The RPG that becomes a legend is The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
There is no debate in this. There is recognition of this, and there is ignorance of what The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is.
depends on how consolized it is.

"Geralt's world retains the unique European feel it had in the first game, which lends it more credibility and verisimilitude than the setting of some American-made games (i.e. Dragon Age II). The world of TW2 is a dark and gritty one, but not mature for the sake of being mature. People do swear in the real world, they do have sex, and they do die on a daily basis – even more so in a less modern world. TW2 is simply reporting, not exaggerating."
^You see folks, that is how mature content in a game is done. Bioware games tend to present mature material like a tittering little school girl. CD red just lays it bare.

Another very positive preview. I just skimmed through it, trying to avoid spoilers:

Cursing in DA2 always felt weird. Like the VA decided not to say it and just went a long with it.
As for Skyrim being GotY. Well I agree it will be Goty on Spike's VGA's because our American VGA's are trash. Skyrim will ofcourse move a lot more units I know I'm getting it. But it's two different kind of games. I play Elder Scrolls for the sandbox style gameplay and mods. The story and level up experience is never good and always needs the community to fix it.
Witcher 2 imo would be at least rpg of the year on Bafta awards. Bafta awards at least are classy and didn't give Goty to Call of Duty...like it's a good game harhar.
Witcher 2 and Mass Effect 3 are two games I am excited for. Skyrim and Deus Ex are other rpgs I am watching but not obsessively.

As far as story, The Witcher 2 no doubt is more cinematic and focused on story detail. Skyrim's story will be much, much better than other TES games, though.

Skyrim may have a better story then the other Elder Scrolls but there is no way it's plot will better then even DA 2 let a lone the Witcher 2. Witcher isn't about good and evil it's more about the world. The politics and conflict is something Dragon Age 2 tried and failed. Witcher 1 did a good job of it.
Elder scrolls might improve the story but anyone who plays Elder Scrolls doesn't care for it's story. I play it because it's a big open world where I can do anything I want and mod the hell out of.

I know a lot a out Skyrim. Pick an area and ask about it and I will tell you about it. I'll start with enemy levelling. Only enemies in the first area of the game are locked in...the others have a set difficulty and if you're level 6 and run into a level 32, you will most likely die, of course. Very quickly. Anybody see third person? Anybody see combat? Did you know the spell effects will look like it does when the ground is burning and your character gets up? Did you see the water? Did you know there are 85 different spell effects? Did you know loot was rotatable in 3d and there are clues about treasure hidden on some? Did you see lighting effects? Did you hear about the over 80 voice actors for NPC's? Did you see the level of detail in the environments?
I'm looking forward to Skyrim as well, but I don't understand why you find it necessary to post this stuff in the Witcher thread.
Why not post in the Skyrim thread?
It gives the impression that you want to argue with people about which game is better, even though neither has even been released yet. Also "VS" threads are not permitted on this forum.

As for environment, it is inaccurate. Environment details, even on consoles, defeat The Witcher 2 on pc. It's not a matter of pc superiority...which is right...its the fact of development time and care given with a state of the art version of the Unreal 3 engine Bethesda calls Creation.
As far as story, The Witcher 2 no doubt is more cinematic and focused on story detail. Skyrim's story will be much, much better than other TES games, though.
Skyrim does not and will not have better graphics, I'm sorry but it can't. It definitely doesn't have better art direction. We've all seen Frazzetta a thousand times, whereas the visual style in TW2 is something new, as far from cliche as you can get in a fantasy game. Also, graphical limitations are inherent in open-world games and Skyrim has other limitations being a multiplatform game, right out of the gate.
You're wrong saying that the 360 pics of Skyrim are better than TW2. The resolution and graphical fidelity simply aren't there; they cant be, the hardware on consoles won't support it.
Do I think Skyrim will likely be great? Of course, but in different ways, and I still fear it will devolve into console bait. Will it get game of the year? That's a popularity contest based more on how well established a developer is and how willing it is to peddle in pop culture ideals. So I'd rather TW2 didn't get GOTY.
