I think I have a Readon 6850 around there (gotta double check) and I can run SC2 on high settings, I'm pretty good I think

Why was one of the best sound tracks of TW1 left out of the official soundtrack? Anyone knows?

I'm just hoping my overclocked 5770 can get medium-high settings. If there is a positive too, its that even on low settings the game looks pretty decent and no doubt with enough tweaking of the settings I'll be able to strike a nice balance between image quality and frame rate.

Are you sure it's not in there? Shame...

Though this song is not official in the game, it's from a very popular Polish composer and really gives a classic feel into what it is to be a 'witcher'.

I'll be playing on a old PC myself. HD 5770 and a Quad Core 6600. I'll try it on max settings though if it's like Crysis 1  and I get a decent framerate though I assume I'll probably turn off shadows and no AA >.< no way am I dropping my resolution.

Sometimes I wish I played at 1680x1050 instead of 1920x1200 on a single gpu.

I'll also be playing at 1920x1080 on the 5770, sort of - my laptop has the 5830M, which is a gimped version of the desktop 5770 card.

Are they releasing a separate high res texture pack?

Just so you guys know, you can get a recommended 4850 for around a 100 bucks these days.

I'm planning on upgrading my whole machine in a few moths anyway. :) What kind of stuff would you recommend for a reasonably (mid-)priced, good value gaming machine?

You probably want to consider the cheapest DX11 cards

NVIDIA GTS 450 ($100-130) or GTX 460 (around $150)
AMD 5770 ($110 - 130 or so)

If you wait a few months though, you will probably get better deals at that time.

People here can tell me if I'm neurotic, but I plan on playing the last 2 hrs or so of a TW1 save, then popping TW2 in the drive immediately after. I did this with ME1--->ME2 and it really highlighted the technical improvements of the sequel. It was quite awesome actually.

Problem is, I work the day after release. 5:30 a.m. comes awful early. :(

That is a very cool idea. Never thought of doing that before. I guess it would help to kill time if there is no pre-load for Steam

Sounds like an awesome idea.

I probably won't be playing TW until May 18th anyway, late May 17th at best, since I preordered my CE from Amazon and they have to deliver it right to my doorstep.

Well good idea but after spending so much time getting my "lore" version of Geralt for Witcher 2 ready I think I'm good.

I pretty much remember all the sidequests from ME1 and ME2 and Witcher. I played them each at least 7 times >.>

I did.

One is the Physical Collector's Edition and the other is from Steam. I really like Cloud saving and with the built in screenshots and friends and such why not?

I guess if you have money to burn, but it's hard for me to understand that decision process.

I pre-ordered the Steam version in December.

I pre-ordered GoG to support CDPR and also to play the game on 17/5

I purchased another retail copy because i like the standard edition, premium content. Game Manuals, Game Guide, A coin and most importantly the physical CD soundtrack. The bonus soundtrack is mp3 format.. which i expected a lossless format.
