God dammit this game looks incredible. Problem is I have trouble finishing The Witcher because even though it is a great game there are some things about it I just don't like.

Will it be absolutely necessary to finish the Original Witcher to understand the storyline in this game? If so then I may just force myself to finish The Witcher because this sequel looks like a massive improvement.

No it won't be necessary. Its worth it to read the books though.

I love The Witcher but it has its faults, mainly combat. Swordplay is looking much better in the sequel from the little we've seen.

And TW1 is a loooooong game so I wouldn't advise forcing your way through. The game isn't for everyone.

It'll probably be the same case as ME1 and ME2. It isn't required, but still better if you've played the first part.

Anyway, I just finished it for a second time to make the save I intend to import. I had much more fun than my second DAO playthrough (which got extremly boring after a while).

Give The Witcher some time. It took me several atempts to finally get into Deus Ex (over the course of a few years)

A few months ago I replayed DAO (I've only played through it twice) and it felt like an extremly long game to me. I just finished TW1 again which felt much shorter and as good as the first time I played it

My DA run was about 50 hrs. I missed quite a few of the side quests because I was kinda forcing my way through it, being like my 6th attempt at the game. It sure grew on me though the longer I played.

It was a similar experience for The Witcher, but I did nearly everything and I must have spent close to 70 hrs on it. I'm doing another run right now. To me, the game has a meandering quality about it that I can see some people not liking.

edit: I beat ya to it Damariel. :) The video is informative and shows some very impressive footage...but I still see a bit of screen tearing. I'm glad they pushed the release date back to polish it.

And TW2 will be long game too... so you should have 20-40 or 60 hours for second Witcher... it depends on how you play RPG's ;)

edit : yes you did Slimgrin :D... well if I not need to be in school... Congratulations ;)

Yeah, I think I'll give the Witcher another shot.  Probably after I've finished another Mass Effect 2 playthrough and Epic Mickey.  I know it's a good game but I have a problem with a lack of patience when it comes to micro-management and overly long, boring tutorials. I think I owe it to myself as an RPG fan to get over my issues with this game and truly enjoy it.

What? No, you better start with the original books written in Polish only. :P

As for the game, this is the biggest stuff in 2011 I am waiting for. I am tempted to do a pre-order but my personal bank account is kinda empty right now. Back to work I guess. <_<

There are translations to Spanish (all books), and I think German and French too.

The Spanish one is better ;).
I hope you get the second book published. Can´t understand why they skipped it. Tales were pretty good and it introduced things such as Ciri or the Geralt - Yennefer relationshi dinamic.

Not sure what to think of insane mode. I could see it working in TW1, since preparation is key. If you refer to the journal and prepare right, you'll win all the battles with relative ease.

I just hope there isn't an Achievement for it. Because if there is I'll feel the need to do it, and I really don't want to! =(

I'm interested in The Witcher 2. Anyone know any good videos about it I should see. Specifically Gameplay and Story-wise?

I'd rather not search the internet for it.

Tavern scene. Brings back memories of brawls, booze, and gambling. Fun for the whole family. :)

The lighting and his eyes do indeed seem a bit off. I like Geralt's new face though. We'll have to wait and see the final product; this is still an early build.

I love the atmosphere of the tavern. Straight from TW1, but more expansive and better graphics.
