How come in the Battlefield, i can die from two simple arrows?

The Battlefield is the most interesting place to visit to me and i was hoping to explore and observe the carnage.

I think it's draining your life.

No i don't think it is,  i specifically got hit by two arrows and just dropped dead, i'm using Elven armour. Perhaps it is rubbish armour.

I mean i get hit once and my health bar loses a significant amount with only a small little chunk left and then the second hit kills me.

When i first entered Vergen, if i stepped out of that bubble, my life bars ebs away slowly, not take more than half my health in one blow if i stepped out of that bubble.

Time for an upgrade I guess. I tend to craft better gear as soon as I can in each chapter. But man you really have to be stingy with your resources cause crafting can become a nightmare.

I have somewhere around 8,000 something coins. I wanted to make Kayren armour but i need one Kayren skin. I brought a new silver weapon from the mysterious merchant.

You're not supposed to explore the Battlefield, that's why you have to have either Dethmold or Philippa guide you through the mist. Is that the section you are talking about? If so, it has nothing to do with not having a good enough build or setup.

Did you loot the kayran in chapter 1?

And yeah, like the others said, if what you mean is you're exploring the mist during your time in Vergen or the Kaedweni camp, then that's meant to be insta-death.  There will be plotted opportunities to cross the mist again when you pursue the main quests.

BTW a good general rule is to do all your sidequests first- monster hunting, solving people's minor problems, dice rolling and fistfighting, etc.- before you do those main quests, otherwise you might have the sidequests cut off.

I am just curios how would you set your plans with regards to the elves in motion...seeing as you would likely be dead and all by that stage.

Well I am not a ruler in the North.

But long term reform can and do happen. If you teach your successor to expand on it. If you already start to change social beliefs, by promiting learning as opposed to superstitious nonsense. If you have a solid bureaucracy that can follow up on your vision....etc. And before you know it, society itself would take that and expand on it.

Reforms like that are possible. Not easy, but nothing worthwhile is.

I lost all my respect for Scoia'tael after a description of a war ridden village in Time of contempt. When Geralt and Co. went through the enemy lines they passed by a woodshed/barn. This image stuck as it was described how rutheless elves can be - dehumanizing, they only kill dhoine, right? So, the shed, elves did not soil their blades, they used whatever was in the shed to slaughter the whole village - including women, children, the old. Saws and hatchets, chisels and other.

The problem with elves is that they see humans as a lowly creatures that took their land. Hairy monkeys that came down from trees not so long ago. And to top it all, when they have sex with elven females - elven kind ovulate every time they have contact (IIRC), which is not the same with elven males. Avallach once said that humans werent butchered in the past coz elven ladies did not give consent to that notion/plan :)

But now I'm being derrangelly incohesive, erratic and offtopic ;P

You sure it was the Elves? I got the impression that the Nilfgaardian marauders were involved.

Yes it does. The devs really botched this. Your best bet is to peruse each area and memorize it.

The map is a bit of a bollocks, especially when it shows things that aren't there, like enemies.

Is there any way to upgrade Geralt's carrying capacity? I seem to constantly be carrying around 260w worth of stuff, which doesn't leave a whole lot of room for looting. Not that you get much gold from looting anyway. I also spent way too much gold having relations with every wh*re outside the camp on Roche's path in Chapter 2.

Mods can address that, apart from that you'd have to avail yourself of the storage at the inns. If you put anything into storage in one location, it will be available at storage in the other locations too. So I go there regularly to dump crafting materials, special armors and weapons I don't want to sell, extra potions and ingredients etc.

It'll be a few weeks before the real nerds figure out modding for us on the 360. They did it with Mass Effect, skyrim, oblivion and even dragon age, so it's just a matter of time.

Believe it or not, loot in this game has logic. You sell anything and everything you don't need ( random weapons, armor). You stock all alchemy and crafting ingredients in your chest - only sell this stuff if you're sure you don't need it. Mix potions as needed per quest, and always drop excessive loot in the chest before a transition to the next chapter or a long quest where you know you'll gets lots of loot.

But don't sell off crafting ingrediants cause you'll always use that stuff later on.

The maps' main function seems to be to mock you as a wuss who needs to use a map.  :D

Like slim said, use the map to point yourself in a general direction and otherwise try to memorize routes and landmarks so you don't need it.

Is CDPR going to make The Witcher 3 universally for consoles and PC? And will it have multiplayer?

You want multiplayer?

*Imagines playing multiplayer wearing a headset*

Alright guys, when this battle is over, my Geralt has dibs on the pretty thing standing by herself to the left.  Got it?  I've been saving my orens for that.  You'se can go somewhere else and try one of the skanky ones with your Geralt, but mine's got that one!

And btw, when we meet at the tavern later, drinks are on you!

That's exactly what I had to do.  It was irksome because I thought, like in every other game with a mao, I'd follow it. It was starting to ****** me off, but eventually found the way to the "place of power."

I may have learned that crafting tip a bit too late. Though its mostly stuff like oil, cloth and timber I've been selling off because they seem to be in plentiful supply. I think I've sold some nekker items aswell but they were plentiful too and I've alot left.

I think my gear will need an upgrade soon anyway. Well my silver sword atleast, I've been using the sword of Kaer Morhen since chapter one.

If the game keeps this level of quality the whole way through then it will easily be one of the best games I've ever played.

Wasn't there supposed to be a console version of TW1 at some point before the devs decided to focus on TW2 instead?

Yeah, the French dev they outsourced it to botched it somehow and CDPR called it quits.

Without spoiling anything suffice to say that she's someone Geralt was/is deeply in love with. You'll find out the rest as you progress further along within the story.

Yeah, but they were having some issues with the company that was responsible for getting TW1 over to the 360, so sadly it got cancelled.
Some of the issues were mentioned here: kotaku.com/5232664/widescreen-games-halts-work-on-console-witcher

A great shame for the console kiddies as TW1 is a real gem. I'm currently having a blast in my fourth playthrough of it. ^_^

Not rubbing it in, just considering the itinerary CDPR has layed out in the next few years. I doubt it's a priority for them. They  have a new IP, and two smaller projects coming. And most likely TW3 is in development as well. Porting TW1 at this point would be a waste imo.

As Geralt recovers more of his memory, it will become clear.

Really looking forward to seeing Yennefer in the next installement.
