I'm guessing you killed the harpies before they had a chance to pick up the traps, you need to set 4 in the quarry, the rest in the cave.

Set them while you're amongst a group of harpies. And you have done a Sack full of Fluff quest right? Lord is that one funny.

I also find the combat very intuitive - a bit stiff at first, actually, but once you get the hang of it it's quite fluid and a lot of fun.
Hopefully I'll have a chance to sit down and really get into the game shortly.

The worst part is I don't think you get anything particularly useful for beating him. You could do all you can to increase your chance of an instant kill and hope for the best. I couldn't believe it when I went in with one swing and he just dropped.Haplose wrote...

Yeah, I'll definately be trying out Iorveth's path and playing on a harder difficulty, normal was a walk in the park but don't know if I'm up for dark mode yet. Hardest fight in the game was The Operator who handed me my ass with his summoned gargoyles on our first fight, second time I got lucky and one hit killed him.
Yeah, this fight was epicly brutal. I've reloaded it countless times. The gargoyles could kill me in one successful attack chain... and the fireballs were brutal too. Oly had a slight chance if my Aard managed to stun a gargoyle or 2 for an instant kill. But to do so several times in a row while dodging the fireballs and the attacks of the gargoyles in a pretty tight space... must have been one of most challenging fights I've ever fought.
Well, his staff is quite OP. Even moreso if you invested in critical effect perks and whirl. Of course it's not a sword so using it has it's downsides, but it has huge reach and crazy elemental damage. Can have some fun with an alternate combat style. It's actually quite effective.
But I did miss the mobility of the quick rolling attack with the sword.

It does say right in the harpy book how to destroy the nests. Of course I didn't read it until after all this. Geralt's such a dolt in my game.
It mentions all sorts of useful stuff but its weird the info on monsters, potions and such is split between the character screen and the journal. It was quite some time before I realized the journal actually gives recomendations on how to balance out potion use.

I really hope they don't continue this trend of Dark Soulification. Leave Easy for the candyasses and let everyone else have their spamfests.

Well, I think I might be done with the game. I can't beat the Visitor even on Easy difficulty. Nerfing Quen really hurts.

Easy now. Take a break, down a pint of Mahakaman mead, and dally in the brothel for bit. You'll be back in fighting shape in no time.
I beat this guy with 6 swipes on my last dark run, but on my first run in easy I struggled like hell. I think my build was crap and my gear was crap. Tactics in this game is mostly stats and effects imo. Also, I can't remember if Yyrden works for him but that's what I'd use.
Post a screenie of your build and list the gear you have equipped.

My equipment is about the best you can get, I guess... Negotiator, Gwyhyr and Armor of Ban Ard with all the bells and whistles. I did do a hybrid build because I was trying to mix in some alchemy. That does a fat lot of good when you can't meditate anywhere on the battlefield. I have the swordsman line filled out down the middle.

Easy should be easy- that's what it's there for. It says it in the description that it's to keep the story moving. I'm not moving anywhere. I spent all night on it and I don't think I've even had him at 80% health.

You've wasted some skill points in the training tree. Parry and vigor regen should both be at lvl 2. Unless it's arena, Arrow redirect is almost pointless. Dagger throwing can be useful but it needs to be at lvl 2 as well. There's a more worthwhile health upgrade in the beginning of the Alchemy tree so don't bother with hardiness. Violence should definitely be at lvl 2. I would also upgrade dodge at least once and reduction of backstab damage to lvl 2.
I think part of the problem is you've got numerous skills in all three trees but at lvl one only.

I was trying out some options I hadn't before- again, that's why Easy difficulty exists, so you can experiment and not be punished for it.

You obviously do know when you can't even fight the Draug on Easy.
Yrden works to trap him. Use it.
And the best silver sword isn't the negotiator in Act 2. it's the Robust Blue Meteorite sword and the best armor is the Dragon Scale one.
Easy IS Easy, what it isn't and what you would like it to be is retard mode.
