My opinion is the first two chapters need bulking up, not the third one. At the end of act two is when things really start to take off, so it seemed appropriate chapter 3 was short.

After they patch bugs, I'll be begging for any DLC.

I'm itching for a "meaty" (10 to 20 hours) expansion pack. Since a sequel is most likely 3 to 4 years away smaller releases to fill the gaps would be nice.

I think they will definetely make an expansion (at least Tomasz Gop said so before he left). But considering CDP Red times, I think it will be next year... They will be busy for the next months with the console ports, so maybe we can hope for some more minor (free) DLC, but no more than that.

It's not like everyone will work on console port right now. Someone from CDPR said that in next few weeks we will see some DLC. And best thing - for free as always.
But I hope they give us great expansion. I can get enought of Witcher 2.

Update guys - source is a little vague, but it's the better than nothing.

It seems that patch 1.3 is ready, but there are some incompatibilties with the DLC. They are working now to fix it up. Probably it will be out in a few days.

And if comes to the news concerning the forum - well, mid August is the safest bet. Apparently the have to move all accounts from the old forum and website (with all the valuable data) to the new one, hence the extra care. Which, of course, doesn't change the fact that they blew it completely - missing the release date of the new game etc.

August!? I can't believe its taken them so long to get the forum up. Wonder what the issue with DLC will be. *sigh*

At least they're making the effort.

Well...given they are putting in support for most resolutions...I wouldn't complain.

Though I bet it's going to be a big patch and not just covering resolutions. Who knows maybe they have optimized the engine a bit more.
As for the forums...just WoW...epic failure.

I was expecting some nice CGI eye candy at the end like the assassin battle at the end of the Witcher, maybe Nilfgaard scouts clashing with patrols from the North around the Yaruga (since I'm guessing the Nilfgaard-North war will serve as the backdrop for Geralt's quest to find Yennifer and deal with the Wild Hunt in the 3rd game). I also expected the Hunt to make a couple of appearances in the second game like it did in the first. It would have been nice to explore Loc Muinne more and have a few more quests and political intrigue prior to the conclusion (maybe find out more about what has been going on in Temeria). For dramatic purposes, I think the Letho-Geralt fight should have been mandatory and you should have been left with the option to spare or kill him, after the chase you went through it ends a little flat if you share a few drinks, have a talk and go your separate ways.

Apart from that I think it a pretty good job of playing middle chapter, it progressed the plot (Geralt regains his memory and learns what the Wild Hunt is) and told a pretty complete story about Nilfgaard's covert strike at the North.

Damn, I think you nailed it pretty good!

I had this weird feeling on the runs I spared Letho. I so much wanted to beat him then have the option to spare him with a "Now we're no even again!" or "Now you owe me again!"... anything like that. After all, even when we kick his ass real hard (or real Insane for that matter) at the Elven Gardens we lose?!!

And yes, I'd have loved to see the Hunt in more than some drawings flashback and a cool end game cinematics like the first one had, too.

Perhaps they could arrange to add all that in a future patch/expansion! With the bugs/inventory fixing of course!  =)

Well, CDPR teamed up with Tomek Bagiński and his Platige Image studio again for the Xbox release. He was the director and one of the producers of the intro and outro from the Witcher. You could see some of his work for the Witcher 2 in the Xbox announcement trailer - guys at Red Studio promised to bring all the goodies from the Xbox conversion to the PC through patches - new cinematics included.

Get used to it. A game doesn't need to have the main character showing how badass he is at the end of it through an epic fight. That's just Hollywood BS for me that has destroyed storytelling in so many games.

To me the way TW2 ended....with Geralt walking away from Letho was one of the greatest moment in video gaming for me.

Though I must say I wouldn't have minded an outro cinematic!

Yea, they dropped the ball there sadly.

Agreed, I was less satisfied when I killed Letho, even though the fight was cool.
Helping Radovid, walking away from Letho with Triss and Roche wearing a Redenian uniform, was a great ending to me. I think it did lack the epic feeling the Witcher 1 had, but I thought it was more interesting.

And I would haved loved an outro cinematic showing the Nilgaardian army crossing the Yaruga. With maybe the King of the Wild Hunt watching from a distance.

- They outsourced Rise of the White Wolf, and it went down in a flaming heap.

- They outsourced the Dwarven character models to an Asian country in TW1, and got back Dwarves with slanted eyes ( true story)

- They outsourced the forums and they are months late.

Seeing a pattern here...

We can only hope that next time they will do everything in-house ; ]

One more thing about the cinematics. Platige Image has grown considerably since the times of the Witcher 1 - their work on it was definitely great, but there were things we could all complain about. I recently had a chance to watch some of their new projects on a festival in Gdynia - and it blew me away.

City of Ruins - trailer of a much longer movie showing the destroyed Warsaw. I've had chance to see the full movie in 3D - on a big screen it really makes a huge impression.

Paths of Hate - trailer again, but one that I had a pleasure of watching in the cinema - fantastic.

Not to mention their older works, by Bagiński himself

Fallen Art - Made in 2005 and in my opinion one of his finest works. The meaning of the name "Fallen Art" will become painfully clear after you watch it ; ]

Cathedral - arguably his most famous short, nominated for the Academy Award in 2003.

Look up the website for more - Platige Image. Just click "Projects" and check some of their work - commercials, short movies, trailers and such.

New DLC? Any sauce or pure speculations? It would be awesome if they release some story related DLCs.. If they do that, they will gain further reputations by not false advertising about free DLCs when it's not going to be alot of DLCs to start with.

They've already stated more DLC is on the way, but their plate is full and who knows when we'll get it. I'm just hoping next patch fixes delay bugs and inventory and I'll be happy. The replayability of this game is off the frakking charts.

@Luxorek: I had no idea Baginski was an established film maker. Talented guy. Anything he can add to TW2 is welcome.

As long as the DLC stays free, i dont expect much more the the odd quest like Troll Trouble. Anything larger like a bioware-esqe DLC i cant see happening for free.

I also hope they dont make an expansion.

I want them to go straight onto Witcher 3 now they have the great engine and it will be out quicker that the TW1-TW2 wait :D

?!

I want expansions for the next 2-4 years so Witcher 3 can be just as good if not better.

What, the gaming industry desperately needs proper expansions, let them show the DLC bandwagon milking bureaucrats that customers reward quality work.

Agreed. There's so many DLC's I've purchased that made me felt like I was cheated out of a few extra dollars. CDProject needs to come out guns blazing and blow everyone away with an expansion, you hardly see those around any more for RPG's, mainly just micro DLC's or minor quest packs.

I'm gonna say it. I wish they had outsourced the console port to a capable dev. Don't know why they have so much problem with this, but outsourcing can work out just fine. Look at ME1. A quality port. Deus Ex:HR seems to be as well. That would free their relatively small team ( 100+ I think ) for post release support for pc.

Out of curiosity who would handle the console port? Obsidian? Bioware? Bethesda? <Random RPG Dev Here>?

Bioware? please do not insult our game in here.
