I think Origins was a great beginning, but the direction I was hoping the franchise would follow (more in the way of "A Song of Ice and Fire") is getting farther and farther each step of the way...

Bioware is conscientiously making the choice of a more "lite" fantasy setting, with soap-operish elements, full of people cracking jokes all the time instead of developing character... It's sad...

This. Can we please tone down the random humour... just a bit? And the self-referential parts from Dragon Age 2's DLC make me feel like I'm playing something called 'Parody Quest'.

One thing I noticed about Witcher 2's engine after playing Skyrim. The Red Engine can have a surprising amount of characters on screen at one time. I mean look at the Eternal Battle.

In Skyrim you attack Whiterun with like 5 freaking dudes, and the game only spawns more when the last group of guys died.

Wow 2 expacs and more triple AAA titles! I hope they take all the time in the world.

This is one of the more impressive things about Red Engine. Even on my average PC, the number of characters on screen at once never affected performance. Not a hint of slow down with Nekkars scrambling or Harpies all over the place.

Yes two expansions for Witcher 2 in 2012, no news about content maybe new cinematics, maybe quests. ;)

Polish source: polygamia.pl

Are you sure it's expansions because it wasn't clear.

Origins fell flat long before release. Its success was built upon five years worth of player expectations and desperation for RPGs. All players got were dragon bosses, doom swords, soap-opera, and juvenile dialogue from juvenile NPCs.

Concepts of dark fantasy and mature gaming hit a brick wall with Bioware. DA is being reduced to a franchise that appeals to the starstruck segment of the gaming community.

CDprojeck on the other hand knows its audience, and isn't afraid of making games for that audience.

CD Projekt beat BioWare at their own game with the first Witcher game two years before Dragon Age even appeared.

Let's compare when Witcher 2 is out on console as well.

I'm not really sure how consoles will be even able to handle the opening battle scenes of TW2.

I agree with this but I think your assesment of DA:O is a bit harsh. I enjoyed the characters, VO's, and combat of DA:O a lot.

I guess we should considering the PC port of Skyrim is terrible.

Haha that was exactly what I thought when I played Witcher 1. It struck me as the game Bio was trying to make with DA:O. (And I really like DA:O.)

A thread at Red site asking who is everyone's favorite romance. Only Blothulfur gets it right:

"Always by my side, we shared long romantic walks through torch lit dungeons, I rubbed oil into her fire lit body, slept every night by her side and fed her the choicest cuts of meat fresh from the bone.

My red meteorite steel sword, ever beloved."

Well, i just finished TW2. It was a nice surprise! I didnt had many expectatives as I thought TW1 was very overrated and not a good game! TW2 was enjoyable, and i really liked the story! However, I didnt like the fact that your choices from TW1 almost dont matter (i didnt romanced Triss and when the game started i was sleeping with her!!) and that feeling that Geralt is not my character, something that didnt happen when i played both DA:O and DA2. So, in conclusion, I liked it, had a nice time, but I prefer DA saga or ME...

I'm afraid I didn't notice this at all - but i think that had more to do with the fact that it simply fitted into the game without needing a big neon sign pointing to them going OMGZ LOOK AT ALL THESE PEOPLE!!!111!!

That is such bull****. Honestly, juvenile NPC's? I can't take you seriously.

But i do fully agree with the last sentence. CDPR know their audience, and are not making compromises so those who don't like RPG's will suddenly start playing them.

Hmm Morrigan and Jack seem pretty juvenile to me with the whole badass thing going on then there is Merril and Isabella who are just awful and Fenris is probably the worst.

DAO....DAO. Not all BW games. Morrigan is far more in depth than just "I'm so badass".

To be honest, she is far more in-depth and less one dimensional than Roche. There i said it, let the hating begin.

DA2 companions are a completely different story.
