Well that's why I care so much to study Rome. They are far more impressive then the Medieval nations.

And humans started killing elves and oppressing them long before the Socia'tael. That kind of thinking leads to nowhere. BS needs to end, I don't give a damn who started it.

How exactly do you end it by letting Malena go while killing Loredo? Both parties should be dealt with in this case.

I don't end it because that choice doesn't solve anything to begin with and my Geralt is under no illusion that he can change the world, let alone do so with that choice. In such circumstances, considering how for him and for me there is no legitimate way of punishing Malena for a crime that I very wlel understand, the only option I have is to let her go and hope she got the lesson. If not, then she'll get what's coming to her eventually.

It's not an ideal choice, ideally Malena would have been tried for her crimes. But there is no legitimate rule of law in sight, when the law encourages such things to happen in the first place.

As for why I kill Loredo and not Malena. Loredo is in a position of power, is much more dangerous, is making the situation with nonhumans in the city worse and on top of it all, is a corrupt scum.

I finished Roche's path.

Out of curiosity, if you let Radovid get Anais prior to the EE, does Roche change his colors, or was this added in the EE?

It was always there with Roche's colors.

Knight: I see then. Well I guess we'll just have to disagree on that one.

The "Red stripes" outfit was always there.

You will find that I operate largely on case to case basis. In that sense, I have no intrinsically held principles, except a complete rejection of sadism, hatred and revenge.

I can forgive the exact same crime if it happened in a different context.

Thanks.  I suspected that, but wasn't sure.  I thought that I had let Radovid get Anais before one time, but evidently not.  I would have remembered that.

Yet Malena is doing what she is doing becase of hatred and perhaps revenge ( we know she has a history with Dimitri ).

I know, I never said I agreed with her actions. I understand and sympathize with them. But I still disagree with them.

And because I disagree with them, I won't succumb to hatred or revenge, and there is no legitimate way to dish out justice at the time.

EDIT: now if I felt that Malena was still a threat to me, then she would have died.

Oh really? There are 2 Elven Craftsmen in the entirty of the game series and you comapre to what the dwarves have? There exceptions everywhere.

Why are those exceptions and the dwarven craftsmen a rule?  Only because you say so, I guess.  This beside the fact that the elven strengths are in magic and forest lore, and not only in craftsmanship. Not to mention Elder Blood having such incredible power that even diluted it can allow people to teleport, see visions, etc.

( Granted Iorveth does want to stop killing, but after 100 years of doing it does he really expect anyone to forgive and forget just like that? Even Saskia strongly doubts it ).

Ultimately I see no reason whatsoever to give a damn for them or their stupid cause and no I am not including the wild hunt here. Those elves are an entirely different matter.

You don't have to.  But their cause is no less worthy than any other, and I don't see why they are in the wrong whereas humans in killing them are in the right.  I guess you prefer Henselt's brand of terrorism to theirs.  That's fine for you.

I let Malena go, but not gladly.  She is incredibly stupid for not seeing that Geralt is a better ally than enemy, which she doesn't recognize even when he lies for her.

I love the trolls in The Witcher 2. They are so awesome.

For some reason Geralt's line talking to the drunk Troll cracks me up: "Brain pain always comes with a reason." I just love his deadpan delivery.

I love that Vergen music.  The names on the sound track are Dwarven stone upon Dwarven Stone and Vergen by night

I think I could just wander around Vergen doing nothing but listening to the music.^_^

Well, I've finished a Roche and Iorveth EE playthrough  CDPR has done a spectacular job with Act III - it's vastly improved compared to the original. There are plenty of memorable moments in the game which I've decided to upload. Already posted it in the official Witcher 2 forums. Should be excellent reference material for those who are interested:

Maybe because both are Scoia'Tel, who are all dumb in my eyes, and maybe because there are a lot more Dwarven Craftsmen then Elven ones. 5 in TW1 ( 1 in Outskirts, 3 in Vizimia and 1 Quartermarster ) and just as many in TW2, perhaps more. ( 2 in Flotsman, 2 in Vergen and 1 in Henselt's camp ).

Not to mention Elder Blood having such incredible power that even diluted it can allow people to teleport, see visions, etc.

So? Elder Blood is not something only elves have, forgetting Ciri by chance? To me it's irrelevant what the elves were at any rate. It only matters what they are now.

I guess you prefer Henselt's brand of terrorism to theirs. That's fine for you.

Oh yeah. I prefer a rightful monarch waging war for a portion a land he has a claim to over mass murdering terrorist elves or that I prefer sidding with Siegfried and appreciating the ideals of the Order of the Flaming Rose over Yaevinn or that I prefer helping Roche and Radovid.

Saskia's cause is not the same as their own, and even Saskia won't achieve anything without someone like Phillipa to aid her. Excuse me if I believe that Henselt, for all the **** he does, is better then Yaevinn or Iorveth.  But hey idealism rules right and we can forgive all the crimes the Scoia'Tel!

So yes, the Scoia'Tel's cause to me is worth less then a pile of dung, and besides the Scoia'Tel there is no other elven cause to support. I strongly agree with what Yarpen Zigrin said to Ciri in the second witcher book.

The trolls were very lovable  much like the talking Ghoul from TW1. I always help the Trolls besides that one jerk on the Kaedweni side of the mist who starts throwing boulders at Geralt for no reason.

Ok, so I love Iorveth and Geralt's pretty much Old Man Logan with white hair. Yet Triss still rubs me the wrong way. I think I finally know why. She comes off as the concerned girlfriend far too much and I really don't care for that. Saskia on the other hand...

One more bug question...None of my saves after the Rose of Remembrance quest are loading. I went from there and explored across the broken bridge, took out a bandit camp then continued the main quest. Have I somehow broken the game?

Old Man Logan was a mini-series they did about Wolverine when he's about 150 years old, and the world is a bit of a mess. He's pretty much a mirror image of Geralt. He's an extemely violent old man, yet he doesn't want to use that violence to solve political problems, he pretty much wants to pick up the shambles of his life.

If Saskia is like her initial introduction, which I'm playing through right now, then I'm gonna love her.

Let's say Saskia has rather unique preferences when it comes to men ;)

Are you on xbox? I hear the saving mechanic is less than ideal on that platform. No quick saving. You might want to try the tech forum.

I could care less about romance arcs in games, ME3 ruined that for me. I was just speaking from a character perspective. Both Saskia and Phillippa are more my kind of characters, Triss is just too nice and doesn't have the youthful ineptitude to make it charming.
