Just got to the Enhanced Edition quest in Act 3 with Brigida for the first time.

That forest path?

Damn.

This is one good looking game.

Just when I thought the game couldn't impress me any further with it's gorgeous environments, I walked into that forest with Brigada.

Kudos to CDPR with their attention to detail and excellent style, that continues with the EE.  If only more games would have this level of attention to detail, let alone the style...

I swear this site has the most ****ty upload mechanism I've come across. Its perm-resizing images function really pisses me off.

Aw, you gotta be kiddin me.  Zaeed and Hacket are some of the most engaging complex fleshed out characters I've ever come across.  There's a lot of depth there! You almost had my respect until that post.

Veto, Hacket is cool only because his voice is Lance Henriksen, same as Morrigan, she is cool because, she is a "copy and paste" of Aeryn Sun aka Claudia Black.

Crazy Idea: CDP RED making Babylon 5, Star Trek DS9 or Farscape rpg. ;)

Hackett was cool back in ME1 because he was this shady Admiral who was deliberately misleading Shepard to all his dirty work. The most notable ones are "the negotiation" where he sends Renegade Shepard to "negotiate" with Lord Darius knowing full well he's going to end up killing him and the Major Kyle mission where he expects a bloodbath and wants to keep the Alliance's hands clean.

Even with Arrival in ME2 there's a lot of indicators that Hackett misleads Sheaprd into initiating  the Project.

Unfortunately they turned him into a generic do gooder Admiral in ME3 and all such characteristics are gone.

Is that the succubus?

It's probably for clipping reasons, but apparently Geralt likes it Dorthraki style. ^^

I always end up killing the Succubus since we need all the manpower we can get to defend Vergen.

In my opinion (which is only based on the show as I have not read the books), The Witcher is better.

And the representation of politics, while done very well in both, is better in The Witcher.

I would say the Song of Ice and Fire books are better then the Witcher, but not by much.

The TV show is **** at this stage, save for a few scenes like ones with Tyrion "educating his nephew" or Danny and Jorah in the lastest episode.

On another note, what do you guys think of this:

I'm sure Martin is a great writer - too many of my valued friends like his work. But I get tired of hearing and reading the association.

Friend: "The Witcher?...oh, isn't that the one like Game of Thrones?"

Me: "No. It's the one Like Blood of Elves." <_<

@ Costin. Till I hear it from CDPR, I'm not buying any announcements. The most info we've got about CDPR's other game is Iwinski saying it will be 'more about machine gun fighting than Bow fighting', which intrigues me. I likes my gunz.

"The new game would be set in Nilfgaardian Empire, the story would revolve around two main plots, one is the Emperor’s secret problem, and the second is the confrontation between The Wild Hunt and the Witcher. "

No mention of an invasion? I'm not sure I believe it.

The war would be far away from the Imperial Capital where you would meet the Emperor.

Wonder how CDPR will handle the Wild Hunt plot in TW3 with respect to the one from TW1. I have a feeling they'll largely ignore TW1's like how Iorveth path assumes Geralt always killed the King OTWH and that he didn't give him Jacques' soul.

Comparing just the Witcher games to A Song of Ice Fire (the books), A Song of Ice and Fire is way better than The Witcher. Its not even close IMO. Its easy to see why they're compared though- they're both more gritty takes on fantasy with a focus on politics, backstabbing, sex and violence. The Witcher definitely is more traditional and more high fantasy though, since the overt fantasy elements in A Song of Ice and Fire are still in the periphery for the most part.

The TV show is more like the Cliff Notes of the books but they're starting to deviate a bit.

I wouldn still expect to see Geralt involved in some way but having just finished "The Secrets of Loc Muinne" I can see the Wild Hunt bit being true.

But those aren't the only things emphasized in The Witcher, in the games or in the book I read. This is why I find the comparison superficial, and annoying. Especially the sex and violence part.

But I think people end up comparing the two looking at how they deviate from your standard Tolkien or Dungeons and Dragons style High fantasy. And compared to something like Lord of the Rings, the most obvious deviations The Witcher and Game of Thrones take is their more low fantasy approach. There is obviously more to both of them than that, but superficially they can seem similar, especially when so much fantasy settings now seem to be trying to go do the whole "dark" or "low" fantasy approach.

No worries, I'm not refering to you. I tend to read about the game's rep among the press because I was keenly interested in how it would be recieved on consoles. My prediction that it would bomb turned out wrong, which is good. I'm just appalled at video game 'journalism' in general.
