Seems reasonable enough for me though, if Ciri's grandchild would rule the entire world then he has solid reasons to speed things up.
Weird but whatever...Like Jaques he also sees the potential in Witchers...but unlike Jaques he wants full Witchers not just completely unhuman mutans.
SPOILERS.

That's roleplaying though, to you it may not matter, to my Geralt at least....well he would pay any price to save the world...and ask to be paid for it as well! "chuckle"
Well, there are supposedly infinite permutations of geralt under the mysterious influence of the Wild Hunt Ressurrection.

Sure. No worries mate. But it won't be short.
SPOILERS as hell, so prepare.
During the Thanedd revolt Ciri disappears, she teleports herself to the legendary Tor Zirael - the tower of the Swallow. She does so to escape pursuit by Vilgerfortz, then the most powerful mage in Northern Kingdoms. She succeeds, because Geralt engages him in combat and slows him down. The witcher is massacred - Vilgefortz doesn't kill him, but breaks many bones in his body. Geralt later reminds himselft that he didn't make any mistakes during the fight and that his only mistake was before the fight - he should have simply ran away.
Anyway, Ciri goes missing, Nilfgaard invades Northern Kingdoms and takes them by storm. Triss Merigold saves Geralt by teleporting him to Brokilion. There he slowly regenerates thanks to the help of the Dryads and their magic. After few week, he and Dandelion decides to go after Ciri, knowing only that she must be somewhere in Nilfgaard. In time many people join his journey - Milva (female archer), Cahir (Nilfgaardian knight), Regis (vampire) and Angoulême (bastard child of noble blood, but mostly a rogue) - (which in my opinion could make for a fantastic DA:O style rpg set in the Witcher universe) and they all travel to Nilfgaard. Adventures happen.
Finally Geralt learns that Vilgefortz has his hq in the castle Stygga, what's more he finally captured Ciri (again, Ciri and her life in Nilfgaard were all explained, but I'm skipping 3 books to make it short) and Yennefer (whom he captured to make Ciri more... cooperative). Geralt and his "team" assault the castle - all of his comrades die one way or another either protecting Geralt or Ciri. Vilgefortz is slained by Geralt with the help of Yennefer. They are all reunited. Then, the Nilfgaardians arrive - with the emperor himself.
Emhyr requests that Geralt speaks with him privately and tells his people to treat Yennefer and Ciri with utmost respect. Geralt recognizes him immediately as Duny, the husband of Pavetta and Ciri's father. Emhyr is polite - he grants Geralt the privilage of sitting in presence of the emperor for life. And they start talking, for real. Geralt knows that Emhyr plans to commit incest with his own daughter and is disgusted. Emhyr replies that Ciri will never know about her origin, that it's not about love - she will produce an heir, which in turn will produce a being that will unite the whole world and stop the Ithlinne prophecy from happening. Emhyr tells Geralt the end justifies the means. Then he states that he doesn't owe the witcher anything. Geralt replies that he does, that Ciri was promised to him, when he lifted the curse - as the Law of Surprise demands it. Anyway, Geralt knows that he cannot stop the emperor and knows that Emhyr will kill him and Yennefer to get rid of the loose ends, the people who know that Ciri is his daughter. Emhyr is frank with that, the conversation is honest - he proposes that Geralt and Yen slit their wrists in the hot bath "as people of honour did in the old times". Emhyr tells them to take their time and ask for the knife when they feel ready. He then promises to both of them that he will not hurt Ciri, then there is a final farewell. Ciri realizes that she will not be able to see Geralt and Yennefer anymore - there are tears, she vows to sooner kill herself than to allow Emhyr to touch her and so on. The witcher and his lover take the bath, make love for the last time and request for a knife. Surprisingly, it appears that everyone has left the castle and the only one left is Ciri. Enough to say that Geralt and Yennefer are both stunned and shocked - apparently Emhyr had a sudden change of heart, when he saw Ciri cry, when they were leaving the castle.
IT'S MUCH better explained in the books - and sounds much better as well ; ] I omitted a few things concerning the emperor - during the conversation Emhyr explains briefly the story behind his curse, origin and rise to power. But that maybe some other time...
So that's it... if anyone has any questions concering the Witcher books, then I'm always happy to help.

So that's how the Witcher saga ends in the books? I must ask though, are any battles in the north ( like Brenna ) portrayed or just referenced? I know Sodden hill is just referenced but I didn't get that far in book 2.
Emhyr is polite - he grants Geralt the privilage of sitting in presence of the emperor for life.
What do you mean by this though?

The books do not end this way. Stygga castle is in the middle of "Lady of the Lake" - battle of Brenna, meeting of the Lodge and finally the pogrom in Rivia happen all after that. And yes, they are very well described.
This privilage is a bit of a joke ; ] Geralt is exhausted after fighting Vilgefortz and can barely stand - Emhyr notices that and tells him to sit down, and grants him this "right". In Nilfgaard even the nobles are not allowed to sit down in the presence of the emperor until he allows it.

Even more perhaps. The Normal Critical Effect mutagen goes from 2% to 5% =)) And I hope it is intended indeed. Not much incentive to go alchemist otherwise.
I'm using the Sword of Kaer Mohren for fun's sake. It has slightly lower damage than my Superb Witcher's Silver Sword but it rocks! Just like The Negotiator. The dmg number on the swords is not all that matters after all.
oh yeah.. The Negotiator. IIRC, I obtained it so easily that I forgot about it in my inventory.
The Eternal Battle felt like an endless battle; I didn't like the idea and animation of male ghosts penetrating Geralt's
body.. I just wanted to 'shake off' that part and get on with the game. But! I had run out of Wraith Oil and thought
the best I had was the Blue Meteorite Silver Sword. Came up against the Draug, nothing worked and got owned again and again and again, and Insensed!
Switched to Easy and got out of there. Back at the empty camp though I took notice that I
had this forgotten little Negotiator with 20% chance of Freeze!! I just had to go back to the Eternal Battle save.
The Draug went down in a couple of Yrdens and a handful of hits. Die! Die! Die you unfair humungous piece of scrap!!

*sorta spoilers*
He is so hilarious. After leaving from the camp towards Vergen he kept wondering stuff like "Henselt or Deathmold, which one should I kill first? Any professional suggestions?"
I also find it curious that the writers haven't shipped him and Ves. Don't get me wrong, it's a good thing. It would be all too cheesy. I was just a tad suprised when he and Geralt got to the tent where Ves was sobbing in the corner. She ran to Geralt, not Roche. Roche seemed to treat her like a soldier above all else.

Yeah, Witcher 2's going to sweep this. Skyrim's cool and all, but I've yet to see an Elder Scrolls game with more than a token plot. Plus, RPG combat that's actually deep? Sign* me up.
*No pun intended.

You know technically TW2 shouldn't even be in that list considering itis merely a port (360) of an
existing game (PC).
Here me out, I'm merely basing this on the fact that most of the titles in that list have no real game you can play right now to form an opinion while TW2 you can play the PC version so people are basing a vote on the PC game and not the 360 version. There is a possibility that the game may suffer a slight hickup in the conversion, I'm betting it on control going from keyboard/Mouse to a gamepad since CDProject has shown they can do a lot with graphics.
Again note this is merely a concept that the vote should be based on all new games rather than a ported game.
and I'm betting I'll still get insulted for stating an opinion that prevents the game from getting an award.

Lol you should get kudos for being able to describe the whole story without mentioning Ciri's main arch-nemesis.
