Not only does its plot not make sense- it makes the entire series suck in retrospect. None of it holds together. It's obvious they had only the vaguest idea of where they were going when they started and had to resort to really cheap tricks by the end.
One of the best examples for Bioware's ineptitude is how they created a trilogy with a hyped feature of choices carrying over and not plan a god damn thing in advance.
Persephone is right that taste is subjective, but the prevailing opinion is pretty strong on this one. All stories have weaknesses and things that require the viewer/ reader to stretch a little, but when so many people feel crushing disappointment at how things are (not) resolved, you're dealing with a bomb and there's no sense in sugar coating it. But hey, how bout that multiplayer!!
The only good thing about the game and it's saving grace
I'm hoping that even with the departure of Jan Bartkowicz, someone at CDPR has a tight enough rein on the narrative that the Witcher trilogy (supposing it's a trilogy) will land with a satisfying conclusion.
Yes, hopefully his depature doesn't have too negative of an impact but I doubt that even in worse case scenario CDPR will display Bioware's Ed Wood/Uwe Boll level ineptitude.

Its high on empathy and drama lines. A little Sheakspearian/MacDonalds blend. Mediocore "High Art" for massess. Its a beggar in kings robes. With a plot as simple as construction of a flail. Standard to BW game design.
Someone hit the jackpot mentioning the game was researched and tailored, not developed. Gather all data of mainstream resources allocation, target audience features - make ME3. When the product is baked sugarcover it with Artistic Ineptidity.
Nostalgia being a major portion of BW games success.

What holds ME3 together is character interaction, voice over, emotional bond with PC and NPCs established earlier and, sadly, multiplayer.

Depends on what NPCs you're talking about, top fanwank material like Garrus and Tali? Sure but if you were a fan of the likes of TIM,Morinth,Udina,Zaeed and the like? You were wishing these characters had never existed to begin with.
TIM was my favorite character and to see him reduced to the level of pathetic excuse of an assclown villain whose sole purpose is to provide their immature fanbase an outlet to splatter their virtual money shot was sickening.
I mean damn, I don't like Yaevinn but I have enough respect for him not to want him to be treated like THAT.

I just remembered Samara and Jack (they handed that bad if you ask me; wrap 'n pack 'em, we're done - kind of way), you are probably right, they spent a lot of time and work on CORE characters... sadly, not enough on Ashley imo.Seboist wrote...

We will be hosting a conference on the 30th of May at 5 p.m. GMT. The studio will make a major announcement on that day, so make sure to witness it LIVE! We will also be revealing a lot of other information regarding our products and the DRM-free distribution platform GOG.com.
The conference will be streamed live on our website and at facebook.com/thewitcher.
See a personal invitation from CD Projekt RED's joint-CEO Marcin Iwiński here.
Expansion pack or The Witcher 3 or a new game ?
Don't hope the announcement is that EA has bought them

TIM can't be compared to any TW character because of how pathetic he ends up being. Loredo pisses all over him.
Truth be told, TIM was always a moronic idiot even in ME2. In any case, who still gives a damn anyways.
I don't think Jan's departure will affect things thatm uch. It saddens me of course especially since he is responsible for some of my favorite moments and characters, but he is not the lead writer who I'd think is the one who has the most say on the big picture, corret me if I am wrong.

Doubtful.
Probaly an IP announcement. I think it's still a tad early to announce TW3.
Or maybe an expansion? (Must buy in any case, IMO) They have lotsa things planned, so my bet is on a new IP being introduced.

Haha. Now that's a surprise. Apparently, one of the big announcements on that CDPR conference is resuming the works on Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf for PS3 and Xbox 360. We will have to wait and see if it's true ; ]
