Whats everyones favorite track on the soundtrack I'm curious, mine has to be track 22. Sorceresses.

@ Siven ~ I prefer the slower paced but much better thought out rmore realism approach to DA2 flashy child like approach.

Cliche decision but 1. Assassins of Kings. Just going to that beautiful menu hearing that epic song got me into the game already.

I also like a lot  3. The path of a Kingslayer, 8. An army lying in wait. I tend to like war marches, the epic and battle songs but I also enjoy a lot the calm, peaceful songs too. I just like everything about it, they nail the immersion perfectly.

I hear everyone complaining about the first playthrough's difficult learning curve...but anyone else feel like a god on the second playthrough? I was tearing **** up. The Nekker Cave that people cry about, was a cake walk for me. I didn't even reapply Quen, just rolled out of the group, threw a bomb, and took out like 8 of them.

Just seems to me that the game is more about skill than anything else. So people who suck obviously don't got the skills.

Yea on a second play I was doing things with ease. On my third play Im trying out new things and toying with enmies, I feel like I have full control of the fights. One just needs to keep focused, for instance during every fight I keep my mind on openngs between foes I can roll to, even thinking 2 rolls ahead so I can quickly in a couple presses of a button get behind the enemy and take a huge chungk of he's hp. It looks very cool and fluid. Those who just hack and complain it's your fault, use your heads a bit, there are so many tools to come on top with ease.

Of course you can Rage, I clap my hands for you. But you missed my point...those battles shouldn't be so difficult at this part of game. My point was, the beginning of the game shouldn't be harder than the end, it should be the other way around.

And you missed mine. First time I played , on Normal diff, I felt like a real noob and guess what... I was one! The fights are not harder at the start... we are the lousy gamers on our first time with the game. And honestly, if you think it gets easier later in the game, do an Insane run and fight the Operator, late act 3 boss, unprepared and too confident. Or just try button mashing against a gang of Knights of the Order early in chapter 3.

I like that, like in the Gothics/Risen, you have to be extremely careful at the start and things seems easier later on, until you find a Black Troll or the Operator... hehe

I think Quen once upgraded is a little unblanced on normal difficulty, so I don't use it much. On bigger, battles I'll still use it, but not vs a handful of enemies. On harder difficulties I don't know, has anyone else played on hard or insane and found it unbalanced?

There are enemies that can make a fully upgraded Quen wears off in One Hit, in Insane or Hard diff. Insane is harder than hard too.

Not sure I have a favorite... yet.  today I am liking a bunch of the faster paced ones, Path of the Kingslayer, Howl of the White Wolf, The Assassin Looms, The Wild Hunt, For a Higher Cause.  Yesterday it was A Nearly Peaceful Path and Regicide (both beautiful).   It is a lovely soundtrack in general though. Can't say there is one that I *don't* like at one time or another.
I even like the oh-so-delectably entitled "01_gog_bonus_track" and "02_gog_bonus_track"  today.

Just finished my 2nd playthrough.

I've never, ever, ever.... Seen a game that differs SO much depending on your choices.

I love it.
The story, the characters, the world that reacts to you, the combat, the choices, the brutality, the difficulty, the challenge,  etc.

Some issues, but nothing that really came close to harming the game experience for me:
- really bad Save Game system
- people slamming the door in my face constantly
- Alchemy being the red-headed step-child IMO... needs some tweaks, some stuff useable in combat etc.
- Act 3 missing a bit of side-content (you can easily end up in the game finale much sooner than you anticipated)

Fantastic game, and props to the developers.
You really get the feeling they put their hearts and souls into this.

I think we're just gonna have to disagree with each other here. I was a complete and fool n00b too in the beginning too and my impression was that, of course I was getting better as I was progressing but some skills I got (namely 360 parry, whirl, improved quen, etc) played A MAJOR role in it, that they made a bigger difference than the my skills improving with the game. Also the game HAS become easier for me later on (too much) as I expressed in examples in eariler posts; talking about normal difficulty of course, which well, most people has their first and maybe only (not my case) experience with the game, it's just my knowledge but I think most people agree that should be the one with the most balance.

I won't even mention the group finishers a.k.a win button. :pinched:

I believe it plays when Geralt and Roche team up to storm the Kadweani camp. Very appropriate.

I like most of the OST really. A nearly peaceful place. Wild Hunt. Sorceress. Higher Cause. The End is Never. And others.

hah!  I know, right?

I started to wait until the last second and run infront of them and click the door first.    :D   There should be a couple second window where you can just pop through the door. I mean, it is open, I am RIGHT THERE.

you made me laugh at that one though. I thought that only bothered me. lol

And yes, I wish there was a way to seperate playthroughs in my save games. :(  It's pretty messy.

Oh, but I did all sidequests except the Vran armor. :)
To end my case, I think they need to completely rebalance the game by making the beginning easier or the end game harder. In that they should also work on skill balancing and the levels.
I'm not trying to bash the game or anything like it, I just wish it was even more enjoyable, the combat system itself is so good. ^_^

That's what I mean: you did the side-quests and so you were rewarded with a higher level Geralt that made the game easier, whereas if you had not done the side-quests you would have a harder time later on.  It makes the side-quests even more meaningful but then that's just me.

I found the main problem with the beginning is that I kept holding off on using stuff because I kept thinking I was going to be prompted to use them at some point.  Because I had not been told to use bombs for instance I kept holding off expecting a tutorial battle for them, think I have been too well conditioned by modern tutorials. :D

On a side note ***MAJOR SPOILERS AHOY*** anyone else noticed on subsequent playthroughs that the priest who gets killed by Henselt is actually kinda close to the truth when he's telling Stennis about his vision??  He claims that he has had a vision in which Saskia was a serpent demon thing that would eat his right to rule or something?  Saskia is a dragon, and the eating thing could be a reference to one of the options of getting royal blood... I just thought that was a nice touch.

I'm torn between track 13 and track 15 myself.  Love 'em both, they have just that right mix of epic fantasy music mixed with metal that I like!

Installed the game and the first patch caused some problems, so I reinstalled and patched it up again. Graphics are on the lowest settings (damn my crap laptop) but the framerate is stable and it looks alright despite some low res textures.

Did you try playing around the user.ini file your My Documents\\Witcher 2\\Config directory.  I find that the default low, medium, and high settings aren't well optimized. I.e. they should be trying to max out the textures before they start improving shadows, etc. The textures will give you the most noticeable graphic upgrade and shadows and anti-aliasing tend to kill performance. The game recommended medium for me (I'm also playing on a laptop with a ATI Radeon HD 5870 with 1 Gig VRAM video card) but I found the game looked much better with custom settings, try these settings and then tweak them up or down:

I have stopped playing the game as i don't like the combat control that Geralt has, very slow and sluggish and keyboard controls very slow reactions.

Nothing to do with the difficulty, i am forced to combat in a certain way to get past enemies with very little control of Geralt.

When this is fixed i will continue with the game but not before it's fixed.

Game needs more character control where combat is involved and a better keyboard layout.

They aren't going to change the pacing and flow of combat. Geralt moves like a real person and I like that, nor do I feel this aspect of the game is broken. But there is a lag bug when switching hotkeys and I'm beginning to think I'm the only one noticing it. :?

If you haven't tapped said hotkey after Geralt has been running around a bit, it simply doesn't work and you have to tap it several times. After dong this, the key responds just fine. The one way around all this is to use the radial menu, but I'd rather use hotkeys and I found this to be very frustrating.

Yes, ideally we would be able to interrupt combat animations (or, at least the last 0.3-0.5) seconds of it, and start another action.

That's kind of a monumental task, though ... Unless you're not bothered by the lack of connection between action A and action B.

It's supposed to be like Demon's Soul's combat. Same thing in that game. You pressed a button and you can't interrupt the animaition. Your supposed to commit to either attacking, dodging, blocking or running. I guess since I spent a huge amount of time in Demon's Soul I'm used to it.
