Okay, I am finally submitting to Witcher 2's allure. Please tell me the combat and the occasional immaturity are not as bad as they seem.
Oh and do I miss much by not playing the first game?
For the Combat...
Not really, i don't think so.
If you like games like the Prince of Persia series, then theres a good chance you will like this game's combat.
For the immaturity...
the mayority of said swears and sexual thingys are in the background, and i think you can only really see them if you dig deep into the world, because in my first run through, where i didn't bother with secondary questing, i was focused entirely on the story, i didn't felt there was much swearing etc at all, but when i started to take my time, go to the inns, do the secondary quests and all that stuff, it became more and more clear why many people think these games overuse swears.
However, personally, i never thought they were overused, i thought they completemented the harsh world nicely, and i didn't felt that they were trying to shock me or impress me, rather, i felt that was, simply, the Witcher's world:
Rude, profane and bad mouthed, but the game does such a good job at immersing yourself at it that you don't care and actually, you like it(this is all in my case,of course).
Although, i may be biased, since i swear all the time
And for the first game, you should be fine, i played The Witcher 2 before i played TW1(which is also pretty amazing imo, mind you), i went through with it just fine, although, after playing TW1 and playing TW2 again, i actually got many of the things that i didn't get before i played it (Like a Foltest referencing something about his daughter), but it was never anything big enough to distract.

Just like our world 800 years ago. TW2 is a true medieval RPG, without knights in shining armors and princesses locked down in towers.

Well, you won't see Geralt's dick if that's what you're asking about...should I say "SPOILERS" : S?Russalka wrote...

The problem isn't exactly with penis, but lesbomancy.
That's the dwarf experience! XD
Heh, well, you spend relatively little time with dwarfs, so it shouldn't bother you too much i'd say.
and, if it makes you feel any better, theres a way to completely avoid the dwarfs(except for just 1), but i can't tell you because it would be a spoiler.

You haven't reached that point to know what it is about now have you? But it's just a kiss and it's not a random fan service scene.

Is there yet any word on console sales? I'm curious whether this game has outsold that other Polish RPG, Two Worlds 2 (highly unlikely).

And still today. Though usually the "wh*reson" is replaced by "son of a b!tch", nowadays.

Overall sales however based on that site ( which does not include digital sales so keep that in mind ) shows TW2 has sold 730.000 units on PC as well compared to the overall sales on all platform Two Worlds II that end being roughly 800.000.

There is no immaturity in TW2, that is for sure.
As for combat, matter of taste. Many love it, personally I hate it.
Just better enjoy quicktime events or you'll hate boss fights.

Well right now TW2 Xbox version has sold 350.000 units based on Vgchartz whereas Two Worlds II has sold 380.000 units. Give it 2-3 more weeks it and will have more sales then Two Worlds II on Xbox.

You can turn off those QTEs.
And most aren't really QTEs, i mean, how many are there? really?
Theres the Kayran, while running from the dragon, another one in the final boss, and...?
Apart from those, there most are one of those in which you press a button several times(don't know the name), i don't think that counts.

Not completely.
Edit: if you count those "press button to fill a bar" ones, anyways. Maybe they have another name I dont know, but they are what I mean (and hate).

The only boss that has a QTE like that is the Kayran. Frankly there's so few of them in general that I find it hard to complain.
I dont know, maybe I wouldnt complain if I hadnt needed 50 minutes and turning down all settings to minimum in order to finish the Karyan.
I just dont see the point in QTEs - and if there are so few, even less reason not to add an option to turn them off.

Does the game world take notice of actions only or does some character building also make people react? Like levelling some skill would give a special reaction, like "My, Witcher, what mighty sign magic you have!"; that really pushes my buttons.
No.

You play Bioware games yet you believe TW2 is objectification and fan-service?
Play the game. If you can stomach gratuitous asses up in yo face ever so prominent in the ME series, you can stomach the well explained appearence of sorceresses, lesbian scenes showcasing personality traits, and mysoginistc dwarves, who are by their very nature in this universe, mysoginistic.
It really grinds my gears when a game where women are shown as such powerful and influential figures is misrepresented by people who are pissed because Geralt isn't Bi and there is a sex scene that doesn't involves underwear humping.

All it needs is one. Even with the Enhanced Edition that Kayran QTE is unskippable, uncheatable, and unbeatable for a lot of people with lower spec machines even if the rest of the game runs fine.
This is CDPR, though, so there's a good chance they'll put out a patch that helps with the QTE.

I loathe Bioware for it. The Witcher had technical problems that didn't allow me to play, but no more. These questions were simply to finalise the deal.
Oh, and I hear the only gay male character in the game is someone sick in the head.
I did chance upon those annoying threads that demanded Geralt to be bisexual, which apparently got swarmed by really homophobic people. They pointed "dem gayz" to the BSN too, that's where the rainbow orgies happen.

Wait, hold the freaking phone... what? HAVE YOU EVER STARTED PLAYING THAT GAME?! Didn't you know that Geralt is a fixed character? He has white hair, he has a wolf medallion and he is not gay...because Sapkowski says so. If CDPR dared to change anything about Geralt the fans would just level'em with the ground. And trust me, The Witcher has a whole generation of fans here in Poland...
