But i've got to admit the Erlkings when he gives Yennefer back in exchange for Geralt looks like he's up to something, reminds me of the elder gods manipulations of his soul reaver in the legacy of kain.

Ithlinne's Prophecy
"An old elven prophecy about the end of the world: "The Wolf's Blizzard approaches, the time of the sword and axe. The Time of the White Frost and White Light, the Time of Madness and Disdain, Tedd Deireadh, the Final Age. The world will perish amidst ice and be reborn with the new sun. Reborn of the Elder Blood, of Hen Ichaer, of a planted seed. A seed that will not sprout but burst into flames!"
Ithlinne, an elven prophetess, is famous for her foretelling of the end of the world. According to her prophecy, the world will be destroyed by an ice age and all humans will die. The only survivors will be elves, saved by an offspring of the Elder Blood, known also as the Swallow. Several signs will herald the destruction of the world, and the cataclysm will begin when elven blood soaks the earth. This will mark the advent of the 'Time of Disdain, the Axe and the Wolf's Blizzard', which can be interpreted as a long war or a return to barbarism."
Ciri is of Elder Blood, so she certainly will play a major role. And I certainly hope that elves are not the only survivors. That...would be dull.
The Wild Hunt supposedely being able to avert the prophecy, to me at least, means that he could be the one behind it (or whoever commands him).
In any case, the Cavalcade is linked to it and they are usually seen as the omen of wars. A long war is poitentially a sign of the prophecy. And well it's coming seeing the end of TW2. Also blood of elves on the soil, I see, as persecution of elves, which does happen in TW1 and TW2 (Henselt).
Honestly, I'd rather they downplay all of it and keep it a mystery.
Oh and I hope that the Vyper Witcher School is explored further should the Wild Hunt become prominent. How awesome would it be if Letho, if spared, ends up helping Geralt fight the Hunt?

The Ithlinne prophecy speaks of ice age, that will befall the world. It's poetic, speaks of doom and it's correct, but... Sapkowski's trademark is his twisted sense of humour. He likes to mock old legends, ideals and history. But his mastery doesnt' lie there - it's his ability to boggle the mind of his readers.
The Ice age is inevitable and will happen... in six thousand years. Due to shifting of the planet's orbit. Not magic bullcrap, but science. Which, as I hope you know, is the domain of the mages - most folk (like Dandelion...) in the Witcher's world are more eager to believe that tidal waves are caused by a massive sea monster, than to say, a moon.
And even the mages do not fully realise why the Ice age is coming. They know only that with every decade temperature in Northern kingdoms goes down.
Wil Hunt doesn't have anything to do with the Ice age by the way. But it does have a lot to do with Ciri - she has, after all, visited their world.

That would be awesome.
Also if anyone has read the books, the insane bounty hunter Leo Bonhart had Witcher Medallions with Cats and Griffons for animal. Seeing as Kaer Morhen was the School of the Wolf and we now know there is a School of the Viper in the south, I wonder where the School of the Cat and the School of the Griffon are now.

So the wild hunt if i get what Luxorek is saying right is trying to get hold of a source to marry the Erlking and bear an uberkind that will tear open the wall between worlds and allow the elves to flee what they see as a doomed planet (because of the coming ice age), personally I don't trust prophecies because of the people who make them and the though I know nowt about this Ithlinne I am still somewhat sceptical.
Do we know the severity of the ice age because I mean we had a little one engulf europe in the seventeeth century when the thames used to freeze every winter so that a fair could be held on its surface with thousands of people and it hardly stopped mankind. Is this divination of Ithlinne one hundred percent accurate or is it maybe influenced by the Erlking, i'm a great admirer of the greek myths where the hero or villain upon seeking to frustrate the great prophecy would by his actions cause it.
Letho, Geralt and maybe other schools of witchers bearding the hunt in its own reality with the aid of a source would be one hell of an turnabout, just so long as we could control the big guy for a bit.

Well, i for one hope they bring back the Ithlinne's prophecy plotline. It was mentioned many times in TW1 as well as in the books, so i was dissapoinbted when, having finished TW2, i realized there was no mention of it in the sequel, its all about the Wild Hunt now...
Not that theres anything wrong with the Wild Hunt, but i was hoping there was something more to the Grandmaster's visions.
Well, Marietta does mention it... but she was just too high on fisstech! hehe

I imagine piracy must have hurt their sales. Releasing the game with no DRM, while a noble gesture, apparently did not help counter piracy.
You think DRM really helps against piracy? "falls down laughing."
Let me say this about ME2. It was out a whole bloody ****ing week before oficial release. DRM does jack ****.
O hai, I can't play my BSN acc linked games because of the old forum hack and the EA mail server duckup for a week now.
DRM roxxx.

On another matter (and please avoid spoilers for later in the game...) how do you like the "dream-like" sequences or sum-ups they did in that cartoon-anime style? (I know, its not "proper" anime, bear with me).
Its not that I dont like them, but I find them so wrong and strange for this kind of setting and purpose. Frankly I find that they would make more sense in a game like DA2, in which everything is over the top and the general art-style is somewhat cartoonsh and has extreme-porn gore as well.
For me the cartoon cut outs are incapable of properly conveying the romantic-tragic story behind Geralt and Yen, as the writers seem to have intended, really...We should ve got a proper CGI segment for that... Or at least the painted "tableaux" we got in TW1...
Am I soo wrong? Well, be as it may, this is my worthless 2 cents.

That is one of the few things TW1 done better, I would have loved those painting style cutscenes to return instead of these animated ones from a Robert Rodriguez movie.
That cutscene alone with the cured werewolf fighting the Salamandras in New Narakort side by side with Geralt bears more emotional impact than most games out there.
A fairytale indeed.

Am curious to see how the CG/prerendered stuff done for the 360 release will work out.

I meant about the whole end of the world thing, not about how good his plan was or not. ( I personally don't think it was that good ).

I actually liked the art style, it was almost reminiscent of early renaissance woodcuts. The 360 isn't getting CGI for all of those cut scenes is it?
Interesting fun fact: TW2 is a mere $37 on Amazon. Why the sudden price drop? Also, the Xbox version is available for pre-order.

I agree. The painted cut scenes are beautiful. I really like Anime art styles but too out of place for The Witcher.

Maybe I should watch the trailer again to get an idea what they'll do. Don't have an Xbox anyway, so unless we get it on PC too I'm not too interested.

Yeah... TW2's animated cutscenes looked waaaaay too much like something out of 300 and stylistically seem really out of place with how realistic the actual game is trying to look.
I'd have much preferred they keep the more realistic art style like in TW1's cutscenes or even the how they do them in the one pre-release trailer that highlights the world.

One more thing about the cinematics. Platige Image has grown considerably since the times of the Witcher 1 - their work on it was definitely great, but there were things we could all complain about. I recently had a chance to watch some of their new projects on a festival in Gdynia - and it blew me away.
City of Ruins - trailer of a much longer movie showing the destroyed Warsaw. I've had chance to see the full movie in 3D - on a big screen it really makes a huge impression.
Paths of Hate - trailer again, but one that I had a pleasure of watching in the cinema - fantastic.
Not to mention their older works, by Bagiński himself
Fallen Art - Made in 2005 and in my opinion one of his finest works. The meaning of the name "Fallen Art" will become painfully clear after you watch it ; ]
Cathedral - arguably his most famous short, nominated for the Academy Award in 2003.
Look up the website for more - Platige Image. Just click "Projects" and check some of their work - commercials, short movies, trailers and such.
