Personally I had no problems with the original Witcher's combat. I guess most players just prefer an Action RPG style of combat to one where they just can handle everything with the mouse.RyuGuitarFreak wrote...
I'm laughing as I remember that Gop said that they changed the combat mechanics because they thought TW1's combat was too hardcore lol.
You should report your experiences on the official forums. CDP may be able use the feedback to fine-tune the combat somewhat, if not through patches, then at least in expansions and sequels.
If it helps, I remember one of the previews remarking how combat early on in the game had a number of barriers that were gradually overcome by picking certain skills in the swordsman skill tree. For example there's a skill that allows 360deg parrying, so that Geralt won't get screwed when he's surrounded by a group.
In a single player RPG where your only controlling one character (as opposed to a party based tactical rpg), i would think making the combat more action orientated is a good idea. Instead of that terrible timing your clicks method the first game used.
I'm actually interested in the Witcher2 now because the combat was the worst part of the first game, imo. My prefrence is always a more tactical party based game (like Baldurs Gate), but i can also enjoy a action RPG, if done right and is not a bore like Oblivion, say. (just talking about how the combat is done now)
Most definiately agree. The timing based attacks of the first game, completely turned me off. I don't mind a more action intensive combat model, just as long as it doesn't feel tedious. TW1 for me, felt very tedious.
