The Legendary "The Witcher 2" RPG.

Good:
One of the most fresh RPGs I've played in a long time.
Iorveth... obviously, I have a huge mancrush on him.
Letho. I agreed with him. I mean this guy gave me all the things I ever wanted and all I had to do was give one of my favorite kings to the slaughter. He lived through my playthrough.
DRAGON!
Best story I've seen in a while.
Geralt seemed a bit more likable and les of a man****.
I was suprised the events of TW1 actually carried over to 2 and I liked that very much!
NO SAVE GAME BUG!!
Bye bye lodge of sorceresses!
Now the bad:
Controls. I have the extended cut and the control still drive me up the walls.
Trish. Can't stand the broad and am wondering when she'll just stop following Geralt around the way I've been treating her.
Way too short. Was sad to see it end so abruptly.
Where's my wild hunt phantom? I want to burn it some more like I did in 1.
Use Quen win game.
The game stutters and seems to be optimized very badly.
So anyone know how to fix the stutter issue?
This is just my opinion really.
Also anyone care to tell me what the empire of Nilfgaard wants?
I'm seriously considering teaming up with Nilfgaard... Letho and that spy chick kinda convinced me a little...

The game had a specific story to tell and it told it extremely well. The Wild Hunt played only a very marginal role in that story, making the game longer would just mean adding useless filler content.

Given how the game looks you're surprised your PC can't handle it? It's a takes a rather decent ( not powerful, powerful is something with an I7 Sandybridge and a GTX 580, 590 or GTX 670 ) to run it well on a high resolution.
Use Quen win game.
Quite very wrong there: Here's proof

Witcher 2 needs:
Intel® Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.40GHzThe minimum Witcher 2 needs is an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon.
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+
2 GB or ram on windows 7.
Video card: 512 MB RAM, Supporting pixel shader 3.0.
(Nvidia Geforce 8800 or ATI Radeon HD 3850.
I got.
Intel Core, i7-2600 CPU 3.40 GHz.
3.4 GHz CPU speed.
4.1 GB ram.
Windows 7.
Geforce GT 440.
According to Can I run it.
I should be able to run it past minimum spec without any stutter.
Yet it stutters even with everything turned to low.
If you know how to fix that please do enlighten me.
Quen = beat game. That's how I went through the game.
A friend told me to use Quen after I told him I couldn't beat that big ol Kraken at the beginning of the game.
And that was on easy. Yes I really am that bad.
But if I can beat the game relying 80% on Quen It's still a very powerful strategy and the best one given to me IMO.
Your proof can't dispute that. Impressive as it may be.
I played the game wrong anyway. It's a lot of hit and running if you play it wrong. I played it like teh first one up to the hilt aggressive meaning I got beat down a lot untill I got smarter.
On the story I can agree and I see your point... I just wanted more... frigging cliffhangers.

But that's on easy, it does not represent the true difficulty of the game which is on Insane or Dark.

We had a few of them: Geralt being a rider of the hunt, Letho's purpose, Yennefer. I don't think they are that important in the long run however. I think an excellent story is one where at the end you feel you've resolved all the questions that were created at the start and looking back for everything in the story to have followed a logical path. The Witcher 2 does not acomplish this 100% ( stuff like what happened between Ves and Henselt for instance is poorly handled ) but it does it pretty damned well. While there are questions these are set up specifically for the sequel.
In truth the most shcoking moment for me with regards to the Witcher was regarding Ciri and finding out that she is daughter of the bloody Emperor of Nilfgaard!

Seems like I should buy a new GFX card then.
Were also discussing prefrences I like my games to be insanely long 30 hours even with a good story felt a bit rushed.
I also haven't read any of the books yet, nor watched the TV show.
And yeah I can agree with taking out loose ends deal.
I can pretty much see where I'm at in a game by keeping track of all the loose ends.
Witcher 2 handled it's loose ends real well... but it did it too fast for me. Didn't have time to appreciate it as much as I wanted to... also I hated the combat almost all of it. The Kraken in the beginning almost made me rage quit because I wanted to play the game for the story and getting frustrated on easy and dying time and time again to the Kraken because I didn't know about Quen kinda pissed me off.
My friend actually forced me to continue past the Kraken. Glad he did.
Also I play with a Umm estimate 1200 x 900 something resolution so I may be overtaxing my graphics card.
Any recoomendations on what to get?
I actually don't know much about computers just took those from what Can you run it. Said.
BTW. Was Letho supposed to be the bad guy? I actually started agreeing with him when I got to talk to him.

Stuttering or anything of the sort is a technical issue. I don't experience that myself and I have a wee- little graphics card. I also feel there were no cliff hangers, but that everything pertinent to Geralt's personal goals got solved. Events around him are still in turmoil.
Nilfgaard forces rushing Temeria... How is that not a CLIFFHANGER?
I'm very interested in Temrias and Nilfgaards internal Politics and am looking for a chance to frack everything up.
Already got rid of the Lodge of sorceresses now if I can make Geralt destroy BOTH Temeria and Nilfgaard then I'll be happy.

Get GTX 460 or preferably a GTX 560: Similar price but the 560 runs betters.
Or if you have the money to spend get a GTX 670. Make sure you get a power source for these cards though. Your high resolution with that GFX card is causing your issues.

Allright thx dood. Guess I'll go shopping for computer parts... Gotta also see if I can safely replace my shoddy vid card aswell.
EDIT: Or maybe not. Holy cerulean balls those things cost fortunes!

It's a full blooded PC game not some console rip-off, what do you expect?
Minimum functionality when it says it should give you minimum functionality without stutter.
I expect for it to do what it says on the tin.
No need to sound condescending.
Skyrims a pc game when you tweak around with it and I can handle it quite well.
Also the witcher 2 was released on the 360 aswell and when a console port works better than a PC original it's kinda telling ain't it?
When you compare Skyrims PS3 version and 360 version to the PC version the PC version is superior in every way and has less problems.
The pc version of TW2 is much more beautiful than the 360 version but the 360 version is at least guaranteed to work.
Still would like to 1 day play TW2 at it's maximum capacity.
No matter the platform you should always expect that the minimum settings specs will at minimum settings give you what it provides with no problems.

In the first fight, It looks like you did damage on that last soldier right through his shield..wtf? Thats some slick playing Costin.
That's just inconsistent animations. They plague TW2. It's nearly impossible to tell when an opponent will block. Many times i have killed enemies through their shield but been blocked when they're laying down or turned around. Hopefully CDPR improve this in TW3.

Have you tried a lower resolution? Try 1600x900; in TW2 resolution takes up more performance than most up games. Also, make sure absolutely everything is on minimum.
Just for future reference, minimum specs are usually just to get the game running. Recommended specs are for running the game without issues.

That'd probably mean I'd hafta try to play it on windowed mode.
Thx for the tip and advice.
BTW is Windowed mode more taxing to teh computer than full screen mode?

I'm at Chapter 3 where you need to head into the salamander base and talk to the 2 bandits. The part where you give them the password. Unfortunately, the bars to reach them seem to be locked, and I already have the angus key (which I assume was meant to open it). Is there a bug I'm unaware of, or am I missing a key? I've checked 2 other walkthroughs about this, and it's not covered at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is. Just lower the res and stay full screen, if you switch to 1440 by 900 you won't get black bars.

It's a letter from Angus that should get you in, past the two thugs. You can also use a password, or you can fight them. If that doesn't work it may be bugged and reloading or re-installing may be the only solution.
Edit - Is there a pile of debris in your way? if so, use Aard.

Been a while since my last run, specially after ME3 came out and I reall;y needed a break from TW2. But now the game is running smoother than ever on my system and that "responsiveness" thing with the combat controls seem to have been dealt with very nicely.
I particularly loved the changes to the UI from patch 3.2. I'm still in Flotsam and I'll take my time in this playthrough, like I usually do anyway, but this time it is to savoir the enhanced edition changes while waiting to see the new stuff that lies ahead. Anyway, TW2 just became a lot more replayable to me (considering that I am a replay freak with over 10 runs on TW2 since release date last year).
Good job!
