I have a question. I have never played Witcher 1 and idk if my PC can play it. I'd like to play the second on xbox though in the future when it drops in price. Is there any type of "Previously on" or anything to sum it up for me without me having to watch a playthrough?

It maybe could play witcher 1 non enhanced. I don't see any demo though and that's the best way for me to know

So is this about your PC specs? I don't see any reason for playing a "non-enhanced" version since it doesn't offer any "performance boost" at all.

I would think almost any PC would run Witcher 1 now unless you have a truly ancient machine.  The enhanced edition is probably better in fact, since it's optimized with a lot of bugs taken out.  That said, you don't really need to play 1 before playing 2.  It gives more background on the world and on what it means to be a witcher, but 2 is pretty standalone in terms of story.

Finished Roche's path today.  I like it, though Iorveth's path definitely feels more organic for my Geralt.  I'll wait til the EE comes out and replay a canon game on Iorveth's path.  Am I the only one around here who prefers it?

Also curious what other people do with Sile.

Kill the ****, of course. Serious my reaction after she gave her little speech was:

"We may have lost a battle but the war is just beginning, you have however shall not take part in it. This is your end, witcher."

"And this is yours, ****."

O really? Cool, I'm gonna have to get it then and get the first when I get a gaming pc. I don't thing I have an ancient machine. This thing can play a good amount but I checked my stats and doesn't seem like it'll run the enhanced.

I don't know much about computers. 4GBs of RAM I think

My graphics is: Intel G46/43 express chip set

CPU: Intel core 2 duo E7200

But isn't that playing into the Nilfgaardians' plans?  I don't begrudge Letho his little games, but don't want to see him succeed at them, either.  Sile played the game like all the others.

She's dead either way and as G.R.R.M once said: When you play the game of thrones you win or you die. Letho won, Sile died.

And as you well know, I prefer to help Empires.

***SPOILERS***

I like the characters better on Roche's side. Lot's of players love Roche - he's the Garrus of the TW universe, only a bit unhinged. Vess is great, but underused. Vergen and its side quests are more interesting than Henselt's camp imo.

On Sile, I won't lie. I'm totally enamoured with that wicked b*tch.  It was hard to kill her.

I'm an A.D.D sort, so I honestly can't pick up all the intricacies a plot like TW2 offers till I've played it several times. I may change my mind with more game time.

Kept her alive. Don't see the point of killing her.
I respect the lodge and if she can survive the coming war she deserves to live. Plus she coud be useful to the North.

Sile is dead in both my canon Order/Roche playthrough and my non-canon Scoia'tael/Iorveth one. ^_^

Philipa is just ****ing awesome, that's why. In regards to Sile though, oh man she's one of the very few characters in any video game I just love to kill. I don't hate her, in fact I like her as a character, but damn if killing her doesn't feel good.

Why woudn't I?
They are acting for their interests like all others, but unlike them, they are the only ones offering the North a vision that might break the stagnation with regards to nonhumans, mages and indeed all of statescraft. Can't stand feudalism.

of course I respect those who outplayed them more for their capabilities. But in terms of vision, I identify with alot of it.

It seems like you have integrated graphics and don't have a true graphics card which isn't the best for gaming. If you ended up getting The Witcher 1, I think every available version is the Enhanced Edition though. No reason not to play the Enhanced edition in any event since its got bug fixes and performance fixes too.

I spared her. Thats more a weakness I have in most RPGs where I hate killing people, thinking they might be useful later on given the chance. Although in my first run, I went against that method of thinking and killed Henselt. I still haven't finished my second run of the game going Iorveth's path...

Thats what I love about some of the choices in TW2- they're genuinely hard choices with no "right" answer. So with Henselt, on one hand, he's personally repugnant and on a personal/revenge level, my Geralt wanted that pig dead. But, if you kill him, you're no better than Letho and are playing right into his hand, weakening the north. Cause as much as you might personally dislike Henselt, he seems to be a fairly competent king. So do you put aside your personal animosity towards the guy or act out on your personal feelings? Its a tough choice.

I had Henselt killed in large part due to Kaedwen being a chief rival of Temeria that wanted to annex portions of it and from a metagaming perspective it leaves Redania as the dominant power in the North.

I don't have a lap top but I guess they are. I can play penumbra and some other moderner stuff on it (Source engine games for the most part). I'll just get it when I get them both when I get a gaming PC.

What I don't get is that Badowski said in the interview they want you going with emotions, and given the complexity of the plot that's really hard for me to do. I'm always thinking very analytically about consequences. My choices in TW1 were more from the heart kind of stuff, in TW2 not so much. In fact nothing in TW2 disturbs me as much as discovering Toruviel's fate, not even what happens to the Blue Stripes in Roche's path. It's a more conceptual game imo.

I personally feel a lot of emotions while playing the game, hell even after so many playthroughs and I always make the same choices.

Nothing in W2 tops the revelation in W1 that the group my Geralt had been supporting all along(the Order) ended up being the main antagonist of the story and the ones behind Salamandra. The neat part about it is that it didn't invalidate my choices nor was I berated for being an idiot like ME3 does with Cerberus(sigh).

I can think of a better revelation in TW1.

TW2 had no big revelation and I like it for that. It's grounded and very well written that it doesn't need fancy revelations and plot twists to be complex.

So you're pro-Nilfgaardian?  I guess that makes sense, then.  But whether Sile or Letho win or die is in Geralt's hands.  They both taunt him, saying they can kill him.  They both were just pursuing their own interests.  I don't see why that makes Letho a badass and Sile a b****.

Personally I would have spared her, if I could ever figure out how to get the diamond out.  lol

What happens to her?  And did you play for the Order or Scoia'tael in TW1?  Just want to keep my stuff straight.  I don't remember a lot of the details from TW1.  Suppose I should replay that, too, someday.

How in the world is CDPR going to account for all the possible outcomes....

@ KoP:  Why do you like Radovid so much?
