I want more options to punch the sh*t out of people. In DAO it was always talk them down or murder them. Why can't I beat some sense into an idiot?
I've had enough of your disingenuous assertions!

Me too. Less violent and just as efficient.

Well, your character is presumably carrying all kinds of stuff that isn't visible on him. Do you imagine that your characters just happen across campsites with tents all ready for them, or that Alistair is cooking stew in his helmet and chopping up meat with his sword? What are you eating anyway?

If a mage must use a murder (kitchen) knife, he should at least throw it telekinetically.
That would be way too awesome for the Universe to handle.

But I disagree that it shouldn't appear on mages. It's hard to imagine that one would travel the whole country without even a bread cutter in the backpack and blowing up everyone with spells is so overworking it.

I want to be uncomfortable when I see it. I want to feel that my Hawke is potentially a bad person based on the image.
Imagine a Mage Warden reaching into the bars of Jowan's cell and wringing his neck as he slowly chokes to death, begging the Warden to have mercy. A little more emotional impact than a quick stabbing motion to the stomach, ain't it? Your Protagonist is bad, and you should feel bad. In the same way we feel good when he or she is good.

Well as an alternative mages could use a spoon.

And warriors and rogues could use their currently equipped weapon if available I guess, though a 2 handed maul may not be a very practical assassination tool...

I love it...Varric tells Aveline that Hawke's so deadly that he/she kills with a spork.
(Makes me think about the first time I fought a critter in Morrowind. I'm panicking, jumping around, shrieking "why isn't this working?" Brother points out I'm trying to lockpick it to death. Yeah, he's never let me forget that one.)

Hm sounds familar, I didn't play for a while but I think you had to equip lockpicks to use them, so I faintly remember something like this happening to me too ... more than once.

And then when the murder case goes to trial, he can explain how there is no spoon!

Too much realism for the sake of realism would make for one dull game. Origins took place over the course of several months, yet you never carry food around, or toilet paper.

I also like the idea of carrying around a box of pin needles for a similar purpose.

Don't get him started, or he'll be asking for New Vegas style "hardcore" mode.
