Siegfried must be a very devout man in order to turn down all that ass he'd be getting with his singing in favor of his beliefs. Another reason why he's the best character in the series.

Being the Grand Master, he could very well change the rules of the Order if he wants.

Besides, I don't remember whether it was directly stated that celibacy is actually a requirement for being in the Order. Siegfried's virginity could as well be a result of his religiosity and/or social awkwardness.

The celibacy could explain why the Knights of the Order are such colossal jerks

The knights of the order are good people. They keep monsters, mages and non-humans in check.

I seriously didn't find much differences between their methods and attitudes and that of the Squirrels, who obviously do not observe celibacy. Besides, as opposed to the Squirrels, knights actually do help some people and do it free of charge.

Like Geralt said in Witcher 1 "I guess faires build your castles and armor". The Order is just better funded.

By Redanian intelligence.

Yea the Redanians have always been badasses.

My boy Siegfried vouching for Radovid was one of the major reasons why I ended up giving Anais to him.

It took me a while to figure out that the Squirrels were the Scoia'tael, lol. I glossed over it when reading the journal. I initially thought that there were some giant mutant squirrels out in the forest that people were afraid of. Wouldn't be out of place in this game! :P

And he's surprinsigly laissez-faire.

Siegfried: "Radovid's ambitious"
Roche: "How ambitious?"
Siegfried: "More than anyone imagined. But that's not a bad quality in a leader."
(paraphrasing)

Also "We believe mages are capable of regulating magic on their own."
When I first heard that I was like: could you please annihilate all the idiot Templars in DA and replace them?

I always make sure to be on Radovids good side. That guy is a major badass, Siegfried vouching for him just reinforces that. And we all know how harassing him turned out for Philippa.

Philippa pissed me off....so I am going to annihilate the Lodge and maybe all the mages with them.

Yea.

Simplifying for humor's sake, I don't think what he did to Philippa was personal only.
But that's what I love about this game, there is no one person that doesn't have flaws in their policies and imo, what Radovid does or allows to happen to the mages if you don't save Triss is a flaw. Understandable, but it's an error (perhaps the error Shilard alluded to in the Witcher World trailer).

A messy one. I was pretty shocked about the updated Loc Muinne, when I came back after saving Saskia. Was there so much gore before the EE? All those impaled mages... brrr... even actually seeing one being impaled in the video.

What he had done to Phillipa is why I couldn't bring myself to rush off after Triss. I mean, here you had this woman who just had both her eyes ripped out and left. I dunno, I think I'm not hard enough to live in Witcherverse.
I just had to get her somewhere safe. Even with everything that she'd done. It was made more bitter when she flew off again but I guess I ended up taking it out on not so poor Sile.

Uh, I wouldn't wish for Siegfried and the Order to be in a Bioware game. They would be portrayed as the Ku Klux Klan.

That was definitely a shock for me. It just brought me to my senses. I mean the game isn't one to be played with kid gloves but that was brutal. Reminded me of the Kirkwall scene in ACT 2 of DA2 but of course, much more explicit and horrifying. And less cartoony too.

The gore is only present in the Enhanced Edition.

And apparently that line is a reference to a Polish lecture about Greek mythology, said when the titans were defeated and the new gods assumed power  I believe. It signifies the birth of a new order, with new leaders (heads of states).

And just to clarify, I am fully in support with what Radovid did to Philippa, even though I love and respect Philippa a lot. And I am in support with what he does with the Lodge. But what he potentially does against all mages or at least allows to happen is something I do not agree with and it contradicted what he said in the conference itself: "A court of law will reveal the traitors."

I am hoping that Radovid simply lost control, especially after the dragon's attack and couldn't impose order on soldiers who've gone bezerk, as opposed to him actually ordering a Witch hunt.

Just give me their armor in DA... or the armor of the mages. I really love the design of the Nilfgaard mage armor. They really look like battle mages and not just like guys in skirts B)

Radovid would make a great antagonist for my (non-canon) Scoia'tael/Iorveth path Geralt.

TW2 made me want to kill all the sorceress besides Triss and Yen.... and it made another part of me wish I could continue working for Philippa.

Doesn't Iorveth mention that the Kings retreated after the dragon attack and that there was nobody left to keep the soldiers from initiating said massacre and the skirmishes among themselves? But I'm not sure if I remember that correctly.

I do remember something like that yes.
But as the epilogue slides show, mages were burned at the stake after Loc Muinne. However it's also hard for a ruler to keep an angry mob in check.

I think Henselt is in support of a witch hunt. I am hoping Radovid isn't, but simply can't stop it.

And why wouldn't he support it? He greatly dislikes Phillipa and isn't afraid to use force when necessary. Not saying he was reponsible necesarily but I don't see why he would opose it.
