I felt the same way before, but I am pleased to say that I am having fun on Iorveth's path and I never thought I would say this but, Iorveth is almost as badass as Roche and maybe a bit more interesting.

That said, my canon would still be siding with Roche. Not only because I think I'll prefer Act 3 on Roche path (from what I very briefly glanced at in the game guide), but because siding with Iorveth, while it has its valid reason, does not make as much sense to me as siding with Roche.

I'm just joking.

You'll like Act III with Iorveth though. You learn ALOT in Act II that you didn't know with Roche (and Vice Versa). Its very cool that CDprojekt made you go through two different paths to get the ENTIRE store, because you will have no clue about the character depth of Dethmold if you do only Iorveth, or learn about Phillipa on Roche, etc.

I don't think the equivalent of Iorveth's 'Save the other person besides Triss' is as good though. The Anais quest is straight up better. And you have more mobility in Act III in general, and can explore more with Roche. You'll see though.

It pains me to say it, but I had just about as much fun with Iorveth as I did with Roche.

Roche too is my canon, as it is more neutral. More akin to what Geralt of the story would do imo.

Iorveth arrived right on time. Then again, I think the developers could have made it seem like Vergen was about to be taken if Iorveth didn't arrive. The way I saw it, we were at the second wall, and they were bottle-necked to the point where their numbers counted for nothing. It didn't seem like hope was lost. Iorveth's arrival seemed more like putting them out of their misery of climbing up and dying by Geralt and Saskia's hand. I hoped it would have been a little more like Twin Towers where all hope was lost.

Is anyone's else mouse really dogy in the Menus?

It's so slow and impossible to navigate in the menus, but the camera movement in the game is fine. Just when I have a cursor I feel like dying because everything is so so slow and unresponsive. I've changed some settings in the .ini but nothing appears to have worked :(

When you guys complain on Steam support page via form or email, what do they say? You do complain there, right? I mean, you can vent it off here but really should let them know about it.

You seriously think STEAM isn't aware of this?

http://forums.steamp...d.php?t=1906223

Since the patching automatically started for me when I went to Steam after the weekend, I can no longer prevent the game from downloading the 9GB patch all over again. Game files are being re-written so trying to force the update to "go away" is not an option. Even if a Steam patch fix is introduced, I'm still stuck with removed and/or corrupted game files thanks to this error. Some people have dowloaded both patches at the 9GB size and ended up getting their whole damn game corrupted.

First I had to re-install Steam cos' it wouldn't understand that I'm simply trying to access my fiancé's account from another computer (seriously who the **** sets up a "protection" like that?). Then I had to wait 2 days for the Steam servers to free up so I could even start the game download. And now this patching joke...coupled with the fact that Steam hogs up so much bandwith and memory that I can't play anything while downloading.

As I said before, first and last game I ever buy on Steam. A piece of advice to any other Steam TW2 owners: play the game offline at all times. Otherwise you'll be stuck like I am.

Why would you even install steam on your PC? It's a piece of ****. It's an invasive piece of software that can only cause you problems with your games and PC. They can also delete or invalidate your games at any time and for any reason. You're essentially installing a middle man on your PC between you and your games you've paid for.

Tell me about it. I tried getting a digital copy from some of the other sites that sold TW2 digitally and the only one that actually accepted my Visa Electron took me all the way to the "Buy Product" buttong after which I got an error saying "Product not available for your country" LOLWUT??

I scoured the local department stores for retail copies and found none. I wanted to play the game real bad but only ended up being ****ed up by Steam completely. Guess I just to have to suck up living in this backwater town and buying retail games from now on, even if it means waiting for the game several days longer.

Try editing your user.ini in C:-Users-your username-Documents-Witcher 2-Config to

MouseSmoothness=0
SensitivityX=0
SensitivityY=0
Smoothness=0

Should help but it's also influenced by graphics settings. If your rig can run the game with good FPS, this should work fine. For me it helps but my GPU is kinda old so it still lags a bit to navigate some menus in game.

There's an easy fix for that and as a legit owner you should have no problem using it but I can't suggest it, as per forum rules... hehehe

You tried GOG? I can't imagine there being a problem there. Also no DRM.

IMO, Iorveth is a more complicated character, definitely more mysterious, but he does seem to have a smaller role in his Act 2 path as opposed to Roche in his.
While Phillippa and Saskia dominate the Act and Iorveth is definitely there but as support, I found Roche definitely more involved in his Act 2 path (won't go any further for fear of spoiling it to people).

My canon will be Roche Path, but having just played Iorveth's path, I absolutely loved that one as well.

The more I play the game, the more unpolished it seems.

It's a good game but there are loads of things they could improve on - controls, the bloody mouse in the mnues (they need hardware support, I heard right now it's only sofrware), the UI, just little things which eat at me and prevent full enjoyment of the game.

The only complaint i have and i am nitpicking is the alchemy screen. The game has an irritating habit of selecting rare ingredients so you always have to double check what it has assigned for each recipe. The character screen being separate just took some getting used to i didnt find that annoying at all.

Lyle, did you read my reply about mouse config?

I gave up and always save then drop all my rare or craft-specific ingredients that I do not want wasted on potions and oils before going into alchemy screen. That solves the problem. Saving before  is a must because in the event of a crash or anything, loot on the ground is erased on reload.

I wish there was a potion belt in the game that would let you quick-apply potions. You would still need to go to the alchemy screen if you wanted to drink a potion that wasn't on your belt, but if there were three potions, you always had active, then you could always reapply if they ran out.

It's not a big deal, since if you do invest in the alchemy tree potions are actually pretty OP, but it would just be nice to reapply a buff without having to meditate.

One thing I noticed after playing through the Campaign is that in terms of sides Roche/Iorveth. There isn't one that I completely hate, either one has aspects that are really good. But there are certain things I like over others.

<SPOILERS>

Flotsam: I like Roche's ending more, it's sadder, and more dramatic. Saving hookers from burning building is heroic and everything, but the bitter ending of the Roche ending just adds to the setting, and it really kicks people who say that The Witcher isn't darker than other fantasy settings in the balls. No other game has had a moment like the that.

Pontar Valley: I actually prefer most of Roches path because of the open setting. And really I'm pissed that we didn't get to still fight the Assassin's in Iorveth's path. That fight seems like...it really should be in both versions. Iorveth's path makes up for it with set-peices like the Harpy's Lair, and the meeting with the Nilfgaardian Ambassador is SO much better in this version. The ending to Iorveth's path is better IMO. Helping Vergen win feels better to me.

Act 3: First off, saving Triss is really the least interesting out of all options for some reason. The fact that she doesn't even know the whole truth irks me real bad too, since the reward for saving her is really nothing, and if you don't help Iorveth or Roche, you really feel like you are dooming the North in the upcoming war for nothing. Only reason to save her is to make it so the Mages don't get curbstomped by Radovid, but even if you do people still get curbstompped...just to a lesser degree.

I just finished playing this. A good game worthy of a second playthrough, a rarity among games in this day and age, with all the possible diverging paths in the story. I'd give it a 8 out of 10.

Regarding Roche/Iorveth paths... both are very cool to play and they complement each other, with different info on the plot, imho. But as mentioned, Roche's is more about Witcher's neutrality or Neutral/Lawful alignment while Iorveth's has Geralt siding with his long time friends, even if he doesn't remember them, being more Chaotic/Good.

That's how I see them anyway.

Nigawatts, I agree almost 100%
SPOILERS
And about saving Triss (Iorveth's path) instead of getting the dagger to restore Saskia, you do really get nothing, especially if you go for the dagger, Triss will be free anyway. Also I must say that choosing to kill Letho (done it just once to see how that goes) feels kind of empty, nothing is really gained. By that time relevant people already know that Geralt didn't kill Foltest. So for the cannon, I chose helping Iorveth, restoring Saskia to human form and sparing Letho. Roche has great path too, but this is better for me, after all it's all about personal preference.

Yeah, the mouse is much smoother now on the menus but it's still weird as hell on the meditation screen and when I'm selling to a Merchant. The lack of a junk tag also bothers me. I don't see the point in junk anyway, it seems completely pointless and I don't see why companys put it in the game. Even in BG2, a game with LOADS of items, there was very little junk.

I would like to bring back the inventory, merchant, and the alchemy screens from the original Witcher because they worked perfectly, and I really loved alchemy in that game. Not enjoying it as much in TW2.
