If you had to pick between the two (The Witcher 2 and MAss Effect 3) which would you choose to play if you only had the time to really immerse yourself in one for the time being?

EA Origin made that choice for me when it locked me out of my ME2 game for some authentication BS.  After that I dropped plans to get ME3 at all and went back to TW2, after having gotten stuck in Flotsam and abandoning it for a while.  I'm now working my way through Iorveth's path, about halfway through Chapter 2 I'd guess.

I like the story better than TW1, but gameplay wise I think they took steps backward.  The main problems I see are clunkiness in the alchemy and crafting setup, and a weird leveling system.  The problems of difficulty balance could be evened out if they didn't force you to level in dumb stuff during Chapter 1 and then suddenly you get access to really useful things in Chapter 2 and you're overpowered.

The other things I don't like is that it feels less open than TW1, and the creatures aren't as interesting or creepy.  TW1 had invisible walls, too, but TW2 feels like you're running in narrow corridors and there's not as much exploration value.  It underscores something I very much dislike about TW which is that there is no fast travel.  Exploration is only fun when it's meaningful- backtracking the same long trail I just ran in order to get my quest reward feels pointless.

However, the dialogue and story is all superb.  Choosing between Iorveth and Roche was hard because I like both of them and there were good reasons to go with either one.  I've been playing Geralt as romantic with Triss, however, so it was more a decision to follow Triss than to follow Iorveth.

lol The Witcher 2. I'd rather play it for the fourth time than play ME3.

The Witcher 2 is great, I loved it, even with somes flaws. Thought I can't judge ME3 before finishing it. But I know I will be expecting too much and it kept many of the flaws I saw in ME 2. I still believe ME 1 is the best game of the three because of its superior script, the inventory system, the freedom of going where you want. ME 2 isn't a bad game, but it feel much like a shooter in a huge walkway. Almost no exploration, there was not inventory. The quality of the script was subpar to ME1 or DA2. They improves the shooting and the cinematic, but I need more.

In terms of gameplay, The Witcher 2 is hard to beat, it's the best I have ever played. You really feel Geralt's evolution while you are playing. You don't feel that much in Skyrim or ME 2. The story was nice too, thought some parts had too much useless swearing. Some parts were degrading to women, but the overal result, is that it's easily my favorite RPG from last year. Skyrim is good, thought I prefer story driven RPGs. Demon Soul isn't that great, the controls are clunky and it's tough for nothing.

Now, I want Leliana in The Witcher 3 ;) She could fit the Witcher's universe :)

Great trailer, and HOLY **** at 0:12

i can tell they're improving Graphics(example if you watch This trailer, the same scene is at 0:21, but the ground is completely one dimensional, in the EE, not anymore. Attention to details, that's CDPR for ya)

Witcher 2. Mass Effect seems to get worse in worse in terms of writing with each game.

Okay, so everyone seems to be in favor of Geralt to Shepard, and can't say that I disagree from the little that I've seen. I 'll hold off it for now and Pr-order TW2. Once I'm done with that ME3 should've had a decent price drop.

I think the drop of writing quality came from Drew Karphyshyn withdrawal from Mass Effect Universe.  I read the 3 first novels and those where great.  The newest is not good.  ME 2 tried to feel too much badass and failed for that.  Dumbing the RPG features to please 3rd person shooter fans was a bad decision.

Now, I think they try to add too much emotion and they will probably fail.  Those Shepards and kid scenes, LOL.   I've seen much better.

The Witcher 2's upgrade will be free on PC, so it's an other plus for CDPROJECT,  EA will make us pay for any DLC that will probably be too short and not worthy of the price.  They made only one good DLC for Mass Effect, and still it was too short (Lair Of the Shadow Broker"

I've got to agree, the over usage of children to tug at the heart strings will fail miserably. The time they spent animating children could've been better spent animating female salarians or turians. I've got no problems with the story of ME2, I look forward to character driven narratives, and they released a better batch of members in the second as to the first. The story with ME3 and the treatment of characters seems like they stopped caring for the narrative and play style they built over the past two games.

I do have to give CDPR credit, what they put into the 360 and pc versions of TW2 EE seems like they care a lot about keeping their audience around for their future games.

I won't lie. If the xbox version looks and runs better than my version on PC after the EE update, I'll be pissed. I have to lower the game to Pong levels in Arena mode to avoid lag.

@ Android. Obviously you should get ME3 if you like the demo, and then try TW2 later on. CO-OP in ME3 is fun. I have my doubts about the story, but to hell with it. I'm too invested in the Mass Effect franchise not to give it an honest chance.

TW2 is not a mainstream experience. It's like renting a foriegn film. Some people are up to that and some aren't. I also agree partly about the odd difficulty curve. Unless you play on hard, it gets too easy later on ( not that cutting through enemies like a scythe through wheat ever gets boring...) And when you play on hard, it's really hard. Gameplay requires attention to crafting, gear, stats - the whole nine yards. Fortunately, the devs are promising even more combat tweaks for the EE, which is a good thing.

On easy or medium I'd say around 30 hrs. If you take your time, read everything, maybe more. The kicker is you are missing an entire third of the game with only one run. You need to play it again to see that content. I think it was great move by CDPR. I love a long game, but a shorter game is easier to replay, especially one that changes so much.

Oh 30 is plenty long for me. The longest I think I've ever done was with Fallout 3 and that was about sixty, and I know I'm still missing a bunch of things there. So I'd have to go through multiple playthroughs to get brand new content or are they just slight variables to content we would've experienced in another way of playing?

edit: To those of you who've been reading the news on this, has there been any talk of censorship of the content for the Xbox 360 version? It would be a shame if they tamper with the content of the original game.

I haven't heard anything.  Australia might receive a slightly censored version though.  Their ratings board required some changes before they approved it last year.

Two runs for major new content, several runs for minor stuff. They say 16 endings, but really, only little stuff changes after a few endings. Still, they weren't blowing hot air when they said the game is non linear. Even side quests can have mutliple outcomes.

I'll feel bad for Aussie xbox players if they get a censored version.

Well cutting a little the swearing can't be bad.  The game would still be great if they cut nudity and swearing.  And giving more respect to women can't be bad either :)

Oh please they weren't being misogynistic they were were making the world feel real and authentic. I think we all know how women were treated in the middle ages and what era in history does this series remind you of besides some of the most powerful people in the games are women.

Personally I prefer language to be as authentic to the setting and characters. Simply becausea story takes place in the eleventh century, it doesn't mean everyone spoke with literary prose of the respective time period. To suggest that is to deny vernacular out right. I've yet to play the game, so I can't say how they treated women in the story. If it's just about the sex, then I can't really see how sex can be considered mysoginistic.

I thought the lesbian whipping scene was a bit much, but I'm not offended by bawdiness.  The women in the world are bawdy, too.  :)  Sensitive souls should just stay away.  This is the Witcher world, CDPR doesn't wear PC kid gloves (gag) and it's better that way.

The one thing that really bugged me was Saskia's armor.  I think they should dress a woman soldier as a soldier and leave the heroic cleavage for the sorceresses and ladies of ill repute.  White Rayla didn't have the Plate of Plunging Neckline look.

Finished the game tonight, BTW.  Loved it.  I wrote up a short review here.  I know I missed tons of stuff.  Even missed a whole quest line on Iorveth's path (investigating elven deaths) because I didn't realize following the main quest would cut it off.  I plan to replay on Roche's path, probably starting in Flotsam since that's where I got bogged down.

What choices did you make in Act 3? As well as in regards to the Letho choice?
