Yea especially since you don't learn everything in 1 playthrough.

Stalker series? You know I have all 3 and played maybe an hour in each only..

Is that supposed to be a compliment to the series then?:P

Such a shame that The Witcher 2 is so short...

It took me about 45 hours, which is good enough imo.
But yea TW1 is way longer.

I think a first time run is easily 35-40 hrs, if you do everything. It's about ME2 length so I wouldn't call it short. TW1 had more content, but damn all those loading screens and all the running around. The quest structure is vastly improved in TW2.

Heh not trying to insult it. One day...eventually I'll sit down and really start playing them. I just couldn't say no to all 3 for $10 on Steam.

Just thought I'd add this a link with an interview with Laidlaw making a brief comment on TW2:
http://translate.goo...lc-dziedzictwo/

Original link: http://bioworld.ea.p...lc-dziedzictwo/

"Because I'm Polish I ask you about The Witcher
II.
Have you had the chance to play, and if so,
what do you think about it?

I played and
I think it is fantastic. It's a great story, and the engine is simply
brilliant. Bah, I think that The Witcher is great at his genre
of "lone wolf", which exist alongside those in which the other team, that is, we
have to adhere, such as the Dragon Age."

I never thought that Laidlaw was stupid. He clearly can apreciate a good game when he sees it. lol

He's just a lousy game designer... nothing personal.

I hope the comment translates into them learning (not copying) from TW2.

True. Finally someone says why this are different games.

I don't agree with Laidlaw's approach to DA2, but I respect his opinions and he's always been friendly and articulate on the site. I'd be interested to hear some in depth opinion of the his take on TW2. The folks at CDPR are pretty outspoken with their views, but I haven't heard them compliment Bioware once which is surprising.

I have a feeling someone is gonna post that on the DA boards...and then be flamed to hell ofcourse.

I also don't agree with the scapegoating that happens. Not one single person is responsible for a game such as DA2 turning out like it did - it's much too complex a system to develop for that. Not even Casey Hudson can accept all blame if ME3 fails.

If you have to blame someone, I'm inclined to blame whoever decided to cash in on the Dragon Age name rather than put in the resources needed to develop a high quality title.

Yea especially since you don't learn everything in 1 playthrough.

But that's the hardest part.

You already know how the game's going to end, you know what you're going to face, you know the choices you have to make, you know how the game plays out in both long term and short term...

Except for the dice poker sidequests (I just cannot stand dice poker) and a few other sidequests, I've done every sidequest one might find in TW2.

This is the problem with every game I play and thus makes it harder for me to enjoy a replay.

Then again, TW2 is in the row of games that I like to replay just because I think the story's awesome. I think I can manage about 12 playthroughs, just as I did with DAO.

My only gripes with TW2 were:
- mainly Chapter 3 (it was waaaaay too short, everything happened in a blink of an eye and alot of (important) characters were everywhere, nowhere, all over place and then KADENG-BOOM gone and... well, that's it, I think.)
- the length of the game;
- Money: I was collecting it, but it never felt... important enough to carry around. I know, money isn't the base of the game. But the only moments it felt important was during arm wrestling, fist fighting and crafting. But even then I still had around 10000 orens at the end of TW2 (mainly the cause of not having Patch 1.3 and thus not having storage room, so I was forced to either walk as a snail, drop everything on the ground or gain some money).

Since the storage was added in Patch 1.3, I dropped that one.
Other than that, I think the game is a success.

Oh, don't you worry about that.

I'm currently in the town part of the prologue.

I think some had more influence in it than others, but mismanagement doesn't usually fall upon one set of shoulders imo.
I'm a ripple-effects kind of person.

And if you grind for max level 50.. wow... TW1 can feel endless and not that much fun. I made it to level 42 at my longest playthrough and that was about the limit of the fun factor for me. =)

TW2 is shorter but can be made longer with that same spirit and the grinding is a bit more fun too. Only that we can reach max level way before the game's end and feel a bit cheesy but then again, playing it on Insane can shorten that a lot.... hehehe

Act 2 is actually 2A and 2B, depending on your choices, so try drastically changing them from what you chose on your first run. You may be surprised!
