What makes you think I didn't know that?

Notice how I said the thread was annoying? Granted, I do not see what could be wrong with making a gay protagonist in a gritty fantasy though. Geralt is already quite established, however.

If anyone wants a gay protagonist - sure , just not in this particular fantasy world. Geralt is established to the point where the only thing  player's allowed to change is the hairstyle...and only slightly. But that's not a bad thing, Geralt's quite cool in the current shape.

All it needs is one.  Even with the Enhanced Edition that Kayran QTE is unskippable, uncheatable, and unbeatable for a lot of people with lower spec machines even if the rest of the game runs fine.

Lies just lies. I have never done a QTE for the Kayran fight since launch all it took was for me to turn off QTE's.

Well right now TW2 Xbox version has sold 350.000 units based on Vgchartz whereas Two Worlds II has sold 380.000 units. Give it 2-3 more weeks it and will have more sales then Two Worlds II on Xbox.

Overall sales however based on that site ( which does not include digital sales so keep that in mind ) shows TW2 has sold 730.000 units on PC as well compared to the overall sales on all platform Two Worlds II that end being roughly 800.000.

That's US only, though. A google search reveals Two Worlds 2 apparently already sold a million units in Europe before coming to the US. At E3 2011 it was stated it sold over 2 million units in total.

I think Witcher 2 should be able to do at least as well. But what's impressive about Two Worlds 2 is that they pulled it off with almost zero marketing in comparison.

I appreciate you want people to buy the game, but don't do it by dismissing real problems.  Turning off difficult QTE only removes 2 out of 3 required QTE to finish off the Kayran.

From the Witcher wiki

From Gog.com - note the thread continues with people using the EE
http://www.gog.com/e...a_desperate_man

From the Witcher Forums
http://en.thewitcher...ep-falling-off/

Bottom line - if you have a low spec machine then buy the game, but be aware that you may run into some problems.  I think the game's worth downloading a Kayran dead save, or getting someone to do the quest for you on their machine, but some people won't.

I think it's a bit narrowminded to complain about the objectification of women only in games and other media for that matter. Yeah they are objectified. Everyone is. People are only complaining about the women, and yet pretty much all media is filled with stereotypes and misconceptions that barely anyone sees fit to mention. And yes, this stuff is present in our precious games as well.

As for TW2, no it's not the shining beacon of hope in an otherwise immature world. That doesn't mean it can't be good, but I think people are overdoing the praise a bit.

Edit: Now it makes more sense.

Mashing a key isn't a QTE imo if that's what your referring to then I take it back but still Quick time events are something I don't enjoy I can deal with with mashing a button np and I don't have a great PC either.

That is what we refer to, yes.
And some, like me, DO have a problem with it.

On another matter, how would you call it if not QTE? "Button mash Event" sounds stupid......

Maybe it's definitions but even with difficult QTE's off you have to button-mash if he gets stuck in the acid goo, and toward the end of the fight when he jumps up on a tentacle.  They're not difficult, just annoying.  I hate them, too.

As for fanservice, Geralt's enough service for me.

That would be really dissapointing. Considering the last conference, I should probably prepare for it

I feel like the people at CDPR would be really fun to hang out with, in that they'd be super geeky, have accents, and hang out in an office decked out in medieval gear... also they deliver jokes in the most flat voice ever. Lulz.

I hope it's not TW2 for PS3... I mean, that'd be great for people with a PS3, but when you say "really major stuff" -- I want a title annoucement or some sort of expansion.

My guess is the following may be announced:

-the setting of their new IP...maybe. That would be a premature announcement since the game is likely years off, but I'm dying to know this.

-an announcement of one of their 'minor' titles. This seems the most likely.

-an expansion. Everyone would love this.

-a PS3 port, which would be a total bummer. No offense to PS3 owners but I can't see this as a lucrative move in any way, just wasted time.

There are two gay people in the game and both are nuanced, powerful don't-f*ck-with-me characters. There's a bit of fanservice too, but not much. It's important to separate fanservice from the uncompromising style of CDPR when depicting setting and atmosphere. No cheeky ass shots here - just naked ass, and it's usually in a brothel.

Angry Joe's interviews with them were cute.  MAGIC!  I saw that guy's name in the credits and had to say it.

As for announcements... meh.  I'm tired of an announcement about an announcement about an announcement.  Not just CDPR, all devs do that.  I'll be happy if there's something to be happy about.

That would be my bet.
I Can't say i'm exited, and if it is, i'm totally for PS3 only users, but i want something else.

'Course theres always the possibility of being that AND something more, but since CDP isn't all that big, and they said that they don't like separating their workers(or something like that), i don't that would be either likely or wise.

i havent actually played The witcher 2, but i player The witcher 1 Enchanced Edition until chapter 2 when i quitted it, i got disgusted by it`s battle system, too steady, just had to span the mouse button and keep it pressed, it was utterly annoying, without mentioning the unappealing character

In that case, you should quitted this thread too.

TW1 combat was a bit meh at first, but I started to find myself enjoying it after awhile.  There's a huge improvement (IMO) from TW1 to TW2 in regards to characters (better VA, interesting characters, etc.) and combat.  You should maybe give it a try.  Rent it?

Then you were doing it wrong because the whole point of TW1's combat is not to click until the right time.

I didn't like it much, but prefer it to TW2 which really is button spamming.

Geralt snorts sardonically at your "unappealing."

TW1's combat is the largest reason why i can't replay it. It's horrid.

Okay, I am finally submitting to Witcher 2's allure. Please tell me the combat and the occasional immaturity are not as bad as they seem.

Oh and do I miss much by not playing the first game?

Everyone falls for Geralt’s witcher charms in the end.

The combat you will need to get used to, it’s not perfect but it’s ok, there is no immaturity in the game imo but it is a different style from Bioware games.

I personally think people miss out if they don’t play the first witcher game as you will probably find the beginning of TW2 a little strange.

I wouldn't say the game in inmature. It's just awfully realistic and very close to the books.
Also, you'de be missing out quite a lot skipping TW1.

P.S.: I've noticed how some people whined that the first thing you see in TW2 is a naked woman. Dead wrong. First woman you actually see is a battle-hardened special forces soldier who can nail you in the back with a crossbow if you start mouthing off to the interrogator :D
