If Saskia is like her initial introduction, which I'm playing through right now, then I'm gonna love her.

She's a good character and impressive in her own right.

I love how her facial features are, well, subtly appropriate. As an artist I'm convinced this is no accident.

One more bug question...None of my saves after the Rose of Remembrance quest are loading. I went from there and explored across the broken bridge, took out a bandit camp then continued the main quest. Have I somehow broken the game?

Are you on xbox? I hear the saving mechanic is less than ideal on that platform. No quick saving. You might want to try the tech forum.

Yeah I am. I've had no issues with the saving up until now, it has 3 rolling autosaves and you can manually save anywhere you want outside combat. I dunno what went wrong, I thought maybe I did something that broke it.

Aside from reloading to your last save I'm not sure what you can do.

Both Saskia and Phillippa are more my kind of characters, Triss is just too nice and doesn't have the youthful ineptitude to make it charming.

Philippa Eilhart is probably my favorite female video game character.

I said it once and I will say it again. Only she can tell dwarves to stfu in their own city.

Truly Phillipa is the thing that makes Iorveth's path good to me, that and the Dwarves.

Had Philippa and Radovid been a couple, Nilfgaard would not have been in an enviable situation.

Sadly (in a very good way) my two favorite politicians clashed.

Philippa is the best female character in the games bar none. I'll still end up beheading her if possible in TW3 though.

Phillipa is plain brilliant. I'm not sure there is a single thing I'd change about her place in the story and the way she was represented. I rank her alongside Triss, White Rayla, and Touruviel as my fav female characters in the series.

It's not really a problem perse, but Philippa's political brilliance is not something shown in the events of the game itself, considering how she is outplayed by several characters / factions. But it's done very well and in a manner that makes sense, so it's not really a flaw in the story (indeed, her becomign desperate is a critical element in the plot).

But I would really like to have an expansion or something that shows that Eilhart is not out of the game yet and is ready to re-impose her status as magnificent ****.

The more I think about it the more I think Touruviel should have been the main Scoia'tael companion in TW1 instead of Yaeviin in order to balance things out with the friendly nature of Siegfried.  Yaevinn should have been the Scoai'tael's path counterpart to Rayla.

Maybe, but that would neglect what they were trying to do with Toruviel. She's meant to be a tragic character, in the wrong place at the wrong time sort of thing, in over her head and I think she's there to help underline how bloody ruthless Rayla is.

Yeah, I had to go for that option. I was worried I'd triggered some known bug and would accidently do it again.

I've got to the point where I have to face Letho in the Elven baths. I take it my choice of handing Iorveth his sword or not is what affects the rest of the game? I did it just as a gut reaction and I'm not sure if I want to follow that path.

No. That choice has consequences for Flotsam. But you choose your path after that.

Thats not the BIG choice, but that does change some things.

Anyway, I'm at the big choice now and can't decide. I'll probably go with Roche only cause I played through Iorveth's path most recently.

But for an eventual canon run, I'm trying to think what my version of Geralt would do:

He doesn't get involved too much with political stuff and has no interest in that.
He is very loyal to his friends and if they need his help, he'll get involved, even if its political.

On one hand, he'd want to help out an old friend like Zoltan.
He'd want to head straight to Vergen to try and find Triss.
But that means helping Iorveth, who he really doesn't know and doesn't care much for.

Or helping Roche, who has proven a pretty reliable friend.
Would allow him to presumably clear his name, which is important cause he doesn't want to be seen as a kingslayer.
And he wants revenge for Foltest's death, since Foltest was sort of a friend to him.
And he doesn't like Loredo.

I kind of think for my canon run I'll end up going with Iorveth, only cause you can still sort of be friendly with Roche on that path still and Saskia seems like a big wild card going forward, more than Henselt.

Of all the mages, Dethmold is my favorite to be honest. He's such a quirky character. Despite his name and the appearance akin to Wormtongue, he has a smooth voice, likes to joke, has a very fun affection to all things morbid, stands proud even when faced with execution and is very well-mannered until his position of power is in danger

Love the trolls. They remind me of super mutants.

So I've been fighting with more common swords, but I feel like I need a silver sword. Any idea where I can find one in Vergen?

You have to craft it but I think one of the side quests will reward you with one, can't remember which.

There's a decent silver sword named Fate that you can get pretty early in the Dwarven catacombs behind Vergen.

Why are those exceptions and the dwarven craftsmen a rule? Only because you say so, I guess.

Maybe because both are Scoia'Tel, who are all dumb in my eyes, and maybe because there are a lot more Dwarven Craftsmen then Elven ones. 5 in TW1 ( 1 in Outskirts, 3 in Vizimia and 1 Quartermarster ) and just as many in TW2, perhaps more. ( 2 in Flotsman, 2 in Vergen and 1 in Henselt's camp ).

Well you just saying they're dumb doesn't make it so.  Henselt is dumb.  So there.

The elven craftsman in TW1 mentions that elves prefer to create works of beauty rather than utilitarian things.  Different strokes for different endangered folks.

Oh yeah. I prefer a rightful monarch waging war for a portion a land he has a claim to over mass murdering terrorist elves or that I prefer sidding with Siegfried and appreciating the ideals of the Order of the Flaming Rose over Yaevinn or that I prefer helping Roche and Radovid.

Rightful is just a word.  There's no such thing.

Dethmold was definitely fun to talk to.  Moreso than Philippa.  I guess I prefer smarmy men to b*tchy women.

I'm doing my first playthrough on normal just to get used to things so I ended up not having to use any potions. He wasn't too bad. I'd alot more trouble with the Kayran, though it was enjoyable trouble.

Addai: People who can't even get their own food without stealing it are worthless. I seriously do not care for whatever argument you can bring about higher arts when they can't even feed themselves. I don't want to talk about that murderer Yaevinn who attacked a hospital at Brenna with the intent of slaughtering everyone, and would have if not for Toruviel.

Wait did you go through the entire Chapter 1 without a silver sword?
