Letting Letho go after he saved Triss - The only thing I wish they've done with this is show us how he did this, Or maybe let us play as Letho and protecting Triss. That would make It feel SO much better.

As epic as that would have been, there is a 1/2 chance that it was Geralt who saved Triss. So it's not that feasible. Unless we get to play Roche / Iorveth should Geralt choose to save Triss.

Being a Radovid fan, seeing Siegfried and then Roche, two of my favorite characters, working for him was awesome.

Damn there are a lot of awesome moments. Foltest being all badass explaining the strengths and weaknesses of ballistae. The war council on Iorveth path, especially when he shows up. Henselt saying that Radovid checkmated him...etc

I think if CDPR did this I think it would've felt as if they were screaming at us that Letho is a good guy and we should spare him. I think it's better that we don't know about his methods

Yeah I think we can all agree that Letho is not a good guy seeking to help everyone...

But he did act like Geralt friend when he decided to save Triss and I think that would just flash it out more.

And there is also 1/2 chance... Well, For almost everything in this game, And we did get the option to play as Auckes in Roche Path.

I agree with most or all of those moments and I would just add two:

- punching Javed in the face at the tower when he was overly confident with his disguise
- the peasants reaction to the noises coming from the windmill in the Outskirts! Best sex scene of the game! hehe

I forgot Seherim standing on the shores of the Pontar, babe in arms as you bid farewell to the little town and sail upriver. Another one of those little moments of light that make the witcher world worth fighting for and it's not sign posted or over dramatised it's just a liitle detail wrapping up a barely mentioned mystery. Quality.

Indeed it is a beautiful scene but I was really mad at Cedric and the Lobinden elves for not investigating Moril's disappearance and rescuing her from that disgusting Loredo!

Yeah one of the few truly dislikeable people in the entire game, I enjoyed killing that git on both Roche and Iorveth paths. Even his mad mum was no excuse for that level of depravity.

Exactly!
Subtelty makes it alll the more powerful.

As for Loredo. He is dislikeable, but what I like is that CdProjekt made him at least competent at it. Loredo is not an idiot fool, or insane lunatic. He's a greedy corrupt bastard, but he's also smart (and that's what makes him all the more dangerous). And he is not over the top (unlike other games I could mention). And that what makes him more dislikeable. Because he's more or less "normal", anyone could be like him.

I also like how extremism is shown in this instance. Loredo, perhaps partially out of prejudice (which is not completely unjustifiable) but mostly out of interest, is increasing hatred towards nonhumans, using them as scapegoats. Imo, it's done in a realistic and subtle fashion and not like "Aarghh! Kill all nonhumanz! The gods tell me this in my sleep!"

I really wish this cinematic was in the game. Honestly I think it would have flowed better for new players if they had not started the game with flashback prologues but just started the game on the day of the Battle.

Yeah even the biggest bastards in the game have reasoning and motives behind their actions not just the ooh big magic mcguffin now I kill you all guff. I think at some point Assassins of Kings is going to be held up as a masterpiece of storytelling and intelligent character development on a par with if not exceeding Torment.

Just realised watching that video again that Vernon Roche is in that Brenna scene, figures where else would he be.

It's not even the fact that it is so well made. It has more vital information crammed into it, than ANY of the cinematics currently in the game. This one video sets the stage for the game completely, and the fact that it is not in the game is astonishing.

Philippa Eilhart is also standing behind Radovid.

Oh, and for awesome moments, the whole Hung Over quest! And this time I'm keeping the tattoo! (going Roche's path too... thought it suits Geralt then.. hehe)

hmm... why don't we have that video on the GoG bonus videos package? grrr =)

Damn Rutger Hauer in blade runner could have made a perfect Geralt, that sense of otherness and the sardonic world weary attitude. Hope hollywood never get their hands on the witcher but a young Rutger would have been perfect.

Philippa keeping her eyes on Radovid, now he keeps her eyes on him at all times. Damn i'm sick.

Huh.. why haven't I ever found Dearg Ruadhri armor before? How convenient I find it early in Act 1 when I'm on the Magic path. =)

Just crafted it now after beating the arachas... best armor I found in act 1 by far! AC 22 vs AC9 of Kayran's or AC10 of Hunter's armor... is there anything better?

@ Rage
How did you find it in Act 1? Wiki says it's in Act 3.

And I've just finished watching Batman: Under the Red hood (great movie btw), and I couldn't help but think of Geralt and Letho when seeing Batman unsuccessfully chasing after Red Hood, the two occasionally teaming up, reminiscing their past and then fighting each other. Of course the former enemies / friends are more badass and subtle (yea I said it. Geralt is more badass than the Batman...).

It may not be as powerful as the Alvin situation (imo), but dammit the Geralt / Letho dynamic is awesome. A mixture of nostalgia, mutual respect, returning favors while competing against each other, and even vodka sharing friendship. Makes killing Letho that much harder. A choice I absolutely reject for my canon.

I agree. Only fought Letho once, for the sake of it. All the other runs I can't bring Geralt to attack him. Makes much more sense to spare him, giving all they went through together.

As for the armor (diagram), sheer luck I guess. I always clear nekker's cave first time before even entering Floatsam. After escaping with Triss' shield and I think it was in the chest there! I once found Draug's Armor Diagram there but it was impossible to craft before fighting the Draug. Arachas' armor as component (for Dearg's) is not! =)

I have a quick question about this game if someone could help me. One of my friends has had an the desire to play a great rpg, I heard The Witcher 2 got great reviews so I was going to suggest it to her. But she hates games that are overly sexual (nudity, graphic sex scenes etc.) I haven't played it, but I heard The Witcher 2  has a tons of both of these things. Is that true? Should I still recommend it for her, or should I not even bother?

Yes, it's true I am afraid.

Personally, I think it would be a shame to miss out on it because of that though, it is a great RPG.
But if she absolutely cannot abide by nudity, then it's not the kind of game for her (some scenes with nudity are unavoidable. Indeed the game starts with one).

^ Well maybe I could get her to deal with nudity (she's 22 and has the innocence of a kid, drives me crazy), but are there sex scenes of any kind? If there are, and I recommend it to her anyway she would probably kill me. Help me...please?

There are sex scenes, but as far as I remember, only if you choose to have sex.

The dialogue in the game also indicate such in those moments where it may happen, thus allowing you to choose otherwise if need be. Skippable just in case though.

This game is dark btw. Just mentioning 'cos "innocence of a kid" makes me wonder if she ought to play it hehe.
Still, this is an incredible game and it'd be a shame for her to miss it due to her aversion to the (small amount imo) sexual content.

@KoP: Nice blog btw. Very well done! How long did it take you anyway?
I like how it's presented in particular. I wasn't thinking about it much while playing the game but that blog really made the world of Witcher feel more expansive.
Ty for doing it btw. Quite the fun read. ^_^
