I let Saskia live and Letho walk. I couldn't kill him. Whatever Geralt might say about being neutral, he's been so involved in politics that he can't judge another Witcher for the same, even if it made Letho his nemesis for a time.

Oh and I saved Triss.  I've played Geralt as romantic with her, and even practically speaking it was better for him to have a sorceress as his ally and deal with Saskia's curse later than trust Philippa.  I figure she double crosses him, right?

Pretty much but you do fix the curse. Kinda surprised you let Letho walk though, me and Knight suspected you would kill him.

Finished the game tonight, BTW.  Loved it.

Ahh nothing is better than the first time. You should definitely give it another go before Mass Effect 3 is out if your getting it. Really lets you get a different view on things.

I love how a player-controlled Geralt can totally kick Letho's ass at the end of Chapter 1, yet when the player is about to deliver what is supposed to be the kill blow, a cutscene starts and suddenly Geralt gets sucker punched and loses the fight.

It's a bit childish, but I killed Letho in the end just for that... he went down in two hits. I hate losing control of my character for "story reasons". Deus Ex: Human Revolution had the same bs going on.

Just an FYI for those of you buying it for the 360. I just preordered mine for 45 from Toys R Us. Don't know how long they'll have it for that price but it beats Anazon's 60.

Both witcher games do this, and I've always had mixed feelings about it. I think they could have set up the reason you lose the first time a little better.

If you're referring to the fight against Javed and Professor in Witcher 1, it wasn't that bad in my opinion, as Geralt was fighting two powerful opponents at once and one of them was an accomplished sorcerer and alchemist.

What didn't make sense was them not just finishing off Geralt afterwards. Then again, this also happens in the books against Vilgefortz.

I like to think they sensed Triss near and decided not to risk fighting her just after Geralt kicked their asses. It´s implied early in the next chapter anyway. However Vilgefortz wanted to humilate Geralt rather than kill him, I guess he thinks victory is better when the opponent lives knowing he´s lost.

At least when the computer takes control is so the villain can escape and not win. It´s the same in ME1 during the first fight with Saren. I take him easily and then h has Shepard by the neck. But Shep reacts accordingly... Worse I´ve played was KOTOR 1, thanks for helping Malak escape and getting captured along the way Bastilla, good job there.

Heh, Jade Empire is worse than KOTOR, you get railroaded into a predictable twist and are forced to watch how your clueless character gets sucker punched in the lamest way possible.

It's practically included in every BioWare game, but in BioWare games it's worse because it is usually combined with plot-induced stupidity.

Nah, I liked him too much.  Like I said in my blog post, I choked up a little at that final conversation.  Almost wish they let you talk to him earlier on so you got more of a gradual reveal of his motives.

I was pretty sure helping Philippa would doom Triss.  At first I was going to help Philippa hoping that you could do both, but I figured CDPR wouldn't let you cheese like that so I re-loaded after meeting Iorveth in the tunnel.  It was a tough call because leaving Saskia cursed undoes everything you worked for in act 2, but I picked up Philippa's dagger at one point in the Nilfgaardian camp so I'm hopeful something can be done for her.

What's wrong with Letho beating Geralt in Act 1? If you recall, Geralt disarmed Letho, but out of nowhere he pulled out a massive aard. So it's not like Geralt got his ass whooped like a kid. It was a pretty close victory on Letho's part. And I absolutely loved that Geralt lost.

This wants me to tear up at how awesome Letho is :')

SPOILERS:

If you go for Philippa, Letho saves Triss from the Nilfgaardians. Yea, he's awesome like that.
EDIT: though it kind of cheapen the choice a little. That said, the negative consequence would be a mage massacre (which you can see in the Enhanced Edition).

Calls for this

I've limited my exposure to the  game. Since its been out on pc forever, so what information I would go looking for  would be huge spoiler territory. Also I'm not into collecting things like that, so art books and scores wouldn't be of much value to me. The enhanced edition with the dlc and patches is enough for me. Unless there's missing game content that would add up to more than the difference in price for the Enhanced Edition, there's not much reason to get it.

It's no longer appropriate, it already became a legend.

Letho's VA sounded a bit odd in the trailers and bit of gameplay I saw. Although it's a nice change to see a piece of medieval fiction where everyone doesn't speak with an English accent or Americans trying desperately to sound "Shakespearean"

I thought  it was a bit weird myself at first, but I've grown accustomed to it and like it a lot.
His erratic pronunciation reminds me of snakes, which is quite fitting for The Viper.

EDIT: oh btw, if you need help with understanding the story once you're done, feel free to check out my blogs:

Letho's VA was awesome. He's the same one as Emeric in DA2, but sounds rougher and more working class. I had to lol at Radovid's VA being Carver, though. All in all the voice work was great. Triss bothered me at times.

Letho also got some great lines, like when he says people underestimate him because he's a big guy. "I can't help how I look." It's the kind of line you'd expect from a pretty female.

Best lines as usual go to the dwarves. "Lesbomancy" and the random dwarf in the tavern who says "give us a kiss." lolol

One part of me thinks Triss should've died instead of the cop-out with Letho saving her, but another part is looking forward to the upcoming drama with Yennefer. Even more so, since I had chosen Shani in Witcher 1.

Considering my opinion of Carver, at first I was kind of pissed off (seeing how Radovid is my favorite monarch) and at one point I preferred how he sounded in TW1.

But now I prefer how he sounds in TW2 by far and the VA did a very good job. He sounds a lot more mature and adult than TW1 Radovid that sounds like a weasel (albeit an entertaining and smart one).

I hope Shani returns.  I can't stand Triss.
