Next they will do nothing until Xbox is released and then, MAYBE, we will get an expansion.

Version 2.0 looks great, I will install v2.0 and re-play the Witcher 2 around Christmas. Looking forward to it.

They mentioned the forum posts for responsiveness and targeting in the conference so this makes me happy.

Mine? Lol. I've been pissing everyone off over at CDPR site for harping on that, but thank god they mentioned it.

Lol, well, looks like I have a live one here.

Edit: just finished watching the upload on youtube for Arena mode, and I confess it looks bloody difficult. If the devs themselves are clinging religiously to Quen I wonder if everyone else will have to as well. I try to avoid Quen as I think it's overpowered.

You haven't played Insane have you Slimgrim?

Those guys where playing on the Dark mode, which is basically insane in terms of damage recieved and ANYONE who ever finished the game on Insane will tell you without Quen you're ****ed.

In patch 1.3 they debuffed Quen so it dissipates 20% faster as well, I have only played it on hard so far, I might be tempted to do so on insane when 2.0 comes out. I think they have done a pretty good job in trying to balance things out so far.

I'm playing on hard as well. I rely on Aard, Yrden, and bombs for the most part. I trust Costin's judgment since he's spent more time with the game than me, but I'd like to believe that one sign can be specialized in and essentially carry you through the game. I don't want to have to upgrade Qeun, I'd rather beef up vigor as much as possible via upgrades and armor, and then approach combat with a block and counter style. I've defeated Queen Endraga this way numerous times: by holding my ground, timing swipes so that vigor can regenerate in time for a block. This of course requires me to use the right alchemy combo.

Is anyone familiar with any sort of mod that removes the invisible barriers at riverbanks (or reduces them)?

Just a quick recap over here: http://www.vg247.com...os-start-today/

Version 2.0 enhancements and features

-snip-

Sounds amazing!

Just to confirm, we will all get the 2.0 features for free, right? This is not a DLC we have to buy?

I'm a firm believer that the quality of a game can be measured by the detail the developers put into their boats.

It looks like it took whoever created it in 3ds max all of 30 minutes to create/texture.

Nevermind the boats, look at those cliffs. There's hardly any lighting in the entire scene, it's all flat. I remember when I used to think the art design of DA:O was a bit bland, then DA2 came out and it was like...you've got to be kidding.

Graphics aren't everything. My favorite games right now look seriously dated next to The Witcher 2.

No, but they're certainly telling of just how much care and effort went into each game.

Along with the art-style they're big factors in the immersion.

I lump art style in with graphics, but you're right.

Gregski, from the TW2 forums, has posted this about patch 2.0:

Got some other info from different interview:

Arena Mode:

Currently CDPR's internal record is held by Flash - the guy who modded TW1's combat(at least that's what I presume from the name they mentioned). It is around wave 87 and about 2600000 points.

Following tweaks and changes have been mentioned:

- you will be able to block even without vigor points, but blocking will still take 1 vigor point if you have them
- on the downside - blocking will no longer reduce 100% damage
- combat responsiveness is being tweaked
- if Geralt is hit while attacking his attack animation won't be stopped unless it was special attack

These are highly significant tweaks to the combat system and I wonder if they are exclusive to the arena mode.

Except, they're really not the same thing. A game with a good art style can look aesthetically pleasing if the graphics aren't up to date. While a game with a bad art style, won't look aesthetically pleasing no matter how good the graphics are.

And of course, good vs bad art style is highly subjective.
