What nobody bashes the game?. I m gonna cry now.

I can think of a couple things, only played for a couple hours though.

The biggest one by far is the targeting, of both enemies and things as simple as looting and opening doors.  Have to adjust Geralt's position quite a bit just to examine a poster.

The livestream and I were persistently amused at the timing of the hints in the tutorial.  On several occasions they literally told me how to do something after I did it, such as aiming the ballista.

And Triss's English VA is still terrible.  Yes, I know about Polish, but localization is something worth evaluating.

My G35 Headset is not compatible with the game so I can't "narrate" my playthrough to the livestream, apparently uninstalling the Logitech drivers works around this, but its still annoying.

And I was surprised by the sudden - at least it seemed to me - introduction of timed dialogue responses.  I was putting in some eyedrops when I ran into an elf early on, and missed the response I wanted to use.

Finally, and this is a minor quibble, I have "Hard QTE Enabled" and... there's nothing hard about them.  Granted, I played Indigo Prophecy.

But I'm in Flotsam and so far I don't have much bad to say about it.  I didn't follow development purposefully as I wanted to go in relatively blind.

It was like Crysis 2 but they patched it within the first week The Witcher 2 probably will do that also but uninstalling the drivers makes the headset useless since the drivers is what makes the G35 sound incredible.

Damn, this game puts DA2 to shame :(

I'll only say it after I play it, but yeah, seems that way.:D

One of BioWares biggest problems - and this is especially true of DA2 - I think is that they are writing stories their engines don't seem capable of delivering.

So far The Witcher 2 definitely does not have this problem.

I am very interested in buying this game I was wondering does this game have romances cause that is what I loved about Bioware games also is there classes in this game for example Rogue/warrior/mage?

Your main character is static so you don't get 'classes', although you can customize your character any way you want within the skill system (it is an RPG after all).

You can become a master alchemist/magician, but in the end it will all just augment the primary component of the game, swordplay.

You definitely get romances as well :D

EDIT: Man, you guys are a lot quicker on the draw then me :P

Is there a lot of quests to do like side quests like quests that don't follow the main plot? And will this be a game you can finish then start again like it is repeatable quite a few times like most Bioware games were.

Do I have to answer that?:D

Of course! There are a fair number of side quests, and as for replayability this game takes it to a new level, because based on your choices there are entire cities Geralt will never see on any single playthrough!

I hope some you might be able to help me, or not me actually but some of my friends over at
http://www.gameboome...html#Post725088

As you can see they have problems with the barricade and with aiming the barrista to get past the prologue. I hope some of you have played through this portion of the game already....

You play as Geralt in this game, so no classes, but you can build your character through the skilltree any way you like. As for romances, yes, there are romances in this game. And they're beautifully done, artfully and skillfully done with (full) nudity - you'll see Geralt and Triss lying on a carpet together, then the came cuts away and fades to black, I think?

As for the scores of Metacritic, I've long suspected that people will give a game a 10 or 0 just to prove or make a point, regardless of how good or bad a game is.

Yes, many side quests and it is like the Mass Effect series in that save games from previous games carry over and affect the story in major ways.

I'm only about 7 hours in (so fun! :D), but from all the reviews the story branches so wildly that you cannot see the entire game in one playthrough, maybe not even in 2.

There are a few places you can get savegames now if you have not played through TW1, just google it.

Why would you buy a USB headset in the first place if you have a halfway decent soundcard, since it doesn't even utilize the card and just eats CPU cycles?  You should have spent that money on a Sennheiser PC350/360.

Going to start on the sequel after I finish my most recent playthrough of TW:EE.  Siding with the Scoia'tael, since it's pretty much undeniably the right thing to do.  I'm sure there will be a savegame editor out somewhere in order to fudge it so I can have an Order-loving fascist Geralt as well.

I've been playing for *looks at clock* more than 6 hours, I guess.

It's fun. I love the visuals. I just wish I had a better PC so that I'd have both great visuals AND a decent framerate. :D
(Pentium 4 3GHz, 2GB RAM, GT 430 2GB, WinXP SP2)
It's playable, after some tweaking of the settings.

I just finished the castle/prison thingy.

Things I liked:
- visuals: from architecture to character designs...and the vistas. Damn. Beautiful. I wish DA2 had something like that to give the player a sense of scale...*sigh*
- music/sounds: just great and lends to the atmosphere.
- voices (Triss sounds weird, a bit 'too soft', perhaps, but still good, methinks. I think the German is better...I'll probably play my second playthrough with German dialogue)

Things I didn't like:
- QTEs (not just because they feel 'console'-ish, but because some are frustrating...like the bridge + dragon thing. Apparently there's a QTE difficulty toggle, so I guess I'll try that, too)
- CTDs...but that's probably my fault for playing on an aging system. (it's not too often, tho'. Once every 2 or so hours...oh, and I was hitting alt + tab too, esp. to check for hints on how to do the dragon + bridge QTE thingy)
- the stealth bits: 'sticking' to the wall then moving feels 'unresponsive'. I'm not sure if it's my PC, or the mechanic itself is lacking

Things I'm not sure of:
- combat: I honestly liked the first game's combat. It wasn't the greatest, but it worked. The combat for TW2 is also nice, but seems to require more running around lol.

Overall, I love the game so far and, despite having the aging PC, it looks and sounds great. :D
Now to restart the PC (I just had a CTD) and get back to playing. :P

It´s not even a CDP vs BW issue. Gothic is quite an old game and the camps put Kirkwall to shame, and characters reacting to Nameless actions. DA2 just made it more obvious because this time around the story was weak most of rthe time and didn´t make up for it.

Yeah man, CTDs must be due to conflicting soft or slow hardware =\\. Try to close down unnecessary processes or get TuneUp Utilities to do it for ya.

Metacritic should really review their scoring mechanic. It's sad that all those 0s are from these forums from same butt hurt people you've probably seen that praise DA2 like its the best thing in the world and call PC players elderly farts.

"All those" 20 people out of 255 who gave it a 0 or 1, vs. the 1000+ on the PC side alone who gave DA2 a 0 or 1, scores which should be resolved for games that suck in EVERY aspect, not just some aspects? But the 200 or so that gave TW2 a ten without finishing it first are responsible, informed adults who are TOTALLY not fanboys? If you take a step back I think you'll realize those implications come off as pretty hypocritical.

Please take your DA2 issues to the DA2 forums. The rest of us have heard enough about it, thanks. That's why we're not there.

I'm not going to get into a discussion over the relative merits of DA2.  But someone pointed out an opportunity for comparison, and I was talking in the livestream about how the opening camp in the prologue was a fantastic example of show not tell.

BioWare tries to show, but often has to tell and we have to take their word for it, and in Kirkwall this was a huge problem.

Ok I am going to buy it haha but a couple more questions please if someone could answer is the combat system easy to get used to and fun? And is leveling your character easy and is there multiple choices you can choose while leveling your character for example you could take one skill tree and invest all your points into that then if you want to try something new you start a new game and invest your skill points into a diferent type of tree so you can play a game with new abilities?

Well, I can't get past the soddin' dragon part. Apparently, there is supposed to be a QTE, but nothing happens and I always get eaten >_>

Ugh! Anyone else having issues with the savegame import? I for the love of god just can't get TW2 to recognize my save file, even though it's already in the correct folder according to FAQ. <_<

i had to go back into the witcher EE and save my game in the ice plains to get it to recognize it as my last save file was just before all of that

Aha I should be okay then. Was worried I should have saved it in the Courtyard afterwards.

RE: Metacritic nonsense. Yeah I agree with Wynne. Both games are getting the same silly hyperbolic/making a statement/trolling user reviews, both positive and negative. Better to just ignore them, neither game deserves a zero that's for sure.

The combat is great fun, but it is complex and hard - easy is much easier, hard is much harder (as hard or harder then demon souls). I had problems with the dragon QTE part too, but after some tries I managed it. Only problematic part for me so far.

If you excuse me .. I have to get back into the game :D

DA2 ? Aren't there better games to compare it to than that ? That's not doing much as far as my expectations go.

How does the melee combat compare to Demons Souls , say ?

Maybe its my speakers and I won't notice if I use my headphones, but does it seem to anyone else that when Geralt and some other people talk that they're talking really quietly? Almost like the voices should be louder at times as the music and ambient sound drowns out the voices?

I'm liking the combat now that I've gotten the hang of it, but as others have said, some of the interacting and mouse control feels a bit finicky. Like trying to click to pick up loot, you need to be precisely hovering over a specific point.

EA should fire the DA2 Team and hire CD Project for DA3.
