To summarize, we’re happy with our success. The original Witcher retains
a Metacritic average of around 81, The Witcher 2 has a score of 87. Of
course, it would be nice to have even higher scores, but it’s also good
to have room for improvement. And constantly raising the bar is one of
our goals.

I blame the people who gave 0's for no reason for that <_<
But still great score for them considering all the butt hurt fanboys.

^ I think he was refering to the critics rather than the user score. But, then again I don't put a great deal of stock in what most critics say, the vast majority of it is tripe and saccharin, with the exception of a few. Some of the criticisms aimed at TW2 were downright daft.

Rock Paper Shotgun interview

What is CDP’s feeling towards DLC generally? Is it a positive trend within games? What do you see as the problems with it?

Badowski: We don’t see the idea as wrong, but we definitely don’t like
to see gamers treated like dairy cows that are primed for milking. All
too often, DLC is seen as an additional revenue opportunity. That’s not
bad in itself – we’re not only in this industry to make games, we’re
also here to do business.

Anyway, our approach is different and relatively simple. All DLC for the
PC version is and will remain FREE. That’s not likely to be the story
for the Xbox version, because of certain Microsoft policies that need to
be followed. But on PC, once you buy our game, you don’t need to worry
about any additional costs – we will provide all updates, including
those featuring new content, for free.

RPS: What was the mood in the studio like once The Witcher 2 had shipped? Was it relief at having shipped , or a feeling that there was more work to do? A mix of both?

Some “game industry experts” even suggested that we should produce fewer
patches, or at least refrain from mentioning all the corrections and
changes in the readme files, as this creates the impression that the
game was unfinished. That’s just the wrong way of thinking to me, and it
goes against our company values. Hiding facts? Taking a manipulative
stance towards our customers? Come on – that’s pure bull****!

Never have i wanted to give a company money more than CDPR. Dont change lads dont change.

Let's hope the grim realities of life don't force them to. ;)

Judging by this awesome interview they posted
http://www.rockpaper...-witcher-2-2-0/

they seriously have the right idea for a game studio.

All too often, DLC is seen as an additional revenue opportunity. That’s
not bad in itself – we’re not only in this industry to make games, we’re
also here to do business. But we shouldn’t look at it exclusively from
the latter angle, because that sometimes leads to decisions that could
leave a bad taste in one’s mouth. If you only think about the business
in terms of the money it can generate, I think you could come awfully
close to forcing players to buy something additional in order to enjoy
fully a game they just bought. And that’s simply not fair.

Btw does anyone know what time it'll be out tomorrow?

EDIT: Nvm.
"Flash: It's half past midnight in Poland. Just a little tip - I wouldn't wait for the patch in the first half of the day."

Guess that's as decent approximation as we'll get for the time being.

ok, as soon as the Last Update for TW2 comes out, i will start a petition Demand, directed at the reviewers, so that they can Re-Review (?) this game, and it can finally be in the 90s level on Metacritic and Gamerankings, where friggin should and deserves to,i can't stand seeing with a 87, i just can't stand it, it needs to change.

Anyone who wants to take part of it, is welcomed.

Come on, for CD Projekt.

I think they would have gotten a higher metacritic score if they had included the tutorial in the release version.

I played through Witcher 1 twice, really enjoyed it, but it was not exactly easy to figure out all the mechanics for Witcher 2 and IIRC, some of the journalists who had to write up reviews in May mentioned they gave it a lower score simply because they it took them too much time to figure the game out properly, especially if they were given a Steam code and didn't have a manual to refer to.

At least CDProjekt is actually you know fixing that. Instead of just leaving it alone and not only that. They made a new quest for it in Kaedwin and voice actors and such instead of half assing it.

The game should be sufficiently dumbed down with the 2.0 patch so that it's ready to be played on console and probably will get the reviews it deserves.

Then again, the game won't look as good on console, plus there's the chance that reviewers will be spoilt by Dark Souls by then and expect much more gameplay-wise of such an overhyped PC title. It could go either way, really.

how do you activate the update via the Launcher?

It's not updating for me and my Steam properties for this game are set to "automatically update."

I tried starting the game and exiting a few times as well as restarting Steam, but the patch is not downloading.

Dark Mode just kicked my butt in the Arena.  Died in 3 hits on the very first fight.  (My combat skills are severely rusty right now so I do have a good excuse).

I did. Quite simple, they show you the inventory, journal,..., the basics of combat (style, signs and quick items), and then a fight to recommend you a difficulty setting. Was doing fine until that kind of golem entered the arena. Then I went down in less than 5 seconds.
