Finally. I hope the devs spend a little more time in the international forum. I understand they're busy, but many of them are conversant in English and it'd be good to hear from them once in while.

I think so since the only online store with pre-load is gog.com and even on gog.com you have to wait till 7 AM GMT to play it.

Don't know if anyone has already report the tips and interview from IGN/The Witcher Vault concerning the alchemy, but it really worth more than gold.

Here it is

Enjoy it;)

I'm happy the alcohol requirement is gone (it did add nice flavour, but felt a bit too much like an unnecessary hassle over all). But otherwise it's a shame they couldn't include all the alchemy features they had envisioned and talked about earlier. The alchemy minigame or somesuch for the more potent potions would have been interesting. Overall I'm a bit worried alchemy mastery will feel a bit like the bastard son out of the three specs...

For me, alchemy was what made gameplay in The Witcher unique and satisfying. I loved toying around with oils and bombs especially...seeing those assassins cringe in pain when I used Cinifrid oil and then ruthlessly cutting them down, torching Dagon with Dragon's Dream. Fun stuff.

I was hoping we'd get to experiment with potion making, ala Oblivion. But Gop said that won't be the case. I did read one preview where the guy said he left chapter one with over 80 formulas and recipes!!

My first character will probably spec in alchemy.

Ooh really? Sorry bout that but it's kinda new to me :P.

@Romantiq
Yeah it's mostly appraisals on how awesome CDPR is. But there's couple of clearly jealous fanboys who badmouth CDPR.

I was hoping to spec as well...maybe get to distill alcohols beyond their base form, then distill other herbs before mixing them for a high potency potion...

That kind of experimenting is fun

I will have to look at the skill trees first, but yea, I liked alchemy also. It's going to be a tough choice. Sword first, with some alchemy, some of the bombs look very useful, Aard and Igni signs as well. Anyone seen a nice screen shot of the skill trees btw?

I'm going to focus primarily on swords and enough alchemy to help with fights. I like to hack and slash my way to victory. :D

Pics of the skill trees didn't overwhelm me to be honest, but I'll have to play first to see what kind of latitude the player is afforded. One promising note is we can apparently mutate signs.

Whelp, I at least can say my pre-order months ago has become more and more justifiable.. Free DLC, no DRM, no region coding BS, lower price, lots of collector's goodies, potential expansion pack(s)?!?!

CDPR feels like the second coming of the gaming industry. Hopefully they can rapture me up with the actual game, but even if it's not all that everyone is hyping it up to be, it will still be an historic moment in humanitarian game launches.. So much trust in the consumer base is almost unbelievable. I almost feel like CDPR is trying to get into my pants on the second date with all the chocolates and flowers and subtle brushes against my rear.. The graphics alone make this almost a Crysis like buying necessity just for the benchmarks. And that launch trailer was like watching a movie I actually might pay to go see.. incredible.

Although I told myself never to get as hyped for a game as I did with ME2 (because of the subsequent disappointment) I can't help but feel that even if I hate TW2, it was still worth it on principle alone.. Good job in the marketing and PR department CDPR because even the jaded, callous soul that I am is turning into a supporter for life (unless you sell out to EA/Activision.).

I had planned to specialize in signs, but I like crafting, too, so it'll be difficult to decide. A review said that mobs are difficult so I'm thinking it will be useful to have a robust Igni.

It's nice that even though they had to trim down the alchemy process more than original plans, they at least acknowledge this as a regret, rather than trying to say that no one likes those "boring" inventory management and crafting aspects.

Yes, absolutely, the alchemy was one of the coolest things about The Witcher.

Although the Oblivion system allows for more options, I felt that the alchemy system in TW1 was better designed. I love how you need to find some strong alcohol to use as a base for your potions.

I loved the additional properties of the potions I made... kept a few ingredients with none just to brew potion base and only the good stuff on my inv. That was a boost for my swordsmanship as my chars are mostly great swordsmen!
