Cant say it's happened to me but I did knock a guard out, he he ended up on the roof somehow dead of the prison right at start of game while back was quite amusing. I was like "Eh where did he go I didn't hit him THAT hard" then looked up his body crawled up in ball on ceiling.

Ah the game is getting impossible now, doing a side quest in a cave of Nekkers, it seems impossible, thees just too many and I get overwhelmed, any advice?

Sooooo patch 1.2 seems to be out now and I'm looking at ridiculous 9GB download on Steam again. Tried searching around for info but couldn't find anything worthwile. Are they going to bother with fixing this issue? Might as well let my computer stay on while I go do errands tomorrow *sigh*

anyone know where i can find kayran armor mod to remove the hood? i want the kayran armor but i hate the hood. i found some mod that basically made it to became astrogaus armor.. i don't want that.

i just want the armor without hood. anyone? thanks

Use a new strategy Potions, bombs and traps are your friends.

Bombs are really helpful against them, they tend to gang up for a nice explosion too eagerly.

@lyleoffmyspace Use traps and bombs if you're struggling with the nekkers in the caves. Quen (the magical armour aura) is also helpful.

@archaven No idea. Witcher Nexus might have something, though.

witcher nexus only offer the kayran armor replacement with astrogaus.. i wanted the kayran armor without hood.

I'm gonna give my feedback on my hard difficulty second play through the game. I just started yesterday, stopped before facing Arian La Valette.

Hard difficulty, I was expecting some hard battles. Ok, I prepared myself before going to the balista. Potions, oil to enhance damage...aaaaaaaaaaaaand it was piece of cake. It was soooooooo easy. I felt like playing another game. I think preparations really help against everything. But it was fun at the same time. I didn't even have to rely on quen. Now I'm gonna see how I develop against foes without potions to help.

Quen, bombs, necrophage oil, potions. Prepare yourself and go. Always works. If not, cheap, play cheap. That's how I got through it the first time.

I found the game combat to be so amazingly awesome.. i have no freaking idea all the whiners complaining about hard..

Fought Letho in the elven ruins.. that's an epic fight for me.

Don't say that, it's not all their fault. I think it's only game they ever that they screwed up the patches. You're gonna be missing some really good sales. Not to mention Valve games.

Nekkers... go to you Character Screen © and press enter... navigate to the monsters knowledge page... read about them... it should be 3/3 with the Book from the prologue... there is all you need to an easy victory against them. (just in case, it says to use fast attack and that they're very susceptible to bleeding (brown oil)

But remember... LOCK on target and finish it off then LOCK on the next one... if things get rough, retreat to a safe spot where they don't follow when they gang up and bomb them from there but bombs do really some low damage unless you're an alchemist. Quen up and spam fast attack against them with a good old silver sword on oil and watch them die like flies!

1 hit hopping through them to avoid flanking (which is often futile) is damn amazing, although foolish.

But it looks so cool, I can hardly resist. Awarded me quite a lot reloads.

The monsters always lose interest in me before they get to my traps, pretty annoying. Better craft more bombs....

I end up rolling about and spamming Quen so much....I feel really heap.

Lol this was really funny.. playing normal and it's really normal now.. Swarmed by rotfiends but i managed to dodge them out picking them one by one. When they start to explode i runaway. Only thing i'm using is a silver sword and vanilla quen (unupgraded). Throw a bomb or two to add in the fun.

Hmm, forgive me if I sound ignorant 'cos I don't have Steam, but is it possible to install the patch if you download it from the witcher site instead?

And yeah it is indeed unfortunate.

Nope. Tried, you can't. It would've been too easy I guess...<_<

Edit: Might as well add that I tried running the game in offline mode but it won't let me since the "patching" has already started.

Yrden. Yrden and patience are your best friends against him. Yrden is a must on 1x1 combat, it works live heaven. My strategy after losing something like 30 times was dead man's hand + yrden + knifes and avoid confrontation. While he was on quen I'd wait until it ended then put an yrden and while he was on the move to the trap, throw knives. Then slash him on the Yrden. Quen if you're low on hp. It took a while to come to this strategy but it worked very nice.

Yeah, I get it. You can also Igni him when he's Quenned, then run around and wait for him to drop his Quen, and Yrden him, et cetera. It's just not my idea of fun. The rest of the game more than makes up for this boss fight. My mileage has varied.

Just defeated the Kayran, gained two levels, and upgraded Quen.

Fighting groups of foes went from being impossible and rolling around for about 20 minutes being cheap to becoming a cakewalk.
