But on their site, well after this news was posted, Iwinski ( or one of the devs) specifically stated they had not released the genre of the new IP yet.

IIRC the news about CD Projekt's future plans was first reported by serious Polish business news that took it from CD Projekt's own announcement to investors and shareholders. As you might know, CD Projekt RED is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange which obliges them to some making some public disclosures on their internal situation.
I believe what Iwinski said related to announcement to the gaming press as opposed to the boring business press.

I'd kill for a Sci-Fi RPG made by these guys. Specially considering how they aren't under supervision by a company like EA.

i dream of a proper sci fi RPG. Bioware has failed, we need CDPR to find another way for us

I'd rather it wasn't Dune. Part of the charm of The Witcher for me was that I was totally unfamiliar with it. Let the writers create their own universe.

How high is the possibility that CDPR will release a new RPG in where one can have a silent protagonist or at least some facial customization?

The Witcher 2 was great but I'm getting kinda sick of all these preset characters etc (Shepard, Geralt etc). I want something similar to Dragon Age: Origin customization where I can go and say that's ME rather than just guiding an established character alongside the story.

Gosh I miss those days. x(

More and more, I am preferring set voiced protagonists (Shepard was not set, he was in between). So I hope CDPR doesn't revert back to silent PCs.

As for how likely it is, I think it's unlikely.

I think only Geralt was a true set protagonist in the games that we've played Knight. Thorton was like Shepard from the perspective, less so sure, but still he was in between.

Personally I had enough of this crap illusion of choice Bioware throws around.

Jensen as well. Yes Thorton was like Shepard and Hawke, only done extremely right.

Man i love Thorton. The dialogue system really helped make him feel so idk fleshed out.

Illusion? Bioware's games don't even pretend that player choice matters anymore.

Ditto, I'm sick of these soulless hermaphrodite PCs in BW games and by having a set PC  one can use the resources that would have been diverted to some tacked on gimmick like femshep to create additional content for everyone.

If it was any other developer, I'd be fine with blank slate. But if it's CDPR, give me a semi-predetermined character. They do it too well.

I still need to be able to customize the character. Geralt is a good example of a pre-defined personality with lots of player input into how he perceives the world's elements and his general morality.

The day protagonists become completely set is the day i stop playing RPGs. Well, the RPG genre would cease to exist then, so i guess i'd have no choice in the matter anyway.

I was always wondering how good RED Engine would handle face customisation. If it was paired with different body size models... that would be neat!

Whatever they decide on, set/blank slate character, I'm all for it.

I'd rather they stuck to fantasy and not go into sci-fi (but only because I'm simply not into sci-fi that much :D ).

Anyway, a quick EE question.

Downloaded the data (10 gb or so) into my custom TW2 folder.
Anyone know if that's okay (custom path) or did it need to go into the default folder (Program Files/Witcher 2/Downloads)?

It doesnt matter as long as whole thing stays in the same direction prior patching. I did put it in Program Files/Witcher 2/Downloads for order reason.

Gotta agree with you. Bioware games these days feel like RPG tag is tagged on , when they are generally action games. Looking at da2 and ME3 its clear. Choices are non existant, and in ME3 ton of auto dialogue, meaning it doesnt feel like you have any control over the character.

RPG is nothing more than a tag attached for semantics

Does anyone know the song playing in the cinematic trailer where Letho starts slashing people in the boat?

No and I've been begging for it for weeks.

According to credits on Platige's website, the music in the cinematic was composed by Adam Skorupa, i.e. the very same guy who composed the music for both Witcher games. You might ask him, if he still hangs around the Witcher forums (I haven't been there for ages).

I've never seen him there, but I'd be the first to compliment him on his work in both games.

He used to hang around on the old forum, before W2 was released.

It's doing pretty good critically, maybe better than I thought it would on console.

Shame most of the PC reviewers don't go back and review the game with all it's free content like Gamebanshee and others did. It will be stuck at 88 metacritic which means Witcher 2 reached CDPR's goal of a 90+ metacritic rating on consoles.

Well we'll see after it launches if people rage.

They seem to really like it, but I feel they should have given it a 9.0 instead with all that praise. oh well. is it really only a 30 hour game, though? I like longer RPGs.

ex. Mass Effect games were always 60 hours for me.
