Bleh...just downloaded the EE patch and its all corrupted and whatnot. Spent too much time mucking around trying to fix it so I'm just uninstalling and redownloading the EE off of GOG.
I love CD Projekt but their patching process for TW2 has sucked.
I think the issue is with 2 files. You can fix it without having to uninstall, but I do not know the procedure.
Steam faced no such problems as far as I know.

Oh, I tried redownloading the files manually and it still wasn't working. The whole launcher disappeared and...just easier to redownload the EE at this point I think.

And yes CDPR has some problems here and there. I still didn't get my Xbox copy for instance, but I am patient.

Would you play it on Xbox knowing you can't import choices?

Though I think this is just a thing of mine with new series. It was the same when I played Origins.

Lets be realistic: their patching sucks ass. I love them you know that, but jesus christ, every single patch has created as many problems as they fix. Just look on GoG and their tech site, it's 'how do I get this game running?" over and over again.
EE is great. It still needs fixing.

I have to admit that I too found it initially a bit hard to get into the game. It took me a couple of hours to find my feet. I think things started picking up when I did the asylum quest and I fully got stuck in when I hit the Rose of Remembrance quest.

I know the feeling, it was the same with me and GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption.

Being a Steam user, I can't say I experienced any of that personally, it was mroe or less smooth (except version 2.0 got delayed a bit). But I did hear of problems in other version and yea that's something they should be working on.

And every time I see the Knights of the Order I have to think: "Those guys may be some massive jerks, but they look damn fine in their red&black armor"

I got the EE on Steam.
Installed smoothly.
Pros so far:
Even pre CH3, the added content is bloody magnificent. Supposedly, choosing Shani now matters...is this true? Haven't seen it yet, but I just arrived in Flotsam...
The game runs more smoothly than ever.
Cons...
Not game related but Save Management is even more of a pain this time around. And I lost hours of gaming due to saves disappearing for no reason whatsoever.

You get closure only. Finally we see why Shani and Geralt are no longer together and it was handled very well imo.

And Arena is even harder to me. Maybe I'm a big ****, but Arena is the hardest mode I have ever played.

It's a GoG.com problem only, related to the pre-download. My initial TW2 pre-download didn't work, either, so I do think they need to work on that since Steam didn't have the same problems.

Ah. I never wanted more than that, an explanation will suffice. Does it happen in Act III or?

I don't understand this "Geralt has no personality" thing. I guess I really like withdrawn, grumpy men with a basic kernel of goodness.forsaken gamer wrote...
Geralt doesn't really have a personality in the books, from what I've been told, and the game is based on the books. That probably doesn't make you like his character any more, but that's why.
Anyway... different mileage.
Inventory and other menus are definitely a step down from TW1.The inventory system isn't anything to brag about, that's for sure. Unfortunately this is one of the cons to using consoles, because you can't mod the 360 version like you can the pc version. The 'panel tweaks' mod is pretty helpful. I think the devs should have just implemented it or something similar into the EE version. I think the modder is probably currently updating it for the EE, because he/she has hidden the files on the Nexus.
That is true in both TW1 and 2 I think, worse in TW1.slimgrin wrote...
There might be a bug similar to DA:Origins, in that the more save you have, the longer the loading times. So I've been regularly deleting save I don't need.

In TW2 I liked when he starts telling a dwarf that the prophet Lebioda encouraged the giving of discounts.
Ha! I loved that part.
In the conversation with Baron Kimbolt (which is one of my favorites in the entire game), you see Geralt being awesome. He has a certain sense of wisdom, awareness and intelligence, coupled with cynicism.
Just when I thought Baron Kimbolt was verbally kicking his ass, Geralt has a clever retort up his sleeve.

I don't remember that one. I'm still finishing up my TW1 replay, so I just had a debate with an alchemist in Vizima about the validity of Kalkstein's theories of the divisibility of matter. You can either give wiseacre answers (like saying the practical application is to impress women) or convince him the theories are valid and he wasted a year of seminar Pretty funny either way.KnightofPhoenix wrote...

They walk a nice balance in both games of making Geralt proactive without being godlike, and of allowing the player to shape his attitudes without turning him into a blank slate. Of course it helps that the story line is so good, especially in TW2. it makes the characters shine without feeling contrived.
