Dune is awfully underused in video games (just compare with Star Trek and Star Wars). There are only 5 games in total, 4 of them strategy, 1 action-adventure.

I've been pining for a Dune RPG for years.

And like Ringo said, CDPR would do the adult material well and give the political intrigue its due, if the writing is anything like Witcher.  I bet they could improve on Herbert.

But maybe they want to do an original IP this time rather than adaptation.

Dune deserves another goddamn strategy game, a good one "mumbles about failed Dune II sequels"

Still I'd very much welcome a Dune RPG by CDPR.

Like virumor said, I would LOVE a scifi rpg if it were based off Dune. CDProjekt could definitely do the series justice. Still I'd also really would like to see a steampunk or a modern setting not necessarily related to evil corporations and terrorism.

It would be quite hard to go into the modern setting and avoid those. But I'd like it if they delve into intelligence agencies much more. Not a lone agent for a change.

Well actually what I meant is for something a little like Vampire the Masquerade. There really really needs to be a new WoD game and not just the MMO.

But yea I know it would be difficult. I too would like to see an Agency type game with your character working as a team and not a lone wolf. Alpha Protocol and Deus Ex 1 would be great games to get some inspiration from.

I know CDPR is interested in creating their own IP. I really would like to see what CDProjekt can come up with especially since they would have all the freedom to do what they want.

Well they said had titles coming out expected 2014 and 2015. Maybe they can make my Victorian London style RPG and your Dune style RPG. Then we will all be happy? >:D

In reality though one of those will probably be the next Witcher the other a new IP as Andrzej Sapkowski is writing another Witcher book. Well we know one is going to be new as they said so and other is bound to be another Witcher.

WOD + CDPROJECT would make me die that very instant of it's announcement, i've been a fan of both for a long time. I even have the "Prince of the city" lying around in my room, but i gotta say the IP for Vampires the Masquerade has THE BEST werewolves of all time, of ALL time!

I like Geralt's hoods.

Any rumors on what the new IP will be about?

I was surprised that TW2 did not have mod support. The Nexus is kind of bare for a game that started out PC exclusive (though it's obviously a consolized game). I smell a deal with a demon.  CDPR should down a shot of Mongoose, fast.  That venomous mucus will suck you in faster than you click the RMB.

I think the UI and some control schemes were indeed comprimised due to multiplatform support. As for a toolkit, this is a sorespot with me. IMO, the chances of getting one from RED's are slim to none, for the following reasons:

-we never actually got one for TW1, not a complete one. The Djinni editor is a gimped set of tools according to people who have crafted mods with it.

-the 'we're a PC developer' kinda fell on deaf ears shortly after release of TW2. It was clear the game is multiplatform and quite frankly the mods for fixing game bugs came a hell of a lot faster than patches from the devs. Panel Tweaks still offers the best UI, and that's a mod which came out within weeks of the game's release.

-they straight up said the console version gets a new UI, designed even more for game pads, and the PC version is stuck with the one we have. I'm sorry but that kinda speaks for itself.

-CDPR has never really embraced the modding community. I don't know why, but they haven't.

Not trying to sound pissy here, but every company has its faults and this is an area where CDPR came up short.

Vampires are so overdone. Seriously, is there anyone who's not sick of them yet?

@slimgrin- Yes I mean the UI primarily. Maybe also the tighter corridors. TW1 was a bit more open.

edit- Wow, I just saw on the Witcher board that Letho's VA played Shagga in Game of Thrones season 1.  Didn't realize that.  I like him even more now.

The last time they got vampires even remotely right was around 2002. Since then they've been the fantasies of love sick fourteen year olds. If Masquerades were done like an old Rice novel and done on a Bethesda like sandbox, it would easily be one of the best game concepts of all time.

Let the right one in - best vampire film ever. And I wish we had Fleders in TW2, I loved those creepy bastards.

I wouldn't go that far, but it certainly is one of the best movies I've seen in the past 5 years. Haven't seen the remake but something tells me they held back a lot. I can see American audiences being uncomfortable with a little girl ripping into a drunk man's neck among other things.

Yea, agreed. Even a modern day RPG would be welcome by me. A better Alpha Protocol of sorts (good luck with them making the protagonist better than Thorton, love that guy).

My idea for an assassin RPG:

Two main protagonists, one male, one female, and two main paths through the game. We can play different assassin classes, each with a different origin - assassin for hire, govt. assassin, corporate assassin. It could be hub based level design like Deus Ex, or one large sandbox to carry out missions. Of course I think this premise would be a goldmine for the writers at CDPR.

When I die, I want to come back as a Fleder. Interview time.

"What the people who know the books tell us is that we stay close to the original. And on the other side the modern RPG market lacked a title like this. They were rated M for Mature, but really they had nothing as harsh as the real world can be. The Witcher isn’t artificial in its violence, language and sex themes. It’s realistic – the corrupt men we see in the Witcher’s world are no different from people spoiled by power around us. A mature player will know this. This is why you get immersed so easily in the game world; you know that this fantasy setting is full of real world emotions and characters. The dilemmas bring consequences, which are similar to the ones in the world around you – no matter what you do you have to face them."

"Sometimes it worries me where RPGs are going nowadays. As I said we are inspired by classics. For us the two main features of an RPG are freedom and story. They have to coexist in a good game of this genre. The polarization of these two in modern RPGs is not where we are going. We know that a 100 per cent sandbox game will make the story suffer. And a completely narrative driven game will limit the choice. The industry often doesn’t put effort to combine the two. It’s a hard job and requires a lot of time and work, but I think we've accomplished it.The Witcher’s world isn’t the most open, but we give complete freedom when It comes to the story. As our slogan for the Enhanced Edition says – a true hero forges his own story. That’s what Geralt does. Maybe you can’t wander the world as you wish, but surely you can straw around different gameworld states – you wander around storylines, they are completely up to you.Modern RPGs don’t go this way, because it requires a lot of effort to create a chapter of a game that a player may not see because of his choice, but that’s what we did. Even if RPGs introduce more action they can’t lose those two elements – story and freedom. And our games will always have these traits."

^^^This is what makes CDPR special.

Have you ever played Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines? Fantastic game. I never tried Redemption but Bloodlines is great. Like Witcher 2, it may put people off if you take it only at face value you but if you try it you'll find such a great world with the Vampire politics and present day setting. Troika did the best they could at a time that wasn't so great for them.

Since you have Skyrim you must have a steam (you do have it on PC right?) I highly HIGHLY recommend you give it a try. There is a reason people love it so. It's based off a fictional universe for PnP called World of Darkness maybe you have heard of it?. It's not some Twilight crap it's a great dark mature setting that really everyone should give a try. Gameplay wise it's very similar to the original Deus Ex just add Vampires and the need to feed into the mix.

It's one of the best games ever made and I hate playing on pc. Plus it has a lot of memorable VA's in it and one or two things that are delightfully f**ked up that you can be responsible for. The only downside is that the world is a bit small.

Begone heathen :crying:

John DiMaggio at his finest well after Bender ofcourse.

Currently there is an MMO in the works being developed by CCP so I'm soooooo going to try it out but I really think CDProjekt could do a great job at making a universe as awesome as WoD.

I know, I am but a humble pedestrian on the highway of gaming.

On DiMaggio, I still think he was a pirate before he was turned. Even as awesome as he was, I was still Cammy scum. I couldn't resist being an aristocratic vampire in the modern era. I've got to replay it soon. It can fill the gap between now and the 17th.

Bloodlines has the best characters, dialogue and voice-over in any RPG ever, it even blows away Witcher 2.

So much fun to play with a Malkavian and Nosferatu after playing one of the boring clans, like Toreador or Ventrue. Though Toreador were actually pretty interesting with all their Seduce dialogue.

Heh always enjoyed Malkavians whom dialog lines point towards end game. (mostly)
And projecting our insanity to puny mortlas in dialogs was priceless.

Conversation with "STOP" and TV.Heh fun times indeed.

edit: And them whispers :)

Edit part2

When first time meeting Gary.

"Well I've got a Nines, a jack, and a prince and your about to deal me a queen."

"Your the new voice in my head? what happened to the old voice? I was just getting used to that one. Hello new voice."

"My mom told me never to talk to figments of my imagination."

Well after reading those i really wish, CDPR makes a game in White Wolf setting.

I've heard of World of Darkness, used to do MUSH rpg and people would talk about it.  Generally I don't like vampire stuff so it just never interested me.  But I'll keep it in mind.  We do play on PC and I've got a Steam and GOG.com queue that's already getting deep with games I'm meaning to play someday.
