong.

My only complaint is that Geralt should have been played by Rainbow Dash.

Some patch 1.3 news

http://www.en.thewit...unity/entry/55/

It will support 4:3 aspect ratio moniters, dunno about 16:10 yet, however I play fine with 16:10 so no biggie for me.

And official forums are taking a long time to get up because the official site is being developed by an external company.

As for the game's nature... we do have to work with the feedback we receive. That said, we have to keep are heads cool, and make sure we are "fixing" our game, and not "changing it". We have to admit to our obvious shortcomings in some departments (tutorial, doors system, targeting system etc..).

But in spite of it all the reception around the world is great, and proves you can really make games you would love to play, challenge yourself as a developer (instead of just sticking to some "success formula"), and challenge your players as well. In the end we want an RPG to be a rewarding experience (story and gameplay-wise). Reward you do not work for is not actually a reward after all, is it?

I just want tank you Cd project red guys... This game is a masterpiece. a work maded with love and care... You guys rocks this game gived me a lot of sensation.. I'm embarrassed for CDPR fans, now that I've read the comments on that page. Glad we're not all whiny imbeciles (here, at least).

I suppose it's nice they say that the console version won't mean less support for the PC version. I don't believe it though. Just about any dev that goes multi-platform tends to neglect the PC fan base. We've all seen it happen many times. This has nothing to do with elitism or anything, it's publisher priorities, money talking, and I can guarantee that in the long run consoles will be more important to CDPR than PC. All they have to do is play the piracy card to justify it...like Rockstar, Ubisoft, Capcom. I just want to say TW2 coming to consoles can only mean bad things for the PC community, yet again. I know this won't be a popular opinion, but I've got history on my side here, unfortunately.

Slimgrin, if they keep to their current model, it should mean that they won't neglect the PC base.
From what I can tell, they released it to PCs first so that they could work out all the bugs and attend to the problems that players would inevitably have with the game.
If future releases are for the PC first, with the intention of patching it until it's near-perfect and ready for console release ... I'll be satisfied with that.
Also, remember they've stated that whatever they provide to the console community, they'll provide equally to the PC community. I don't see any reason to doubt them until they prove otherwise.

Plus, they've got a perfect cautionary tale in the form of Bioware. They're not going to forget it for at least another 10 years.

I thrust them... In fact they put a lot of love in theyr product.. And this is what make cd-project a different company and original one with his identity....Rockstar,Ubisoft,Capcom are always sided with console.. But if you notice company like rockstar that maded a nice game like Red Dead Redemption.. Console gaming or multyplatform don't mean always dumbed down games...

To me is more like: EA=Dumbed down games

As long as they develop for PC and port to console and don't do it the other way around I'll be happy.

Honestly, I'm not sure what the future holds for PC and console gaming. If you look at the XBox 360 it's almost a PC. I imagine after another iteration or two, if convergence continues it might be better to replace the console with a gaming standard for a PC that gets updated every 3 or 4 years. There is also the question of how much better can graphics get for games, I think if you look at the power of modern PC graphics cards, we're pretty close to the point where the skill of the artist is the limitation as opposed to the power of the hardware. That's probably a good thing, because it will shift the emphasis back to gameplay where it should have always been.

On the other hand with distributed computing and general lack of resources required for common PC tasks (surfing the net and word processing) the PC may become a piece of hardware only required by specialists (such as myself) who need dedicated workstations to perform tasks where parallelization doesn't offer significant performance benefits. In that case consoles may become the most powerful computing hardware the average person owns. This would make PC hardware prohibitively expensive and many technical programmers may switch to consoles for the good power/price ratio (e.g. MD simulations on PS3s). From my perspective this is the dystopic future, but it would be cheaper for the average consumer.

I see computers and consoles converging in the future, myself. With what the individual pieces of entertainment electronics are made to do today (e.g. a TV that surfs the internet, a console that plays Blu-Rays, a hi-fi that picks up 'net stations, a mobile tablet that can do pretty much all the things that all these other entertainment products do), it seems more logical to put everything into one package.

I hope the next generation of consoles is the last one. And I think that's a reasonable hope.

The alternative that you offer in your 3rd paragraph, Phoebus, is something I don't think even the average brainwashed consumer would stand for. That is, I don't think arbitrary limitations to products are going to be a viable business model for much longer-- especially once your average consumer realises that there is no need for these divides.

But they didn't even do that for TW2. Look at the UI, it's clearly made for console. No hardware mouse support for PC, and I tell you, the mouse control is terrible as a result.  No 16:10 ratio support. No in-game settings. No proper grid inventory; everything is console oriented. As a PC only  gamer, I'm well aquainted with this type of thing. It's almost always the result of sloppy cross-platform ports.

I noticed some of that, the mouse should have been used for targeting, also the lack of scroll wheel support (which could have been great for switching signs on the fly), however I was able to map commands to my extra mouse buttons by text editing the user.ini file.  The controls on the whole were unresponsive (keyboard too), but the game didn't require cat like agility so it wasn't a big deal.  I'll agree that the inventory could have been much better, alchemy too (I missed having to buy the base).

Now you're going just down a road that is not usual for you. Stop crying wolf. I might buy a console and buy a few games of the companies you mentioned, for some 5 bucks each, just to show how unjustified is this whole PC piracy thing. Console games are just as pirated and people do it for a living, earning money from such illegal business.

Any game company that goes console only hoping it will stop pirace are just not from this world because in this world I can buy RDR or any other console-exclusive **** in some corner downtown for 5 bucks!

We could have the unlock-mouse-cursor like the shift key in TW1. We could have few stuff inn UI better developed, sure. But they were true to their word. When they said long ago that they are PC gamers that love PC games and will continue making them, they were true.

Those "secret" lines hidden in one frame of a promotional video... they were true to them. If one day they decide to change, another dev in another country will take their place. The Piranhas will come back really strong with Gothic when the rights for the IP are back in their hands!

That's pretty cool, Rage. A cynic could say it was a calculated attempt at hooking their hardcore fans even more than they already are; and at having those hardcore fans disseminate company propaganda.
But I like to think they mean it :)

Can't say I was a big fan of TW1's swordplay. Hope it improves in the sequel.

Combat is sooooo much better this time around. http://www.youtube.c...?v=MyRZQJeA884] 25 minute gameplay[/url] <--- LOTs of combat. But thats on insane so don't expect to be rolling all over on normal though honestly the game punishes stupidity the same way Demon's Soul does.

Finally been getting time to play Witcher 2 again. Just got up to here...we all know what happens next just really like this shot. Love the look of Seltkirk's Armor.

Ahh Ves, always a good shot that one. Why can't we toast under Saskia... I mean, with Saskia!  *sighs*

And here's a plalist for all my TW2 vids. I won't be capturing them any more so soon or at least until I get a better video card. Insane diff with low FPS is too risky! =)

Warning... lots of Spoilers too, not only combat! =)
