EDIT: freedom don't justify mass murder

+1

Well there are a lot of examples in our real life history that shows murder does justify fighting for freedom.

In the Witcher it's not so black and white. Which is what I like so much about the first game. Socia'tel kill whoevery they need to to send a message but not all of them do. Tourviel let's Alvin go in Act 4 because he is a child and says after "we do not kill children" doesn't mean all the Socia'tel don't but also means some aren't only out for blood.

Someone brought up Socia'tel symbol is similar to the SS yet the Order forces the nonhumans into ghettos, kill them, send them to Old Vizima and most of all they were lead by a fanatical leader. Let's not forgot the glossary/codex shows the Nilfgaard wanted the Order to exist to counter the political Mage groups. Yet it didn't let the Order inside it's own borders because it doesn't want a powerful group to challenge them

The Order was created to hate anything nonhuman or different so in that way they are worse then the Socia'tel and well they are human so unlike the Dwarves and Elves they have rights so they can keep going around killing them and usually get away with it.

We can discuss if I'm right or someone else is right but true is that we all are right in some way. I pick neutral path and I not regret this.

It´s true. The neutral path is a good choice as well, especially since Witcher´s are suppposed to protect people, not fight for political goals.

Only the Order side I can´t justify.
Of course, in the end it turns out all right, but from what we know when the choice is to be made, I can´t justify picking their side at all.

Way to misinterpret what I was talking about dude:huh:. I was not comparing SS to all elves in general, only the certain deathsquad called "Vrihedd" led by the Iron Wolf.

Even that, Vrihedd is only a part of Scoia'Tael.

And their symbol:

There is a difference in killing for freedom and killing innocent people to make a point.

What if it's the only way to get attention?  To change the world?  Not saying it is right, but that's the point, none of them are really the 'right' choice, it's what you believe in.

Killing innocent people is not the way.

Sometimes innocent people die because they are at the wrong place at the wrong time but that is only accidental.

After reading this, all my technical concerns about the game are put to rest. Even the DRM isn't bad.

In the end its always the victor that writes the history...so a mass murder becomes a gallant victory over overwhelming forces... :/

EDIT:
On the drm subject - Furthermore, we will make every effort to cooperate with our publishing and distribution partners to remove the DRM in a postrelease update.
I think that will make ppl less stressed about the whole onboard drm argument...if not, well they will miss out what seems to becoming a rpg event of the decade ;)
...if not a century :D

I expect a number of patches to be honest. They need to get rid of the DRM, patch in native 16:10, and fix the inevitable bugs etc. How long that will take is the question.

Ah yes don't remind me. I play my games at 1920x1200 so I'll be getting the dreaded black bars. I have been playing Splinter Cell Conviction and it has the same issue and it has yet to be patched. But in all honesty I got so used to it I didn't even realize it was the same in Assassin's Creed 2 until I tried adjusting the resolution.

Still at least they have plans to patch in the resolution unlike Ubisoft.

As much as I like graphics for Witcher 2 I don't plan to upgrade until The Old Republic is close to launch. But imagine what DX11 could do in a game like this.

Though I don't really remember any GOOD rpg's actually ever caring for graphics to the extent of using all the latest tech. Though I wouldn't mind an rpg like Mass Effect 3 to use DX11. Have you guys seen this? Unreal Engine DX11 imagine a Mass Effect game with that!

But I do wish Bioware would either make an engine as awesome as the RedEngine or use theirs. As pretty as Mass Effect 2 was it does have a lot of flaws especially AA.

Don't forget you are talking about Bioware here...the were renowned for many things but graphics is not one of them...

I know that's what I meant rpg's usually that are good don't have the best graphics. Witcher 2 is an exception. But look at Gothic IV and Two Worlds 2. They sucked and were prettier then Origins. Some might say DA2 also.

Gothic 4 had pretty water, but horrid art direction across the board.

DA2 with high res texture pack looks much better.

It has DX11 support and it doesn't warrant the performance lost. Even with the texture pack I just have to use
TrufflesDuval Texture Mod. While over all it's an improvement from Origins it's still not as amazing as they what the doctors said at first "super hot"

And i based what I know of Gothic 4 off the demo. I own 2 and 3 and Forsaken Gods ehanced edition but I heard terrible things about 4.

I found it really odd that CD Projekt made a big deal out of releasing a non-DRM version. Seems like they are inviting piracy and since almost every other PC game comes with DRM, it's not like there were droves of customers who weren't going to buy the game if it had some kind of DRM.

Even forgetting about games, when was the last time you bought any kind of $40 software app that didn't have some form of DRM?

I tend to buy most of my games on Steam and I have absolutely no problem with Steamworks DRM.

Very constructive...

Well the drm won't be as invasive or limiting as in ME1 so I don't care. They plan to patch the Drm out so I don't really mind.

I was actually a little surprised that The Witcher II doesn't support DX11, with it being a cRPG, and the fact that DX11 has been available since 2009.
