Personal imports are not only overrated but well nigh impossible. They need to stick to the main plot which is complex already, not what each of us did. The idea as a game mechanic is flawed.

I am not expecting the main plot of TW3 to deviate based on our choices in TW2.

What I am expecting however is for instance the death of a certain monarch not to be inconsequential. I will be satisfied if the consequences are shown (or told, but I'd like that less) in some small but meaningful way, without altering the plot of TW3.

Ideally, the culmination of our choices in TW2 should have *some* bearing on the outcome of the war.

One passive decision I hope they recognize is if Geralt refused to assist Iorveth at the end of Act 2 on Roche path. I consciously made the decision to leave him to rot and hopefully Iorveth is less... pleasant with Geralt whenever they meet up again.

There's another decision. In act 1 you can volunteer to drink a potion for some alchemists. I am assuming they are keeping the consequences for that till later.

Does Geralt even drink it? I don't remember anything happening.

Me neither, but I assumed he drinks it if he accepts....unless I am missing something.

It's just a critical chance mutagen he gets. I believe it's purpose is to just to tell you about mutagens and give you a free one.

If you refused to help Iorveth in Act 1 in the battle between Scoia'Tel and Blue Stripes he is not friendly in Act 2 if you save him then.

I know but hopefully that makes the relationship even more antagonistic down the line(along with killing Saskia).

Well it took four years to develop Witcher 2 plus a brand new engine. I hope since the engine is well obviously here they can take their time to implement their ideas. If they can do a great with import system I'm all for it. Like you said certain very big decisions like that should be acknowledge especially with what is happening down south.

This article is very in depth and brings up an interesting quesiton. The lighting on xbox has been overhauled and in some cases seems to lack a filter that the PC version has. So I'm wondering if the EE will adjust lighting effects on PC as well.

Supposedly the Mottle and succubus sex scenes are the ones cut for the Aussie version of the game, lol. No love for bestiallity? What gives? B)

The did a great job with the lighting.

EDIT: Just saw the video how the hell did they manage to keep it running at 30fps nearly the whole time yet Mass Effect 3 drops to like 25fps!

If you want a side by side comparison of dev philosophies, check it out:

Though not specific to any new system, Epic Games design director Cliff Bleszinski told us that a leap in visual fidelity is an "essential step" that Microsoft and Sony need to take with future-generation consoles. Speaking with us at PAX East 2012 last weekend, the said he wants a leap in visual fidelity to be a big part of next-gen systems. "Face-melting graphics," he said. "I really want our next-generation consoles to pass what I call the 'Mom Test.' So that if you were to show this console and games to your mom, she would be like, 'Wow, that clearly looks better than your last console.' And it's an essential step that needs to be taken by both Sony and Microsoft." Bleszinski also noted that he hopes for "always-connected consoles that basically require an Internet connection. So that I can just wake up in the morning and say, 'Oh a new demo has been downloaded on my hard drive, so I can check it out.' As well as considering streaming gaming from the cloud, which would be very nice."

Hmmm...Epic or CDPR?

Tough choice.

Microsoft is clearly paying him to endorse such a stupid idea.

All this makes think of is what Chris Avellone said when he responded to someone say "Writing trumps graphics"

Avellone - "...annnnd say that in a publisher pitch meeting, and you can hear a pin drop. The marketing guys will simply leave."

Which obviously worries me about their future projects.

Avellone has always delivered on a story level, every single goddamn time. I don't give a damn for the gameplay of Dungeon Siege 3, but it's story is solid.

Only one day left until TW2 is released on 360. I am SO pumped. I know it will make me forget the horror of ME3.

Very cool, I love the music of TW2 and that choir sounds lovely, especially for the end of the game. Really reminds me of the soundtrack to Kingdom of Heaven. It sounds like something you'd hear in a church, not a video game. Awesome.

I've been working overtime on two papers I have due next week. So when the game gets to me I should have 72 hours free before I have to start studying for finals. I wonder if I can finish a playthrough by then or if I should wait two weeks without touching it then take my time once finals are over.

You can finish it in 30-40 hrs on easy or medium. Hard might take longer. I crapped up my alchemy build and died more than I'd like to remember in my first run. Died like 30 time at the last boss. err...second to last. ;)

There's scenes there that show Loredo welcoming Kaedweni troops into Flotsam! I assume that's what happens if you don't kill him on Iorveth path.

In summary then, it's clear that The Witcher 2 has the performance to match the spectacle. This may well be a PC conversion, but the level of technical accomplishment we see here is more in line with what we'd expect from a top-tier first-party studio designing a game directly for the strengths of the host console hardware.

Compare and contrast with a comparable technology - such as Anvil, the Assassin's Creed engine, which has gradually evolved across four games thus far. On its first attempt, CD Projekt RED has bested it in virtually every way, from characters to environment detail to lighting to effects work - and it runs more smoothly to boot. Combine what is a landmark technological achievement with an intriguing story, enormous amounts of depth and a fun combat system and we have the complete package, well worth its Eurogamer 9/10 review score.

I've read a number of reviews that claim when looting, you can't single out items in a container, but you have to take all. Was this the case with a controller on PC as well? Also, the inventory seems to be a pretty regular complaint despite their efforts. Overall, I think the reviews for console have been largely on target. Kind of refreshing really.
